Huberman is not likely to sue you. First, it would be negative publicity for him. Second, you're allowed to critique and to provide your opinion. That's different from slander and defamation.

Yes, I am certain that opinion and mere criticism is not defamation or slander. (Though if you call someone a con man that may go beyond the boundaries of opinion and criticism. That's inferring that someone is stealing or trying to steal through subterfuge.)
Chael is free to say, however, that Huberman is not correct, that Humberman's videos are ridiculous, and that Chael believes that Huberman's videos and commentary are highly misleading. Chael does not even have to be nice about it. Chael could say that he believes that Huberman is ignorant of practicalities.
Huberman says some pretty stupid stuff at times. (I have no fear of Huberman suing me and I am happy to give him my real name and address) I recall that Huberman stated something along the lines that one could drastically increase certain physical performance metrics 50% or more by simply cooling one's hands (e.g., with a handheld cooling device) during workouts. First, that's unbelievable, Second that's been tried in the past, and at least one study found it did not work. Third, a company that sold an inexpensive handheld cooling device for that purpose went out of business more than 6 years ago. If we could improve our fitness by .5X or more with a cheap hundred dollar cooling glove, don't you think that all or most Olympic and professional athletes would be wearing them. Don't tyou think that the former company that sold these devices would have stayed in business? Huberman definitely says ridiculous stuff.
Off topic. Chael is kind of a dope for thinking that Huberman is only or mostly only citing his own studies.

I was on TRT, 200 mg per week and that took my levels from .510 ng/dcl to 1041 ng/dcl. Tell Huberman to please explain how any natural supplement or method could possibly raise your Testosterone levels 2x higher than ACTUAL TESTOSTERONE will? Because I will do it!

@@peterjordansonthe2nd731 Exactly, anyone who understands this on a deep level because they've had their levels checked regularly or because they've been on TRT and had their levels checked, knows with absolute certainty the absurdity of Huberman's claims. Which is why Chael feels so strongly about this.
People who don't understand it just go "Oh okay quadruples your Test levels, sounds good!", bc for all they know it just takes it from 5 to 20. But if you've had your readings done and it's .400 ng/dcl, and you eat clean for 2 months, quit smoking, lose weight, and then 3 months later your levels have only gone up to .500 ng/dcl, you know there's not a damn thing on this earth naturally taking your levels to 1600 ng/dcl, let alone a cold shower! Complete fantasy. And when you then try to monetize it, that's a problem.

The idea that the dehydration creates a more concentrated sample to contain testosterone is legit a great scientific question that I completely overlooked. I think Chael has a really good case here and I would love to see this variable accounted for in future testing.
I'm a pharmacist, it's certainly legit point that he made!

I think if they take a lazy/non athletic person and do these things with them, there would be a substantial spike in growth hormone of testosterone. The fact that athletes do everything they can to get the competitive edge, means they are already at peak. So an athlete doing more sauna or whatever doesn’t have the same impact as a lazy person
That does seem like the most likely scenario, to be fair. Diminishing returns as the (pre-usage) level increases.
I am not a scientific person , but a 16x initial spike would be crazy even for unathletic people , also it would be difficult to find those willing to stay in a sauna for multiple 30mins sessions

Completely agree with Chael about the 30 minutes duration of each sauna session, this was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw Huberman talking about this study. It is even more unbelievable if you consider that the subjects had only a 5 minute rest between sessions with no shower to cool down.

Chael, what you're speaking to is actually an extremely important point. The problem with peer reviewed literature is exactly that, it's reviewed and not reproduced. Science is fundamentally based on reproducibility. These types of tests are not being reproduced before they are published, they're simply reviewed (meaning people read it over to see if it 'makes sense')

i first get to know about Huberman through joe rogan podcast, and him talking with joe, i was happy that i got introduced to a new podcast which i can listen sometimes in the journey of college from home.
but the problem i find is like in one podcast he tell us to to look at the open sky or indirectly to the sun immediately after waking up to remove the tiredness from the body and to wake up fully, but he literally take more than 30 minutes to just explaining this thing, i was like okay move on what more should we do!, and the whole 3 hour podcast's content is just we should look for 5 minutes if sky is clear and for 10 minutes if there are clouds!!!

I was a wrestler. Chael is right. I got weaker as I cut weight. Young and full of natural T. Still a struggle to endure hard 2 a day plastics workouts. No extra T from sauna exposure. I still sauna today. I wish it gave me a monster boost for recovery and building. There are benefits pushing through the extreme just not that claim.

Huberman said his personal test went from @600 to 700-800ng/dL on Indonesian Tongkat Ali and Fadogia Agrestis. He also said there were reports of people going from 200ng/dL to @800 taking Tongkat Ali. Although presumably that's not quadrupling normal test levels, it'd be recovering from some sort of hypogonadal state to the upper normal range. Still probably bullshit, as there was no source given and the impression I got was that it was anecdotes related by people that'd heard Huberman's spiel on Tongkat Ali. That was on More Plates More Dates.
The 16x growth hormone release was taking 30 minute saunas at 80 degrees celcius. That was mentioned both with Lex Fridman and on the Brain Mindset channel, "The Benefits of Sauna" (not sure if that's actually operated by Huberman. This was supposedly based on a study "Endocrine effects of repeated sauna bathing" published in Acta Physiologica Scandinavica in 1986. Unsurpisingly a study conducted in Oulu Finland on University students. The 16x results weren't sustained at all. They subsided soon after the heat exposure (back to baseline in 2 hours in another study). The responses also differ with individuals accustomed to sauna, abating with experience, and even after one week of daily exposure had drastically subsided to a short lived
People like to say that supplements aren’t regulated, but somehow as soon as a supplement works they pull it off the market.

Chael is now stressing that Huberman believes his claims (but he doesnt really believe that hahahaha). This just means he can keep attacking him with a lesser chance for a defamation threat.
