I have read quite a few of these but also am walking away with some new titles that sound so amazing. I love your videos! You have a new sub in me for sure :)
I already read Sunbearer Trials and was curious about other fantasy Latinx titles. But knowing that magical realism is more popular, I will definitely check out the genre.
Thank you so much for explaining the use of Latinx. I studied Latin American Literature for my minor in college, but Latinx wasn't a term I heard at that time. Now it makes sense and I appreciate its significance ❤️
May I also recommend another stunning example of Latinx Magical Realism?: The Murmur of Bees by Sofía Segovia (translation by Simon Bruni). Historical Mexico setting, lyrical writing, and one of my favorite examples of magical realism ✨️🐝
Oh my gosh I’m so glad that was helpful! I’m a little nerd when it comes to it and wanted to share lol. And how cool! Latin American literature 😍 you must have a ton of recs. I will add the one you suggested above!
This was such a great informational video! I put pretty much all of these on my TBR; they all sound amazing. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and recommendations :-)
@@xo_jo I just wanted to let you know, I just finished the Sunbearer Trials and I absolutely loved it! It was such an amazing book and I am so glad I read it. Thank you so much for the wonderful recommendation! :-) 🎉
Loved it! I might not speak Spanish, but I relate due to the Brazilian, African Portuguese speaking countries, Portugal and so many other communities ❤
Thanks for the recs! These all sound interesting. I haven't read a lot of Latin American literature I'm afraid but I have a couple of books in my TBR: The Daughter of Doctor Moreau by Silvia Moreno-Garcia, which is a reimagining of the H G Wells story in 19th century Mexico, and A Planet for Rent, a satirical sci-fi novel by Cuban writer Yoss.
I have the sunbearers trials waiting for me on my shelf and I am looking forward to reading it! And I have two other books by aiden thomas as well. I really liked they both died at the end but haven't tried the prequel. Trejo's book is on my list to get to one day. I have the house of spirits on my shelf as well. I've read two Allende books before and really like her writing.
Will you pick up one of these titles? 😍✨
Yes!!!! Always running sounds interesting…. It will be next ( still working on Trejos book))) I don’t wanted to be finishhhh 😂👻
@@MarthaT197 But it’s so good! 😭😂

Doctor Moreau I saw recently at a bookshop and now I’m curious. I hope you try it during this national holiday and let us know your thoughts!
