I think those teeter totters were in the park right behind my house, a few years back, right between St. Charles and Whitman drive.

My uncle worked here his entire career…40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s. Incredible pay. My mom worked as an executive assistant in the 40’s. She said the pay was incredible but she really wanted to teach so she took a huge pay cut to do that.
Who would have thought that it was not Dow that poisoned all of us in the 70’s but a little chemical company 28 miles away.

1:18 is that the Memorial Presbyterian Church under construction? I though it was built in the early 50s, bout the time this was filmed.

This was one of the best Companies in the world for an hourly worker back in those days, if those people only knew how upper management have absolutely destroyed this Company, the day I went to work for Dow as a Welder Pipefitter was one of the best days of my life, but that didn't last long, they went in a different direction with upper management that took the Company in a different direction, cut the wages of the craftsmen by two thirds, down to 8.49 an hour, some very tough times, went to work for a much better Company, called Three Rivers Construction.

How long ago did you work there? I remember in the early 2000s they outsourced the skilled trades. I worked at Dow starting in 2004 and two years later went to Dow Corning. Dow then bought Dow Corning and put me out of a job.

@@alexandermakrianis I started in 1990, they forced me to quit in 2004, still working for Three Rivers, still a much better company to work for, pay you a lot better too if you're good.

@@user-Dr. do you know Troy M. ? I don't want to say his last name but I figure you'd know who I'm talking about. He worked with me at Dow Corning and he's a safety rep for Three Rivers currently.

@@alexandermakrianis I do know who you're talking about, don't really know him though, I've been the imbedded welder out at HIMS medical for the past 11 years, don't hardly see any TRC people, this is now a Dupont sight.
Dow may be a good company for some, but they just hate the working man.

The company destroyed the rivers and the health of the area and continues to do so unconfronted

They’re actually cleaning up the river under close watch of the epa and are funding the entire operation, they no longer dump any waste anywhere and are pioneering new safe disposal methods for each of their byproducts so I’d say they’re doing a terrible job of continuing the pollution, a bit of advice for you, look things up before you decide to go all keyboard warrior about a topic you clearly haven’t looked into since before they started the cleanup operation in 2012 (which is now complete on the river itself and now they’re even tracking down traces in the floodplain and cleaning those up too which is actually going above and beyond what they need to do)

No sorry, S.C. Johnson purchased Dow Chemical's DowBrands division, which included Ziploc, Saran, Fantastik, Glass Plus, Scrubbing Bubbles, and Spray 'n Wash. Dow made the move to get out of retail in the early '80s. S.C. Johnson has no controlling interest in Dow Chemical.

I recall being able to purchase all those products with my mom's friend, in the 90s, at the Dow Chemical employees store. They closed the employee store sometime in the 90s.
