Absolutely amazing!!! I was looking at the FX30 but considered holding off for the time being and continue working with my 6400. Amazing what you have produced with this camera. Thank you for sharing!
Are you shooting in SLog2/SGamut3 or the standard PP7 SLog2/SGamut2? The highlights turn out so beautifully with the Phantom LUTs. I’m stoked to go shoot with my a6400 more now because I really love that camera and your footage is showing me I have yet to enjoy its full potential. Your images look superb.
I just don’t understand how you make A6400 look like an A7S III? I’ve watched multiple 4K sample videos just like yours but none of their footage from A6400 looks as sharp as yours. I would love a breakdown video man. Incredible.
Thank you is much Alan! I appreciate your comment more than you think. I would love to make a breakdown video one day to showcase my process but truthfully I still think it needs a little more refinement. If it helps at all for this video I used 3 lenses, Sony 18-105 F4, Sigma 30mm F1.4, Sigma 16mm F1.4. I also shot everything in PP7/Slog2 (normal settings). In my opinion, the most challenging aspect of it all is correctly exposing Slog2 for the Phantom Luts. But anyways, I almost always use a 1/8 Tiffen Black Pro Mist. I'm not saying you need to buy any of this stuff to capture beautiful footage, but hopefully this gives you a little insight into what goes into these shots.
@@darenvaldez hey man i like what u did here, i am actually using the same but i have no idea if i'm doing it right at all for the videos of this channel
Hello Daren ! Would u kindly tell me, what is the difference between Legacy phantom luts and just a phantom luts which is listed in the website. And which one to buy ?? Waiting for your response as soon as possible 😊
Hey, thanks so much for watching and commenting! As I look back to the PhantomLut website, it seems the term "legacy" is just the name to categorize the lut model, in this case the lut is optimized for FS7/5, F55 and alpha series cameras. If you have the Sony A6400, since it's an alpha series camera, then you'd want to get the legacy. If you click on both the legacy and non legacy options you'll see they're contain the same luts within them. The reason they're split up is because different cameras contain different colour sciences and Joel (creator) has separated the Lut into different variations that are optimized for each type of colour science. So overall, don't let the term legacy concern you, what really matters is that you figure out where your camera falls into the list of options and select accordingly. Hope that helps, have a great day!
Hi Daren. I am so relieved to see that someone managed to use these LUTs with the A6400. I have two of these along with an FX30 for multi-cam shoots. Your great results give me hope! Can I ask which set you bought please? The Phantom website sells different sets for 'legacy' cameras (presumably A6400 and friends) and cameras like the FX3/FX30. I really hope I don't have to buy them twice 🙁
OK. I actually got a reply on this from Joel Famularo the Phantom himself, which is extremely kind of him. I post part of it here just in case it helps someone. He recommended buying both packs, but also said: "...bear in mind I haven't made LUTs EXACTLY for either camera - namely the A6400s or the Fx30 sensors. I recommend the closest cameras for both, so the Fs7 Legacy LUTs for the A6400s and the Fx6 LUTs for the Fx30 so the match won't be as immaculate as if you were matching an Fx6 and Fs7, but it will definitely make your life easier and should save you time. But don't be surprised if you need to do a bit of extra work tweaking the results post-LUT".
Hey! Thanks so much for watching and commenting! If I remember correctly yes I did buy the legacy version which was more tailored to my camera, the A6400. Nice to see Joel was able to get back to you and clear some of the air there. Thanks again for watching!
Very nice video!! I recently bought this phantom lut as well, however, I can not achieve this kind of grading. :( I’m a newbie and I have a sony a6400 | Sigma 16mm 1.4. I hope you don’t mind sharing your video settings when shooting these. :(
nice video! I can't believe sony's 8-bit camera(a6400) can also be color-graded like 10 bit camera (a7s3/fx3). Would there be huge difference if we use the phahtom luts for a7s3/fx3/fx6 into a6400 ??
Hey, thanks so much for watching and commenting! Thats a really good question. Since I don't personally own anything other than an A6400, I can only make the assumption that there definitely would be a difference when using other variations of the LUTS as they are produced specifically for the colour profiles of the specified cameras. Although, my guess would be that the difference between them would be a little subtle. Hope that helps! Cheers :)
@@darenvaldez Thank you for answering! I have the a6300 and I also got Phantom luts! But I don't know how many % to use the zebras! For example, as I have seen on UA-cam, 60-70 IRE skins and +100 IRE landscapes! And my question is how did you use the zebras in this video? Since I see that there is no noise and the colors are fantastic!!!
Hi there! Zebras are typically used to show which areas of the frame are OVER exposed. The way you use zebras can vary depending on the Picture Profile you choose to use if any. This video was shot using S-Gamut3.cine and Slog2, therefore I had adjusted my zebras to show when skin tones and landscape were over exposed, that way I wouldn't ruin any shot. Hope that helps. Hi Daren! Beautifully done! I'm a new subscriber and an APS-C shooter myself (a6600). While shooting in slog2 do you have to overexpose? If so, by how many stops? I'm thinking of buying Phantom Luts.
Hey Adnan! Thanks so much for watching, commenting, and even subscribing! While shooting this video I found that an over exposure value of +1.3 - +1.7 stops when using slog2 to be the most optimal.
