Meanwhile Derrick Lewis just does the “just get up” method
Wonder why he didn’t do that against DC?
To be fair i'am sure Francis could just get up but he's trying to work on technique
@@theeagle450 he would give up his back
@@shindrithargriethrat8408 it's a good example of how people say there are levels to this. DC is a world class wrestler and so far has been the only one that could prevent Lewis from just
getting back up.
@@christophercraft957 Strength definitely plays a part. I'm a BJJ guy, been training for a couple years, and I agree 100% with Rener Gracie: Strength and size are "natural" BJJ, they definitely do factor in to any grappling exchange. at 185 lbs with a dad bod I could try to put a Kimura on a 250 lbs athletic grappler and it's just not going to work (most likely).
Let’s not forget the great job Sam crook is doing in teaching the kids grappling over there 👊👍✌️
Thank you Sam crook for looking after our African kids. God bless you
Francis is humble, and addressing his weaknesses. He's going to be a Champion a long time.
😂
If he does his best he could be a Muhammad Ali of Mma
@@craigfoy5492 your reaction here has aged like fine milk.
@@petrpanthr3925 his grappling is still bad he’s improved from having no grappling he wrestled a striker and was too scared to throw strikes or advance when in side control it just goes to show u have no clue about grappling if u think he is good against Tom aspinall he would get either submitted or stopped very quickly
@@petrpanthr3925 I’d give him 1 stripe on a white belt
Trying to kimora an arm thats the size of your entire body 😂
He was using it to sweep.
@@MAYH3M0NE he could have maybe finished it maybe but Francis leg pummeled nicely. Also he didn’t try a reverse kimura so his chain grappling was disrupted, this guy is a beast tho using technique to completely nullify Francis’s attacks
More like trying to Kimura a leg =/
Kimura is a power move.
Nice sweep from Francis at 3:18
Francis has 0 guard, not even half a guard lol
he doesnt need it
@@deltoids1151 one punch man
@@deltoids1151 you don't need it until you need it.
@@elmundir basically. But his takedown defence is world class 😂
@@deltoids1151 he does, just doesn't know it, a grappler will come along and handle him if he doesn't learn
The champ did the right thing against the black belt. As a big man you have to conserve energy and pick your moments to explode. If you don't have patience you'll gas out!
😂
Good cardio... he stayed relaxed.. he's getting better..
Its really good seeing him improving, im sure francis will be good one day.
Obviously he stayed relax, they’re not trying to strike him
@@x1asuka He's saying Francis wasn't a spaz despite having over 100 lbs on this guy.
Respect. I learned watching both of these guys
lol watching Francis try to be technical with a guy half his size
I fail to see why that is amusing? Are you trying to say he is so big there is no point in him trying to be technical? Or is it something else?
His half guard was weak, he missed as easy kimura, and several chances for some easy sweeps.
@@benbray4982 Lmao can't wait to see your video of you rolling with Sam Crook or Francis. Can't wait to see you exploit all these holes you claim to see.
@@benbray4982 This is a playful roll you dumbasses in the comments, they both had opportunities to finish and chose not to, especially francis who's using as less raw power as he could.
@@igipop14 it's amusing, because big guys like Francis are rarely technical, they rarely ever have to actually rely on technique, because they are almost never stopped by other people's size and strength.
And yes it's amusing to watch because in terms of skill big guys are almost always eternal white belts.
Reminds me of what Danaher said on Lex Friedman’s podcast about physical attributes, skills and experience. Sometimes physical freaks just can do amazing things. He’s getting better go Francis!
Yup
Gonna be awesome to watch
Love stipe but nobody taking that belt from Francis
@@kodykindhart5644 But the guy couldnt take francis to the ground
Francis has gotten good, very patient on bottom side control, made the other guy create space.
Wtf straightening ur arm because u can’t do anything else he’s terrible
@@craigfoy5492 yeah all he did is lie there with his arm straight, idiot.
He would get worked by any competitive BJJ black belt grappling but all he needs is 1 punch or kick to land and fight is over 99.9% of the time . Some people just have that super human size and strength. I believe that power is something you are either born with or born without . Anyone can work and become stronger but that power power is something that a person is birthed and blessed with . The rare few may be able to obtain it through hard work but 99.9% of the time one must be born with it
@Edward Wiatrowski I understand where you’re coming from, but I respectfully disagree. In my humble good for nothing opinion, if you can learn the right striking techniques as you develop them over time the techniques will begin to gain power and speed. I find that accuracy and on the fly adjustments is what sets the best from the greats. You could have more legitimate experience than me and I could be an idiot (most of the time I am) I thought I’d just share my two cents :))
Well I suppose to a degree you're right. I guess (punching) power is dependent on a few things, some of which you can influence and some which you can't. For instance, fast twitch muscle mass obviously plays an important factor, which is something you can work on. But where your ligaments are attached to the bone probably plays a large factor as well (torque), which of course you can't influence. Who knows, maybe Francis has just hit the genetic jackpot when it comes to punching power. The visible part of his physique definitely suggests that's the case.
@@fuckassnut some people just have it. Ngannou is one of the rare ones that all he needs is for his punch to just touch you. Doesn’t matter where it touches nor how accurate, if he touches you, you will feel and probably fear it lol
@@josephjuarez7548 you’re right technique matters , accuracy matters . Atleast for the 99.9 % ers of the world but those rare ones all they need is to touch you lol ngannou is the .1% no doubt
This was great to see. Lovely pace
Thoroughly impressed by both of these athletes!
That beautiful whistling
That pressure and grip strength from Francis made Sam work
Sam is an absolute beast! Beast
Awesome to see Francis working on his JJ and Sam Cook is Legit.
Francis v. Ryan hall,grappling
100 bucks on ryan, this guy didn’t capitalize on so many leg lock entries, i don’t know if it’s a lack of skill or something else but attacking the legs or the back is the most reasonable thing you could do against a guy like that
@@murphyrogers1497they were just drilling and learning mate
I think I just understood what we’re doing when rolling, pass their guard to side control, then from side control to full mount or to finish, if in full mount go for finish. Then if you’re on your back, go for full guard, after full guard go for sweeps or finish. Feel free to correct me, I want to understand this shit.
Not bad :)
Think of it as a game
Pretty much
If you're on the back that should be the best finishing postion. I only say "should" because some people do better in other positions BUT the back is the most vulnerable position.. humans are not designed to fight people that are behind them
@Rick pellegrom bjj is bull****
Seems to be Francis' new gym in Cameroon?
I bet everyone pays their dues on time
Yes, Cameroon.....
Sam’s gonna have a sore face tomorrow! 😄
Francis is a Beast at what ever he sets his mind to
Yeah but derrick lewis the baddest blue belt in Texas!
People will say some dumb nonsense, but Francis is just plain impressive
He should be impressive he's been learning grappling for a while now nearly everyday if you have your own coach to teach you it should only take between 3 to 5 years to become a black belt in jui jitsu
pls tell me what was impressive in this roll?
@@niklashansson6552 he didn’t KO the guy……🤣🤣🤣🤣
His grappling is horrible
@@ronmoore7656 yes indeed! Not a single technical move. The only thing i see thats good is that he takes underhook control. Impossible to be a dominant champ with this level of grappling skills.
Very nice. It's impressive that he resists the allure of using his strength. There are many spots where he could have powered his way through and used his strength advantage to crush his opponent, but instead he kept relaxed and playful the whole roll.
Do you even roll bro?
@@mayatiita1 Yes, bro.
Who is here after he beat Cyril with his grappling
Me
That cartwheel at the end
Francis being extremely technical and methodical here! Makes me think he may be on top for a very long time
the funny part is I think the opposite because of this video I am very afraid to see how bad is his ground game
He improved A LOT on his wresling defense but by watching this video I think he need to work more on his ground game
@@elmundir he’ll be fine . How many heavy weights are actually masters at grappling? They are all more likely strikers.. Francis will be fine his wrestling is only going to get better too
@@elmundir Same, this is terrible. Francis was doing nothing technical the other guy was just passing at will
Him flipping Francis was amazing
Ngannou about to be the goat if he keeps putting in time on the mat
Man when Francis framed on his thigh... You can see his hand on both sides of the man's thigh! Almost like a man grabbing a child's wrist! 😂😲
He rolls like a gentleman. Works technique and is courteous with his size.
francis is hard gourd in bjj too.like guys, from las vegas😃😃😃
Power only gets you so far. Good technique by Francis
He got on top of him and could have killed the black belt, bjj means shi*
@@vorvzakon3429 yeah but francis has experience dummy
@@russelsprout2155 Experience? Are you stupi*?
@@vorvzakon3429 im a purple belt and an mma fighter . Francis has about blue belt bjj skills. Combined with his power and size thats enough to beat a much smaller black belt. But if the black belt was heavier Francis would be screwed
@@russelsprout2155 No, where is the source that Francis has a blue belt? That is not blue belt skills 🤣🤣🤣 This is a beginner with no experience. Francis has some defensive wrestling experience know trough Randy Couture but BJJ? No BJJ skills at all besides leg locks, arm traingles and a standart rear naked choke. Francis can just pick him up off the ground because Weight,Strenght beats skills if the skilled guy is much smaller and weaker
We have a new heavyweight champion guys
The knee on belly from hell... Not sure if they have a gi for Ngannou but he needs to put one on as well.
Never let the bigger guy get on top cus once he does, good luck escaping
3:17 that sweep jesus.....
People are sleeping on Francis grappling skills. He shows very good movements.
Sam has them skillz
That crossface looked mean lol
This looks like a national geographic episode
Not bad! He's getting his mat time in. Needs a lot more though. He needs a Werdum to practice with. Or what's that big Grace's name?
Roger
Wonder why sam didn’t attempt the vonflu choke near the end
For that size the champ has.. Sam is Controlling very good, rickson style
The level of control on display...he could easily musle up...
He can grab his whole leg with 1 hand😳
He could've submitted Ngannou at 5:42
I heard a kid get slapped for not watching
Max was here
Francis is a monster .
Francis would be scary as fuck if he mastered every aspect of MMA, grappling and striking
Francis best grappler in the world
like wresting a tree
This guy held off on leg locks, what a ego less teacher very funny too
fantastic teacher !
J’ai tellement mal de savoir que Francis a déjà oublié sam crook
don't lie stipe, don't lie
That pass at 1:50.. very cool. Not sure it would work unless the opponent has very long legs. Name for the pass anyone?
There's no official name for it but essentially what he did was get a cross face switches hips frame on a leg and back step his leg past half guard you can do it on anyone the key is to not get swept while you're switching your hips and applying the crossface
I noticed it - I think it will work as long as you have the butterfly hook in on top. Then he just windshield wipers his legs.
The key is to put him in these positions. So then he knows how to get out and possibly reverse. Comfortable being uncomfortable
Bjj is a lot harder to learn then throwing hands
what is Francis going for at 3:55? He has no arm in.
Francis looks technically sound. By no means will he be relying on his grappling. But if it goes there I’m glad he’s working hard on it
Francis needs to bridge more IMO
Francis off his cycle right now? Looks smaller than usual.
Yes
I trained with Sam for a very short while at #fightworx Torquay, Devon, uk . Very polite, helpful unassuming guy.
This white boy did really good for being the smaller grappler
His arm was way extended at the start should have been am arm bar
Grappling and MMA are different sports
I'm surprised this video wasn't titled "Jiu-jitsu vs MMA", or some other nonsense like that.
He should roll with werdum
Ngannou is still pretty intermediate skill wise in all areas. He's going to be unstoppable if he keeps improving.
What would you say he is in jits?
A blue belt?
4th stripe white belt or like new blue belt. hard to tell based on their flow roll though
Jon Jones might ragdoll him down there
To rag doll someone is a wrestling term. It has not application when referring to Newaza (ground game).
@@mayatiita1 thanks Marcus.
If he doesn't get knocked out before

Francis may not have much ground game but I wouldn't want to be Sam at 4:00 minutes.lol
Not bad... for 2 white belts
@4:00 I tap when people breathe on me like that. Nasty.
He actually has no guard, but in MMA is just about waiting to stand back up etc. Z guard to saddle hardly worth his time etc.
If you have no guard you'll get ground n pounded
@@dubstepXpower obviously he has a rudimentary understanding of fighting on his back for MMA purposes. I'm just saying that, in a purely bjj context, his guard is very weak.
Francis might be better learning wrestling with all that power
Francis just gave ME cauliflower ear and 2 herniated discs in my neck.
Sam cook is made from stones apparently
If JJ got him on the ground , doubt he will survive.
Surprised to see he isn't using some fundamentals here. I know he's bigger and stronger than most people, but if you're not using fundamentals in practice and missing opportunities, if you end up on the ground, you'll be poorly drilled and use so much more energy than you need to. I guess that's the downside of being a freak
So we can the size difference. No need to be cliche. Not sure why all the insecure rollers always need state obvious shit JUST in case they lose. The black is clear still more skilful anyhow
Crazy how many black belts still to that 1992 style foot lock that never works. Nice roll though. If francis continues to develop his wrestling and bjj he could have the belt till the frickn sun explodes.
Uhhhh do you mean a straight ankle lock? It's the first (and often only) leg lock you learn at white belt. That's because it works.
Straight ankle lock is the fastest submissions in ADCC ever. Micky Muscameci. I'm sure I butchered the spelling of his last name.
0:12
everytime i did this, i got my wrist hipsmashed. i guess nobody likes me :(
It’s scary to think when Francis was on top of the dude if with ZERO technique he just wrenches on homies neck as hard as he can he ruins his life thank god he doesn’t just go around hurting people
Efe would kill francis
Нгану а грепплинге полный ноль 👎🤷🏻♂️, с такой борьбой ему не бывать Чемпионом
Francis is way too content to lay flat on his back with both shoulders on the mat. Really needs to get in the habit of going to his side and digging an under hook. He’d be much harder to hold down. He’s lucky there aren’t many good heavyweight grapplers in the ufc currently.
I just imagine 😁 Khabib would crush Nganou on the ground like a primary school kid
That hand on the hip defense is really bad, you switch your hips hard on that and you can break his wrist
Get in an actual good comment that ain’t blowing smoke up nnganou arse
If this dude got really good at grappling it would be terrifying. Imagine his top pressure
white betche wiffa one stripee
porra
So you don't need ju jitsu to be a ufc champ
Getting better but still white belt skills. Need to train more.
Nagganu exposed, ZERO Jitc
He'd still be scary from his back in MMA though. I imagine even short shots from him are a nightmare to work around.

Oh so get him on the ground he can’t wrestle just punch
Francis is trying to use only technic no power at all
What technique
4:29 is where sports BJJ shows its limitations. In an MMA or street fight context Francis would punch a hole through the opponent’s face.
I think Francis is working on technique there, at any moment he could get up i believe
Just bcoz he is big that doesn't mean he will get up. There is no shame accepting the fact that francis will easily lose to a black belt in a grappling match. And bjj is the most effective in street fight
@@342crazy666 It's true i'm a kikboxer and muy thai dude but i use my grappling skills for defend myself.
Gracie Jiu Jitsu IS street fighting.
Nah - he had one arm and one leg tied up - Francis needed his hand to post - you can see Sam de-stabilizing him quite nicely. If Francis had pulled his arm back for a punch he would have gotten swept forward towards the camera. I agree in general though - sports BJJ mentality can get you smacked in the face - just not in that instance. Oh - actually he DOES get swept a few seconds later. For sure though Francis had plenty of opportunities to punch him before and after that.
Undeniably awesome MMA fighter with primitive jitz.
Poor white belt
