As a film this song makes a lot more sense. I can't stop watching this vid and I am glad you reacted to it. I think the Young Nudy part is important. The song is about fatherless children. Before he starts the song he asks the audience How many of y'all lost their pappy? There are drug dealer bars imbedded in an old bluegrass song. I think Gambino is saying Blues is the father of modern rap.

The juxtaposition between the lyrics and musical form of this song is crazy. He sings about a young fatherless man who chooses life of crime, about dealing drugs, murdering people and whatnot. It's pretty much the same story Young Nudy is rapping and his version is also upbeat, but to our ears it sounds "normal". Yet when Gambino packs the same into the form of upbeat swing song, it becomes patently absurd. But only the video is a social commentary, all of it is.
