I'm in a trade school where my teacher is a GM diehard. Where I'm much more a Nissan guy, I really appreciate the Rotary. This build is one of my favorites, and he always gets this look of sorrow mixed with despair when I mention your build. Thank you for that.
In the end, when and IF we ever see a time slip for this DOG. You will see your teacher is a wise man. Nothing against a rotary, but this build is all wrong. The weight and the drivetrain are all working against the strengths of the engine.
It's a common misconception that rotary engines don't make any torque. They do, just at a higher RPM. This engine if tuned properly is gonna make gobs of usable torque. All this car needs is some low gears in the rear end to make use of the torque and high RPM horsepower.
Fastlane racing co. Not and LS guy but that is in no way a “mild” build that’s a built car it’s just ugly doesn’t make it mild. Ruby went 9.08 with braking at the end of the track. I don’t think rob ever even got into the 9s in the 3 rotor.
If you can fit your shoe between your tire and the fender you are not low enough. If your turbo isn't as big as the block/keg it's not big enough. Every car guy knows that, right?
Finally I've found a place to prove what I've thought about the rotary since the late 60's. I saw a rotary placed on what I believe was a VW rear end. They removed the governor from the rotary. The little car ran 125+ mph in the quarter mile. I became a fan of the rotary motor that day. The track it ran at was in Fort Smith, AR. So, thanks for your channel. Great job Rob.
I was at Seven Stock back in 2014 talking with Elliot when you approached, and I may of overheard you talking about the 4 rotor build idea 😅 I’ve been following your channel for around 9 years now back when we both had similar bolt on setups on our FDs. It’s incredible to see how far you’ve come and all while still uploading consistent, entertaining content, still building rotaries bigger and badder than most have ever done before. One of my dream project cars/jokes was to rotary swap a corvette, so to see this coming together warms my heart 😂 keep it up, Rob!
Drove the 93 R1 mk7 in 1994, It was a blast! They were selling for $8-20k used, Oh yeah, stock Recaro seats. Good luck on your build Rob and thx for your gift to us 'Tubers"
17:14 That "bazooka" cover looks like a structural piece. Hope it fits after it's back from the frame shop. If it does, my hat's off to those guys! I'm looking forward to this project unfolding! Subscribing now!
Nah nah - shit sucks on a rotary. Best to take advantage of the uselessness of it (the rotary - and I say that endearingly as an enthusiast); by that I mean all that wasted exhaust/fuel.
Suuuup Rob, if you only knew, im a v8 guy, but best if all im a car guy, and have an 84 vette that ive been loving the idea to put a rotary in it just for fun. Soooo you are doing a c5, im even more pumped!!
The beginning is gold. Rob is giggling while telling us about his new type of latex which is lightly rubbed and it won’t fit him cause it’s too tiny. Gold😂
Clearly a "Because we can" vidio I can't wait to see the outcome! Displacement wars! Is what comes to mind when I think of this project! Or "Rotary revolt" I.d.k. Reason being, most people would think the opposite would offer more power! I wonder how much power the L.S.would made turbo'd? Then comes the thought of limited room with the L.S. Anyhow cool, fun vidio series!
Make sure you replace the rubber bushings in that torque tube while you have it out. Never seen a pair that didn't need replacing. Some large circlip pliers for the giant clip and the whole driveshaft slides out.
Rob you are most definitely the New Doc Brown and your Vett is the new DeLorean you just need the flux capacitor and the required 1.21 gigawatts of power.
The restrictor in the turbo is there so you don't have a massive drop in oil pressure, as that would drastically lower oil pressure in the engine causing premature engine failure especially at higher rpms and higher loads that performance vehicles may see.
Rob I can’t lie, I used to dislike you 4-5 years ago. But you and cleetus McFarland are easily my favorite channels out now ❤️ (funny how polarizing the two channels are in content)
As far as adapter to transmission. You need to Facebook a guy named Bill Hincher. Bill is the guru of bell housing adaptation and specializes in Japanese to misc trans. Bill built the one that’s in the Nardo grey K series truck that is breaking records right now

Being a Chevy guy i really want to see this thing break with the setup youre going for. BUT the car nut in me wants to see you just smash it! Awesome video as always, I can I ask that in a future episode of rotovette, that you do a build cost breakdown for all us viewers who would love to consider doing this in a future project.
Redo the comparisons between LS6 and 13b with that turbo/manifold setup attached. Size and weight. That’s the setup you’ll need to even come close to making the hp/tq. a stock LS would. Love the build, but I don’t like bias.
a dead stock 10 year old ls6 dyno run will now be compared to the latest and greatest 2 rotor build with a turbo as big as the engine while running e85 turned to within an inch if it's life and never make a drag strip pass. yay for a completely pointless comparison

I love messing with GM purists. This car is great.
In the end, when and IF we ever see a time slip for this DOG. You will see your teacher is a wise man.
Nothing against a rotary, but this build is all wrong. The weight and the drivetrain are all working against the strengths of the engine.
Berry Tharp the same when people swap ls in rx7
Berry Tharp "because I can" builds are pretty fun though like this.

Taking it to ls fest hahahahah rob you’re my favorite troll on UA-cam
This vs Ruby in LS Fest is a must!
Hell yeah!...
Brother
Ariansyah M ruby would murder this thing.
Fastlane racing co. Nobody with a mild build is going 7.7 and Ruby is already faster that the 3rotor ever was this thing isn’t even going to be close.
Douglas m Yes probably, I’m pretty sure it will be close. But then again Ruby is an auto and Cleetus is a freaking machine soo..
Fastlane racing co. Not and LS guy but that is in no way a “mild” build that’s a built car it’s just ugly doesn’t make it mild. Ruby went 9.08 with braking at the end of the track. I don’t think rob ever even got into the 9s in the 3 rotor.
20:03 Damn thar almost gave me a heart attack.
thought i forgot i was playing a game or something.... nope, its the video.
That noise at 20:03 scared the shit out of me.
Sounded like someone lit up a blow torch.
He pit the explosion in the wrong part of the video 😂

Rotary God has come down from the rotating heavens to give us juicy content yet again.
Can't wait to see how this turns out. Grew up with an '81 RX7. Love rotary.
I had one with 6,000 miles on the rebuild, also an '83...times of my life!
Should use the same engine cradle that Cleetus is using on Leroy. Huge space savings.
I said that on a previous video as well. A tubular k-member would give him so much extra room, and be lighter.
He should get Cleetus to teach him how to handle a torque tube anyways
This dude is so knowledgeable and takes the time to explain and go in depth and drops gems and I ain’t even in to rotarys
Screw the unboxing lol
This man is a legend bringing a rotary to ls fest is a genious idea
The turbo is the same size as the rotary engine
If you can fit your shoe between your tire and the fender you are not low enough. If your turbo isn't as big as the block/keg it's not big enough. Every car guy knows that, right?

These are ribbed for the cars’ pleasure silly. Protection is a byproduct.
Rob, listen, just listen a little bit. What if, I mean, WHAT IF, you put the 4 rotor in the Lambo???
You mean in that 1800lb Honda Insight 🤣 Bisi made his Insight do 9.29 seconds in the 1/4 with 455hp.
What if he doesnt ruin an appreciating asset?
@@Sube-Tube what if he has enough money to not give a fuck

Rob for some awesome reason I enjoy watching every second of your video so much! Just the detail you put into every cut i appreciate.
@Rob Dahm
Bro, the turbo is restricted because its a ball bearing, do NOT put restrictors on journal bearing turbos, people!
The manual on my journal bearing t2 China charger came with a restrictor in it and the manual says make sure to use it.
@@guidosaur7506 R.I.P. 3vo :(
Yeah definitely been running a restrictor on my journal bearing churbo (China T3) for 8k miles now no problem, zero shaft play or smoke.
Yea bro no journal bearings need restrictors too.
Brap Brap just to clarify... Not all of them, though. The factory td04 on my Saab is fed straight from the filter housing without a restrictor
Oh it's gonna be at LS Fest ? Just like the 4 rotor was at SEMA ? It's not necessarily a lie, we just don't know what year XD
You're an amazing person for doing this swap...just sayin.

That "baby jack" is very useful. Its tiny and light and perfect for keeping in your vehicle for just incase purposes.

FukU2222 you are def not a car enthusiast if you are hating on a engine everyone loves
@@glock1inthetop45 very few people love rotary engines compared to pistons. I love them though

The oil restrictor on turbos are only for BALL BEARING turbos. JOURNAL bearing turbos need all the oil.
Alex Endrizzi I just assumed it was a pressure thing too, doesn’t high oil pressure and flow blow out seals?
@@miatafan yes. High flow/psi on a ball bearing turbo will blow threw the seals, ending up in oil in the intake or exhaust.
