My experience is a bit different than yours. I cannot get a flat bottom with the wire tool! Instead, I trim the bottom of my foot using a combination of the trimming tool and a small level. It works for me, and I've grown quite comfortable with it.

I have just given up trimming..I cannot get it centered on its rim.. my foot is always uneven Ive tried everything..just cant do it so I just clean up the edges with sponge
