This is so refreshing. These guys were just being themselves, not tip-toeing over every word they uttered like today's mainstream comedians who are barely off the TV.
These greats may be dead now but by Christ they lived in the greatest era. No mobile phones or internet and still in a day where common sense prevailed.
I'm 70 as well and used to love the comedians. The joke about going home late reminded me of the times I was late home, I stood in the dark at my door thinking of different excuses and just made it worse because it made me ever more late
Bernard Manning was absolutely the boss at he's game, just my opinion and I know we all have our own favourites but yes! They were all hilarious. What I'd give for those glory days of British comedy to be here again.

This is comedy I listened too as a kid in the 70's and 80's. My mother had a fantastic sense of humour and she watched all the comedy on TV. I remember her watching the Comedians. I was young and didn't really understand the jokes but I enjoyed hearing my mum laugh. I would always sit and watch Cannon And Ball, Morecombe And Wise and Last Of The Summer Wine. As I hit my teenage years, I grew more towards Bernard Manning, Chubby Brown and Kevin Bloody Wilson. Then alternative comedy scene came in which I also enjoyed, shows like The Young Ones, Bottom and Filthy Rich and Cat Flap. So I thank my mum for bringing comedy in to my life. A sense of humour is the best gift that nature gave to us. And did you know what - I have even shared humour with a Dog, they really do understand humour. I have found that Staffordshire Bull Terriers have the best sense of humour.
Brilliant. Great fun from the days before laughing became illegal. The Comedians in the early 70s was one of the best comedy shows ever. Many went on to become major tv stars.
