    I am glad you did this,. I have AXEO installed on my 2019 Road Glide Special but I set the preload to total weight not just rider weight so I them set to stiff and it was a pretty harsh ride for me especially on roads with a lot of smaller bumps. Since watching this I pulled them back out and took them back to less than 250lbs and the ride is so much better.

    What's the socket size for the top cap on the dynas? Are they universal or do they change from one year to the next. I got a 2012 and am about to do this swap. Also...wouldn't happen to know the torque specs eh? For front and back shocks?
    Cheers....and great vid....thanks for making it slow and steady for easy understanding.

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  Рік тому +1

      HOTDOG$401
      It should be 1-3/8" which is extremely close to 35mm
      Several brands make short sockets for this Motion Pros is one, they can be found with a quick google search.
      Top cap should be torqued to 25 FT-LB or a firm as you can grip the tube while someone torques it. unless you have a fork tube vice like a Park tool rubber jaw vice.
      Rear shocks you should follow standard torque specs in the manual.

    I had these installed on my brand new Lowrider ST I love them but they seem a bit harsh on small cracks in the road? Is this to be expected the first few miles?

    • @LegendSuspensions

      Hello Tim, thank you for your business. The Axeo's are a performance front suspension so the ride can be firmer than stock over some bumps, but yes there is some break in time as well as the bigger thing here, it is an adjustment going from really soft squishy stock suspension to something firmer and more performance based, we think if you get some good riding miles on them and give them a little break in time as well as time to adjust to the new feel, they should soften up for you. Your weight and preload also come into play so make sure this is set correctly for you. If you have any additional question please feel free to contact us at legendsuspensions.com and try our chat feature, it is run by real people, they can call you if needed as well.

    Is there any video for the sportster, from the website I understand we need to even change the fork tubes.

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  Рік тому +1

      @KT < We do not have an install video for the Sportster yet, however the install in quite similar. There are two options on the front end depending on the year and sub-model of Sportster you have, they are both 2+ front ends, however, one allows you to use stock tubes and the top cap of the Axeo is longer for height adjustment, and the other Axeo is an overall longer than stock kit that does require the use of longer tubes.

      @@LegendSuspensions Thank you for the explanation. Mine is a 2017 sportster 1200 custom, XL 1200C . Will the model that uses the stock tubes work with this model because when I searched on the website, I found the one which required using aftermarket 26.25" tubes. I am in India and getting all such aftermarket parts becomes a challenge.

    I wish I could install this on my 2015 Street Bob with 21” wheel. Legend said these are only made for 19” stock wheels. Is there any plan to make a kit for Dynas with 21” wheel? Does it make that much difference to possibly bottom out the fender to triple tree as told to me but Legend tech?

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  Рік тому +1

      CT,
      It is unfortunately a fitment we don't test fit or recommend, it could be possible, however it becomes a run at your own risk install since it is outside of the OE setup. Keep in mind when you add a larger wheel and tire you will raise the front of the bike and if you do not have the correct height rear suspension you will be taller in the front, and this will negatively impact ride, handling and performance. It will also give you an increased rake angle which does not aid in performance or handling. It tends to unload the weight off the front end and make it feel light and overload the rear suspension and that will "upset" the bikes feel, comfort and the things listed above.

      @@LegendSuspensions I appreciate the feedback and understand as a manufacturer you have to CYA for liability. I took the chance and ordered the standard Axeo set for my Dyna and willing to bet it will be okay. There appears to be enough travel and clearance above the fender to lower triple tree depending of the fork design that I will test as suggested by your tech. In theory, it should bring me back closer to the stock height up front. With Ricor Intiminators and stock otherwise than removal of 5/8” from spacer it has been awesome to date. The bike handles way better than stock did even with my 18” and 180 rear tire. I believe that the Axeo set up with the Revo A in the rear at 13”, I will have the best ride and handling that I could possible have. Anyway, it will be way better than what I have now. You folks can’t test this, but I can. Thank you.

    why is the preload set up to a 250lb rider when your only 185, vs others suspensions that uses multiple different springs

    • @LegendSuspensions
      @LegendSuspensions  Рік тому

      Hey George,
      Good question, we use a different spring and spring rate for our suspension than others. Our system also has a floating piston with oil and nitrogen on either side, this allows the system to adapt to rider weight and how the person is riding the bike. It essentially adjusts on the fly based on the feedback it is being given, to provide you with the optimal suspension performance for what you are doing. If you cruise 400 miles on smooth interstate the shaft speed is moving a certain way, pulling out of a parking lot and hitting a bump at 10 miles an hour is a different shaft speed, hitting a 2x4 or coming down from a wheelie is a different shaft speed. Our spring rate and the way the suspension operates, will cover a wide range of riders. and just because the setting is for 0-249 lbs, that does not make it stiffer for the light rider, because the system works based on the input it is given, and a lighter rider is not going to compress suspension like a heavy rider, so it works optimal for both riders, when you ride more and more aggressive it gets more aggressive, if you just cruise, it will just cruise as well and act as such. The system is constantly tuning itself to make sure you are always planted and getting the correct contact patch regardless of your weight within that weight range.
      We hope this answers your question, if you need additional explanation, please feel free to reach out to our customer service department and they would be happy to help.
