Four years overdue and four scripts later, I've finally done it-I've made another Habbo video! While you're reading this, I'm going to cheekily ask for a subscription if you're interested in more videos like this :P Thank you to everyone who has patiently waited for this video for *so* long, and thank you everyone for your continued support! Your kind comments really do mean a lot to me :) For transparency purposes, I've put further information about the methodology and limitations for the headline $30M figure in the description of the video.
I'm so glad you've come back to make videos like these. As someone with almost zero knowledge of the game, your video essays on this niche game are excellent!
Oh my god.. Congratulations!!! I still had your previous videos' outro music tracks in my head everytime I remembered your videos hahaha I really missed them
I cannot think of a worse time to force an in-game economy crash than the pandemic. That's like taking a sledgehammer to your ice machine on the hottest day of the summer. How Habbo is still going after decades of controversy and failure truly boggles my mind
I thought Habbo would be long dead, if not for a few hundred die-hards. It’s very interesting that it is still going, but I wouldn’t think investing into Habbo currency to make money is a good idea.
I love how much interesting drama there is surrounding this game. Considering the player base is so insular and the game barely discussed at all outside of it's player base.
I find it fascinating how a game aimed at teens to build cool rooms and chat with friends turned into a capitalistic haven where the only one you can trust is yourself.
Am patiently waiting for the people of Habbo to dump their furniture/coin in a proverbial ocean before declaring a revolutionary war against the creators.
Trolligarch, you can't just do this, imagine what would happen if you released these two high quality videos within 2 weeks! You'd crash the UA-cam niche internet market economy!
Is habbo staff greedy? Do they hate their users? Surely its not them being incompetent right? Literally everytime i hear something about habbo, its related to the staff doing something so incredible user/consumer unfriendly that it makes EA blush
I would assume it would be because of Incompetence from not understanding the concept of a virtual economy, and not knowing how fragile an virtual game economy is.
Having an entire userbase of degenerate gamblers, investors and people dumb enough to put their life savings into digital flash furniture pieces must be a stressful job if you just wanted to make a social game for teens to hang out- now every update you make has to be good for their fake stock market or they'll riot.
@@Tabako-san true, but a trade tax seems to exist solely to encourage more purchasing of currency, I can't imagine they had the casual player base in mind instead of "how can we increase profit"
It did. use to play it as a kid in Finland, where the game is from. There was TV adds and ads in magazines, havent even heard name habbo hotel for like 10 years, until this poppes in my recommendations. The blocking of speach for 3 months, and shitty updates after Elisa bought most of Sulake completely killed most Habbo hotels. All Habbo hotels (different languages) use to have 7.5million active players, 50-60k active daily players ~2007-2010, more than runescape at he time. in 2024 highest daily players has been 6k... while runescape now racks record numbers with over 80k daily players. classic "hey lets buy this succesful thing and add more micro transactions to milk money" and then it dies. I waited 4 years for this and this absolutely lived up to my expectations!! I'm selfish for wanting a continuation of this Habbo series but the analysis and qaulity is insane. Bravo
I would say, "I literally interviewed you!" but in your defence, this was nearly 4 years ago! That said, thank you once again for assisting me with my research.
Whoa, the years FLEW by. I remember commenting on your last Habbo video like it was a few months ago, not a few years! Love the coverage, it's fascinating to hear about Habbo from this perspective. I only ever dipped my toes in back when I was a kid, mostly stuck to MyCoke and then went on to Second Life after they merged with There.
I played habbo literally all the time as kid - these videos reminded me of how crazy it all was, and how much of my life I devoted to it!! I remember listening to habbo exclusive internet radio stations while I played, and they would give away prizes and stuff as well - I cant think of anything now that has that much of a dedicated fan base to have not just one, but multiple volunteer manned internet radios hahaha
