How to get back at all of the people swapping LS motors into rx7s

@@lonelywings1 Yeah, betting this thing runs like dog shit lol.
@@TonyM-zi9rq I see an ls fuck boy here
@@TonyM-zi9rq Funny how there are faster rotary's vs most ls motors. And it's funny how there have been many rx7s at 300k miles.
So, it's technically going to be mid engine now.
thats what i was thinking. engine behind the front wheels seems to make it so.
Mazda has always called their rotary cars "front mid engine". So yes. The vette is a proper mid engine car now.
It already was front mid engine. Lol
Anders Juel Jensen it was already
It's technically going to be broken alot as well :-)
Imagine opening a Big Mac box to find spicy sushi in it
I would honestly be happy
that is a perfect comparison
What people who ordered Japanese food and ended up finding a 8 pack of KFC wings less expect
Lars Mars Cars no. Sushi is good ans expensive Big macs are wack
Technically, the proper comparison is the Rotary is German food prepared by a Japanese chef.

JoKQeR facts!
I put a 12A into a 1977 TR7 way back in 1982. What a fun car to drive, only weighed ~2200 Lbs. I used a Holley 425CFM with the secondaries wired shut and the oil injection removed. I nixed 1000:1 Amsoil 2-Stroke oil in the gas tank every time I filled up (1.75 oz of oil to 16 Gal of gas). I called it a TRX73. The engine was new from Mazda using the factory trade-in program from a 1973 RX3. I groung all of the original motor mounts from the TR7 and attached a couple of 1/8" aluminum plates over the crossmember. then used two 6X6X1/4" steel plates to mount the engine, one on the crossmember and the other on the face of the engine. I used the original automatic transmission for the RX3 and mated the two drivelines to make a 22" driveline.Mounted the kickdown switch under the gas pedal and away we go!

Yeah, but she lies a lot.
Just like my dad used to say

Kevin Melara Wow thanks! Very interesting! Neat!
Man I just can't wipe the smile off my face watching this :D
The smaller the engine, the more space for turbos'n'intercoolers 😉
It's not only the weight loss, but the entire engine BEHIND the front axle will do a lot of good to the handling as well.
People will watch this years from now. Congrats man
And it still won't be done lmao
Rob, love the enthusiasm and the fact you're "reverse LS swapping" a rotary into the Corvette... but the LS6 made 385hp stock. Not saying that's unachievable with what you've done in the past, but getting to 500hp or 600hp is far easier and cheaper with a LS (while still NA). Regardless, it's fun to watch this unfold. Wish you did go 3 rotor for shiggles, though.
of course, and I am sure Rob knows that. For most people budget is the single most important factor for people. I think it's obviously this build is just for the laffs. He's stirring up shit creating something controversial and making people butthurt.
My perspective on the power argument is that I really never see people build the LS they swap into RX7s, let alone put a turbo on it. They are always near stock.
Ah, this is awesome. The visual of the two engines with perspective really shows the power density of the rotary. Monstrous.
Rob is making a new movement for sure... ROTARY EVERYTHING
All that space is just asking for another rotor or twin turbos ;)
LA of LA twins literally always make less power
@Lassi Kinnunen Yeah, make one engine power the front wheels and one powering the rear wheels. Go Suzuki Escudo with it.
I say rear engine that bitch and make a full FRUNK

You could get a TRZ Motorsports front subframe.
And make aero mods. So much downforce to be had.
Nice, going from 51/49 weight distribution to a much better 45/55, upping the reliability and making it sound much better. I wonder why everyone doesn't do this, seems like such a great and quick mod with nothing but upsides.
TRZ Motorsports makes a k-member for corvettes! Cleetus put one on Leroy, and i think something along those lines would help!
THIS. More room and the whole kit pulls over 100lbs off of the front end. It'd be a MUST for this build!

I love that you are undoing some of that pain and sacrilege of countless LS V8s being swapped into RX-7s and RX-8s. A 2-rotor in a Corvette, brilliant, and has to be a first. You have a new subscriber, sir.... I know it has been done, but I really want a NB Miata with either a 13b, or RB26, or perhaps one of each.
The chanel quality and Robs camera presence just skyrocketed this last few videos. It's entertaining. 😁
You could add in a extra larger Oil reservoir. So it always has enough oil
You are building the first mid engined Corvette now
It's already front mid engine. The engine is behind the front wheels.
...and there have been multiple mid engine Corvette prototypes throughout the years. It was one of Zora Duntov’s primary goals (the single man most responsible for the Corvette’s existence).
All that room for turbos and massive intercooler!
It's exciting to see. A new box section cross member with thought as to how to get the engine mounts on there would work, assuming you aren't able to just chop a chunk out of the existing cross member.

Yes! A turbo as big as the engine would be perfect right there.
inb4 chevy guys heads explode. Luv you Rob Daddy Dahm!
Oh come on, if you cant appreciate that build then youre not a petrol head!
Put a TRZ subframe in it, it'll take even more weight out.
You don't usually want weight out of the front of a Corvette, as it's pretty balanced right out of the factory. For proper weight distribution, he'd have to replace the rear sub frame as well.
Of which they also make...
@@halofreak1990 , I'm well aware of this, but weight is weight. There is a reason why almost every great super car has it's engine mid mounted, its to move weight backwards to get the power to the ground. Edit: also yes, they make a rear subframe as well.
I respect Rob! he just likes to cruuuuise. He doesn't need to go fast.
That right frame rail is fkd. You need to get the frame straight before even thinking about measuring for the motor. That right rail really needs to be replaced. You can section it in under the middle of the rocker panel. You will need to replace the FG rocker, apron, and the floor under the seat as they are bonded in.
There's really no good way to anchor these corvettes down to pull them properly so rail replacement is almost mandatory. The anchors they sell will still rip the frame when pulling pressure is applied. The anchor points are only riveted plates to the rail under the car. Good luck.
This just got interesting!!!! You have my sub !!!!
Me too, on your way to a million subs, good on ya
Most of the time people struggle to find space to fit a twin turbo setup without crazy pipe bending.... I don't think that'll be the case here.5
He could put a 20B and twin turbo each rotor and still have space left
Mount it on the roof I guess. Look at the unicorn c6 corvette
Do a clear hood.

Rob you’ve gone entire to far with getting back at the LS swaps but I love it! Haha can’t wait to see this thing on the road
Cleetus could definitely recommend an aftermarket subframe that would free up a lot of space and provide much more chassis rigidity
You mean his mechanic would.. clitus dont know shit hardly about working on stuff. That why he has a mechanic

It's exciting to see. I know some aftermarket transaxles and gearboxes can accept different shaft heights (ie Albins), I'd assume that's also expensive and would then raise other problem. You could do a V mount intercooler & radiator setup with all that room up front.
There are smaller oil pans for rotaries. Also, a frunk sounds like a great idea, although I'd personally shorten the front of the vette by like 10 inches.
Whilst engine swaps are fundamentally cool, and a rotary really does fit the ethos of design the corvette has, the statement 'with the right turbocharger, I will prove this 2 rotor will make more horsepower and torque than the LS6 did' is a tad pointless when with the right turbocharger the LS will make far more horsepower and torque than the 2 rotor ever will, and reliably. Just sayin'.
That statement is a tad pointless
Just sayin'
@@nk0723 not a pointless statement. This motor swap is generally pointless. Cool, but pointless.
Lol. It will never make the same low RPM torque as the LS either. In order to make the high horsepower number to "beat" the LS6, you are going to need a large, laggy turbo.
the difference is the rotary is a lot lighter. it will have a lot better center of gravity and weight bias. im not a rotary guy but I am about sick of everything I see being ls swapped so im good with it just being different
