I grew up in Midland, graduated from Midland Senior High in 1961. I went to The University of Michigan Medical School and got my MD in 1968. I was an intern and resident at Midland Hospital 1968-1970 and 1972-73. I spent the next several decades in other places. When I returned to visit Michigan for my 50th medical class reunion in 2018 there were many nostalgic moments. The biggest change for me was the transformation of the local hospital into the huge Mid-Michigan Medical Center. Because Dow Chemical started there almost all the chemical research was done in Midland. There were a lot of educated people at the plant. The voters valued education and were willing to finance the public schools. Midland, sitting over a "sea of brine" was an island of economic success in the Lower Peninsula when the Upper Peninsula mines and forests ceased operation and the auto plants in Detroit closed.
Okay, I’m 19 and work for the city. I’ve got to say, once you’re really in college you probably want to leave you get so bored. Also can add that we now are an annual host of the PGA
There's plenty to do especially in the summer Bon fires, tennis, golf, bike rides, frisbee golf, the tridge, gardening. In the winter there's indoor stuff!
I am a michigander that's been living in Detroit my whole life. The Midland is definitely a place I'm considering moving to if I can't leave Michigan. And as a lover of nature and gardens myself, Dow gardens sounds promising. And it's not just the activities, the economy is great I hear, there's not much crime and the people tend to be polite
So cool you are considering Midland! You can have a nice big house and garden for not too much money. It's super safe. People are nice. Great place to live!
Great video and excellent drone footage. I've lived in the midlands for almost 10 years and it is a hidden gem that's overlooked by many. Lots of exciting things to do here and a budding coffeehouse and restaurant scene as well. Thanks for making this video and highlighting Midland!

Hey thanks for the video!!! Some of my best buddies live in Midland and Bay City. I currently live in Montrose Co. and I'm seriously thinking about buying property in Midland to be close to my crew. Native Coloradoan and I love my state but loved it more 3 million less ppl ago. Due to climate change and being close to my buds weighing my options. Taxes are really high in Michigan compared to Colorado so liking at all my options.

Loved the video, tons of lovely footage of a place I've called home my whole life, though I gotta say flying your drone over loons stadium while a game is going on is a bad idea, if that is your footage please fly responsibly. As a fellow drone pilot none of us want to see anyone get hurt or the rules get more restrictive.

I have to agree with ebass930. Loved the video but I’d be careful flying over events like that. It’s not a state regulation but the FAA isn’t particularly fond of flying over events and flying or hovering over people. There’s only one DJI drone I know of that it’s allowed to fly over people and it requires a propellor guard and swapping to a lighter Japanese battery to fit under the weight limit.
There are some stores and a very empty mall. They have a farmer’s market and downtown area. It’s not a shopping or restaurant hot spot though by any means. It has a few nice restaurants downtown!

I worked at dow gardens a few years ago and I remember having to tell someone not to fly a drone because it was against the rules. Maybe it was you!

Great video….curious if there is a shopping district with malls/outlets as well as outdoor markets in Midland? What are the most popular restaurants?
There are some stores and a very empty mall. They have a farmer’s market and downtown area. It’s not a shopping or restaurant hot spot though by any means. It has a few nice restaurants downtown!
