Rubbing alcohol also works well for cleanup and shaping WoodEpox. With WoodEpox, I find it's helpful to dip my putty knife in it, let the excess run off before shaping the filled section. This keeps it from getting stuck to the putty knife
This stuff is great! I have zero carpentry or construction experience. I tackled some rotten wood areas around my home to save money and the Abatron product worked amazingly well and it was really easy to use. I recommend anyone even slightly interested in trying this DIY work to go for it!
Just a few thoughts as an amateur DIY person. I used only LiquidWood. Read & follow directions carefully. If you are not familiar with it, try it first on a piece of scrap to get used to it. Thorough mixing is essential, and the 2 parts don't mix easily. You have to stir vigorously until you are sure it's completely mixed. Depending on temperature, you have a long working time. I used it at ~75 deg F, and it took at least 2+ hours to begin hardening. So don't hurry. Give it lots of time to cure - a few days unless you can heat it as the directions say. It's a really good product. I'm glad I got it.
This stuff is fantastic. I have wooden soffits with arched fascia boards that had rot damage. The arches would be difficult for an amateur carpenter such as myself to completely remove and duplicate, so I treated and filled just the damaged areas with this product. It's solid as a rock, and was easy to work with. Just follow the directions closely. Expensive, but far less $ than a pro carpenter. Worth every penny!
Does the WoodEpox putty adhere to vinyl? I am looking for a putty of exactly this consistency that can be shaped to fill cracks and holes in my vinyl siding. I have already tried so many products, but there are only so many good products you can buy in Canada.
Your comment is so old that this won't be helpful to you, but to others with this question, you only need to use the wood hardener if the wood is rotten.
Can you add oil-based semi-solid deck stain to tint WoodEpox to the wood's color, then afterwords, apply final coat of semi-solid stain for good measure?
Powdered dyes or pigments are best used with WoodEpox. Liquid or semi-solid stains can have unknown effects on the curing of the WoodEpox. We suggest tinting the WoodEpox to match the wood tone and then staining with highly pigmented liquid stains.
@@Puddycat00 bondo works in most applications as well. If it's just small areas to fix the wood epox is great imagine doing an entire home built in early 1900s today. Your estimate would be double the price for materials.
An advertisement, but does show how to use the product. This product does not work. Hardener does not get hard. After 10 HOURS I added mixed wood epox to my project. I wonder if that will harden.? Bad stuff. Don’t waste your time and money.☹️😖🙁BAD STUFF. DOESN’T WORK.
The LiquidWood can leave a tacky residue on the surface even after the penetrating portion has hardened. And it's actually best to apply the WoodEpox while the LiquidWood is still wet.... I hope the WoodEpox hardened for you and you were able to complete your project. If not, please let us know.

I've used this on my 1001 year old craftsman. Don't let the cost scare you. It's the best epoxy system I've used. I wouldn't use any other product.

Can this be used to fill in cracks and other signs of damage on old hardwood floors before refinishing them?

I love this stuff, it works, but damn its expensive for a small amount.
When you've ruined something with Bondo.
Yep
100% accurate
How long does it take to dry this stuff if I use a heat gun?
The weather will not be warm enough for long enough to let it dry properly otherwise.
someone build a house using this pls

I wouldn't use this for vinyl repairs. It doesn't bond well to plastics.
@@AbatronInc Much appreciated
The statue of liberty is made of wood???💀
Do you have to use the liquid wood 1st if it's an interior project? My wood isn't rotten, my dog chewed my stairs.

where can I buy this product

"In SERE-ARY-ARY-ARY-OOOOOH!"
still do not know where to buy it.
Online at Home Depot.
Why is this not sold at Home depot or Lowes?
I know right? Wish it was!
Mr P This is so much better product than anything they sell at the big box stores.
+Marty Lynchian I think that's probably why they don't have their product in those stores lol!
I need to buy this and get rid of the crap Bondo my contractor friend told me to buy.

Does anyone know if this can be used on particle board? I'd like to put it on my stair treads and then paint over it.
No!
Can this be used on eva foam and or 3d prints like abs or pla?
no
Cheaper and more effective to repair, replace rotten wood parts.
any retailers in Western Canada?
Lee Valley Tools
The ketchup bottle isn't labeled. That's an osha fine
Is this arborform?
They contain no solvents or water? Well wtf holds the ingredients together? smh
+doobysnacks - Both products are 2-component epoxies. They are made from liquid resins that harden when mixed. It's all about the chemical reaction.
Lol. funny!
Fairy Dust technology.
Its not empanada, man.

THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR REAL WOOD.
THIS IS JUST A TEMPORARY GIMMICK, AND EXPENSIVE.
I have used it for going on 20 years to repair wood. The areas where I used it are stronger than real wood and prevents future decay
