WHAT A FANTASTIC VID!!! The beef wrapped in noire best u have Eva had says heaps John!!!! 🤤 👅🥩 And amazake presentation too!!!! Love to try the dried salmon every where too!!! So much history loved it all!!! 👌🏻🎌
Fantastic video quality, I love when you go on trips outside of Tokyo and take the time to explain what the local people have to offer people to come and enjoy their home town. You do such a great job and so much content to your videos not Limited to one aspect of life!
Thanks for writing - I love Japan and see the beauty in places that often go un-noticed. I’ll keep looking for towns and city’s like this that are real jewels that few people know about yet
Bravo John! This livestream was one of my favorites on the OIJ Go channel. Crystal clear video quality. I think you are going to be the one who put Murakami on the tourist trail.
I really love seeing and experiencing Japan through your eyes John. But I do not like how hungry I get watching you eat the delicious street foods. 😢 You are making me hungry John! Your enthusiasm is infectious. Thanks for another amazing experience.
I know you probably aren't thrilled with the watermark, but it's brief and the video quality is *beautiful* John. It makes the lives much more immersive for me, feels like we're walking around together just hanging out. And the patina of the old town really showed off that resolution.
I really enjoyed this livestream. This is coming strong as one of my favorites. Has a similar winter/autumn-cold but warm peaceful vibe of ur Mt. Daisen episodes and other interesting locations. Can't wait for the salmon episode. It will be in your Only in Japan John Daub channel i guess?
Just finished 'traveling' the coastline road north of Murakami via Google Maps, Street View, would be a good motorcycle trip. To me, Japan must be traveled on a motorcycle. So much to explore.
The cured salmon reminds me of Scandanavian Gravlax salmon. I think the Gravlax being the paste/sauce that accompanies it! Murakami reminds me of England before the supermarket chains put a lot of butchers and other shops out of business.
It seems with 1080p that when it lags, the lags are longer and you miss more of what is said. So I think 720p is better overall. I think what makes this channel special is your knowledge from having lived in Japan so long. So missing half a sentence or a nugget of information is more of a loss than lower resolution in my opinion. We come here for you John 🙂
Wait, I thought that the salmon was called Shiobiki, not Iyoboya (apologies if that's not what do said). I learned about it from an aunt who lives in Murakami
To be honest, I’ve heard so many regional usages of the word but also different styles tomorrow it change the word too. “Shio” means salt so I assume it’s this particular style but I’m a beginner at Murakami salmon and hope they invite me back for the season someday. It’s a fascinating part of Niigata!
Me again; someone, maybe you.. did a video of small town homes, where the government helped the homeowners bring up to regulation places where people could rent our at a remarkably reasonable rate, which helps the local economy stay vibrant.. this could even promote a person from out of the country to have a home there. Skateboarding olympics; huh a sport? About as boring as curling.. or watching golf or tennis on TV..
Thank you so much for upgrading you video quality!! So much better🤙🏽🤙🏽
Awesome livestream. Loving the vibes of this town. It was quite enjoyable and plus with the clearer resolution, makes it even better. Kudos! 👍
It's always magnificent to see old towns like that, thank you for sharing.

Yep, love these "countryside" trips. A lot of other folks cover Tokyo but not many creators cover places outside Tokyo or maybe Osaka/Kyoto.
the quality of that new streaming app is tremendous. it's so much better than before.
I’m happy with it so far. They’re using HEVC codec which UA-cam can’t right now
The Stream , is like Dream !!! Amazing !!!🙌🏻
Strolling and eating your way through another gem of a town! Thank you!
even with the small watermark, the 1080p quality is most definitely worth it! this feels much more immersive like we are actually there!
Thank you so much for 1080!
Great video and just loving the video Quality.
Thank you! Keep it up. I have so much to say, I am speechless. "Sea of Japan" good territory to explore.

I have been taking notes of all these places covered in different places in Japan for my future visit :).
great video quality. you can see so much more detail in the stream!
you are the best John thank you for sharing! Merry Christmas!

Amazing wow .
Nice one!

A very enjoyable hour!!!
I definitely would like to visit this town.
I miss your life 😢 watching it now 😊
Wonderful place.✌️
neat little city.
That food looked so umai!🍢🍡
Very interesting place. Unlike Tokyo almost no English signs except for the P parking signs.
Niigata, I understand that area farms some of the worlds best quality Koi fish.

omg i missed the live stream oh well next month is Japanuary. Next month, I will be in Japan.
Japanuary! 😂 love that ٩(^‿^)۶ the best month of the year 🎌
Great quality stream and wonderful town. The meat stick and amazake looked good. Was the salmon salty? Thanks John.
Thanks 😊 yes - salty. They salt it then hang it to dry. It’s quite good 😋
Thank you for reminding me to hit like.

Is the salted salmon flesh tough compared to smoked salmon?
How's the rent control there?
The rent, it’s a fraction of what Tokyo is!
Almost feels like a cop car in the back of that taxi.. want a pair of handcuffs to wear until you're out?
Wait, what? How’d they find me? 😏
@@onlyinjapanGO it will be OK, your wife has the key and plans for you
For a Japenese town I don't see any trees thhats so sad.

It’s called the Akiya Bank. I did a few starting with one in Kobayashi, Miyazaki in 2018 or 2019.

only the zombies are missing from this town🤣
