Just experienced my first throw today. A small plate. Very overwhelming. My husband laughed and said ok go watch some UA-cam tutorials. I found you and have been binge watching thank you so much I feel a bit more confident now.

Only taken one 3 hour class. Just bought my first wheel today... a kickwheel! Ha! Clipped a phone holder onto the front tray, clicked two vids and passed on both before finding yours. (the others didn't have smooth and clear instruction like yours do. you rock. just so you know :) ) watched your throwing videos all afternoon whilst practicing centering and cylinders and more centering and more cylinders. Yes I watched your vids a few times and times again and again as I was throwing. and kicking. . Sitting here thinking I need to go to bed right now but maybe one more video on wheel throwing and yes I am back on your channel and look look! I found a shiny new video from you! SQUEEEEEEEE!!!! THANK YOU for talking through your processes as you do them, and hand positioning, and why and how and why not and holy crap I wish I lived in NJ and could come to your 24 hour studio. I'll just have to make do with your channel. Thanks again.

Oh I love this.... thanks so much.. but a kickwheel???? Thats a challenge. I used to trim on a kickwheel but a plug makes everything easier! LOL Glad I am part of your nighttime routine! I spend too much time on tiktok

'these fingers are not invited', love that expression. I think about that when I start to center. The 'call it a pot'-expression is awesome too

Glad your back! I sometimes teach at the local art center and you are one of the people I recommend for my students. You are more detailed in explaining how to throw clay and what or why things may happen when you throw. Looking forward to more videos.

I’ve been watching your videos pretty much since you began.. and I love your style because you’re real. You’re not a potter that says, “I’m a perfect potter, you MUST do it my way or else it’s wrong”. You have always been you do you and if what I do helps then I”m happy. :) I love your sense of humor as well :). You just be you and no apologies! :)

Maybe one day... I just had someone from Michigan visit their son in NJ and made him stop by and say hi! If you ever go to NCECA, I usually go.. Looking to present in 2026 (missed the deadline for 2025)

went into the wheel today with no idea what to do bc im having a lot of trouble getting that tiny last wobble out, tried for a cylinder anyway, did not go great! Your videos have helped me understand so much, hopefully i can go back next time and get it somewhat right :)

It's great to see you back again. I am struggling with getting my cylinders taller. 5" seems to be as high as I can get. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

I LOVE your videos. I’ve watched all of them! I’ve used all your points. How much pressure should I be applying to pull up. Very soft, like a butterfly wing, or more pressure like really feeling the clay under my fingers? Also, sorry, my walls get thin in the middle, why? Looking forward to watching your new videos. Ps love the short side of the wooden tool for the walls!xxx

    • @MudgirlPottery

Ya see this is one of those things you CANT learn on the internet. LOL Whenever i grab peoples hands and apply pressure they are always SHOCKED how much pressure I apply. You dont want to coerce the clay and hope it goes up.. you want to aggressively squeeze the clay to push the top up. Visualize squeezing toothpaste from the bottom of a tube to get the toothpaste at the top of the tube to come out. Thats what you are theoretically doing!
And thanks for LOVING my videos!!

@@MudgirlPotterythank you SO much for replying! I forgot it’s not pulling, but more like pushing. Great tip, thank you xxxx
