All your videos are always super easy to understand, thank you for that. So many videos go around in circles and circles you're trying to figure out what the point is and by the time you finish watching it you still don't know what the hell they were saying. This video made perfect sense the first time through. Thanks again.
Thanks Nathan, these are good tips for the beginner, I hope a few people will learn something. Of the mentioned methods I use TTF, it also helps me with accuracy a little but the downside is more possibility of a forkhit. Have to be more careful with the grip and release when shooting TTF.
Yes definitely got a lot out video I’m new I was target shooting using clay ammo 11 mm. I got hit 3 times hand slap. Good information but I was using a pinch grip over the top. I did change my grip from a pinch to index finger wrapped around sling shot using my thumb as support. I definitely doing something wrong. Since i changed my grip no more hand slaps. So not absolutely sure why it was happening. You gave me some good information TY
Nice tips sir, I m using heavy tube and stone and as I was summing today one stone hit me just under the right side of my rib on my stomach. A stone should go front but it didn't go straight rather hurt me. Sir can you guild me why so. I m from India
I own three slingshots, all of which I shoot TTF. One of them, somehow, causes band slap hitting specifically my thumb, and I have had no luck figuring out why/how. Any advice?
Wat I found is if u get band slaps is to draw further than u r currently doing an it will drastically help cuz like he said to mutch energy left in bands I was getting a lot of band slaps my finger was hurting an I was getting discouraged until I drew back to purty mutch full draw now mutch better almost no band slaps hope it helps some of u an also cut your bands to ur desired draw so u have the right draw length for your style of shooting
Hi. I shoot OTT and use fork supporting grip or pinch grip. My band match the ammo and sometimes band slaps my forefinger. Any ideas why? I try hold my front hand still. I must say i got clip attachment 20mm for band and my band is 23mm wide. Can this be the problem? I am waiting for 20mm band.
If you are experiencing hand slap, your bands are overpowered for the ammo you are using. The hand slap happens as a result of leftover energy in the bandset so it comes back with force.
I shoot through the forks, always do. Never got handslap until a few days ago. Did not change ammo or bands. I've inspected them carefully for wear and don't find any. Any idea what happened?
I started getting hand slap with heavier bands. I like bands now instead of tubes. At least you have optiins with bands. But my huntung slingshit i changed to 4x 1mm bands. Its quieter and more accurate. With my toy slingshot i use 2x 0.8mm bands. I yousta get handslap but i found diferent ammo changes this. So i thinking its a tuning problem not a technique problem. My slingshots made to fit my hand; side hand. Its got a platted landyard at the bottim looped about a foot. Just enough to dangle the slingshot from your wrist. I hang it on wrist and twist the slingshot round and round till it tightens on your wrist then hold it as normal. It locks into a wrist brace that yiu dint need to grip your handle at all(but i do) when drawing. No more wrist slap
I'm seeing this all over our videos, but I'll put the reason here on this video as well: There are two possibilities: 1. There are knockoffs in the market. We've been ripped off and the fakes are garbage. They don't fit correctly. (Obviously, if you bought from us, this is NOT the reason.) 2. It was installed improperly. When installed correctly, it takes a bit of work to even remove one. And during use, the plug is actually tightened! When installed properly, you really are not going to lose a plug from use!
@@simpleshot i flip my slingshot in the same direction it naturally recoils and that gets rid of hand slap for me. Does nathan run super short bands? I notice alot of the legendary chinese/Vietnamese shoot butterfly im pretty sure they dont get handslap with that method and you get higher fps/flatter shot.
My prefered way of shooting is highspeed full butterfly shooting and in most cases matching the amount of latex to the ammo at a degree where no handslap occurs anymore results in less speed, but i can still avoid the handslaps by sensing the resistence in the fork while i let go of the pouch, there occurs one sweetspot in the process on which i have to flip the frame away from the shotline and this turn the handslap into an airslap But i don't recommend this style of shooting for beginners, because moving your framehand while you place the shot can be risky if you don't know exactly what you are doing
This is called Hand Slap and can be pretty painful. This is from having bands too strong for your ammo or ammo too light for your bands. You can leave your bands longer or use heavier ammo. You can also use lighter bands to avoid the Hand Slap.
When I am shooting through the forks with the slingshot to the side (gangster style, I think it is called) I often hit my thumb with the tubes, what causes this to happen?
@user-nd4rz3jp4f 0 seconds ago I'm shooting .7 snipersling green and 7/16 inch steel. I tapered the bands from 25mm-20mm. With that set-up i'm getting hand slap. But I saw someone else shooting this set-up and not getting hand slap? I'm looking for a taper where I can take rabbits with 7/16 inch steel and not get hand slap. Can anybody help me?
Your vids are generally great, however put me down as in favor of getting rid of that side shot you often use. I know you must do it for a reason, but I find it artificial and a bit annoying. Your straight on shots are much better. Many thanks.
What rabbit?? We were shooting a tin can. Perhaps you saw the cat running around the background. No rabbits were harmed in the making of this video. Cans?? Yes, cans were severely harmed!

Perfect video. Now I understand, really understand, what's going on. Made the changes and handslap immediately went away. Thank you!

Thank you. Great slo-mo video. Really makes it clear what it happening.
You're welcome!
Very informative.Thanks i learned a lot🙂

Glad the video helped you avoid the hand slap!
You are the best ❤️
Thanks for that information👍🏼

I suppose you could wear a golf glove too, if you like to use different sizes of ammo and don't want to always switch out the bands.
I own three slingshots, all of which I shoot TTF. One of them, somehow, causes band slap hitting specifically my thumb, and I have had no luck figuring out why/how. Any advice?
Hand slap is always a result of left over energy in the bands. The ammo is too light for that bandset.
I had longer bands on a smaller slingshot and i got hand slaps then i shortened them and got no handslaps
Would narrowing existing bands work? Seems like you’d get less power, which should mean less recoil.
YEs, you could use a narrower taper.
Hey great video, thank you
Hello
Please witch tubes i can use for 8mm steel balle with opfs ?
Thank you

There is no need for multiple layers of latex with the modern day slingshot latex unless shooting very very heavy ammo.
Hey i got like three shots out of mine before it flew apart. Plug went flying into the yard.

What about the other options of flipping the slingshot down after shot or tweaking the pouch etc?
Nathan "flicks" when he shoots and still gets handslap! Ouch!

Yes, it can be risky for sure!
What about getting slapped where i get hit at the web of my thumb/ back of the hand

is that your cat or dog in the background
+Blowgun Hunting nope, its a chupacabra!

Not entirely sure, maybe your thumb is too close to the fork tips??

The difference is probably a difference in your draw length or the elongation that you are using.
I hit my thumb with a rock omg n I'm a beginner I'm deathly scared of my flat band wooden 1 but my dangling 1 has never hit me flat or tube
Stick with ball ammo and avoid rocks. We do have Clay Ammo as well.
I believe I'ma stick with Hoop tubes on my dangkung 1 4 now and work my way to flat band pinch grips
Whatever works the best for you. As long as you are shooting and having fun, that is what counts.

well your not feeling more pain as the rabbit your shooting.

Just kidding Nathan, you make great products
