“Hey Quincy, This is me” I don’t know why this makes me tear up instantly. With just those words, he peels back all the stardom and iconic persona and we all get a glimpse into their friendship. It’s not two stars anymore, its too life long friends. Brothers. being seen and know and understood by a friend. Man… priceless.
@@crystalj9725 Literally watching it now and yup. To be aware of our history is to be proud and grateful...so many did so much. When Colin Powell came out and saluted those Tuskegee Airmen...yeah, I was done.
If it wasn't for Ray Charles taking Quincy under his wing at the age of 14 who knows where music would be today. Thats a true friendship though, Ray died 2 years after this performance, Friends for over 70 years.
We can hear it in Ray's voice. That's decades of love, respect, friendship, etc. When he speaks at the end ~1:30; there's no keeping these eyes dry ... not a chance!
This gets me teared up no matter how many times I go back to it. One of my favorite pieces of music. Aside from the soulfulness and love in his voice, it's his piano playing and those chords that I think takes you to a special place.
I've cried like a baby listening to this... I've thought about their fantastic friendship and mine with my buddy... Life is nothing without our friends, they are like angels in our life
There's so much behind the tone and the age of his voice. In a few moments a lifetime of laughs, pains, ups and downs is expressed in a little message sung by a great friend. Wow
Any musician who tears up watching this clip (repeatedly)….CHEERS. I love you all. This is THE most emotional and personal musical tribute I’ve seen from one musician to another.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 So beautiful that Ray did this just three years before he died. They were musical brothers right until the end. 2024: Rest peacefully,Quincy. Hope you’re reunited with Ray and all of the other musical greats up there making heavenly music.
I just rewatched "Quincy" last night, and this tore me UP. What a love letter to his good friend, and Rashida should be more than proud of herself for a great, great doc about her dad. I cried through this part, and most of the rest of the doc. Wow! What a true renaissance man, and a genius. The people he worked with, guided and helped out along the way can never be measured. I love this man.
I had the high honor of interviewing Mr Jones, and he couldn't have been friendlier and more open, honest and funny. One of the true geniuses in modern music who told me "look, when you go in the studio with someone like Frank (Sinatra) or Ray, you better be on your game..cus those guys don't play." Neither did the man they called 'Q'. RIP, and say hi to Brother Ray for us.
Ray was… man.. wow.. god bless him that performance just broke my heart.. for a man at the end of his life to be that vunerable and that beautiful.. its profoundly touching
talk about depth. wow what a song. the look in Quincy's face, he travelled back in time in his mind to them as young men doing their thing and exploring their creativity and being close pals.
I thought about this song when I watched the Quincy documentary and how much it got me at the time. I watch it now and it still gets me. Their friendship was beautiful in every facet.
😲 HE IS THE ONLY GUY THAT CAN CHANGE TO A DIFFERENT CORD, AND USE 12 BEAUTIFUL, SOUL-FILLED NOTES TO DO IT... COUNT HOW MANY CORDS HE USES WHILE CHANGING CORDS....... THAT IS TOTALLY AWSOME/HEART FELT/ BEAUTIFUL TALENT RIGHT THERE!!! 😢 MAKES ME TEAR UP WHEN HE SAYS"HEY QUINCEY... THIS IS ME" EPIC/LEGEND!!!
After watching Quincy Jones Special i had to start and continue studying and loving the music that my grandfather left me. Thank you Mr.Quincy and Mr.Ray for showing me that the way i love my friends is not bad but instead is the only way......... God bless you guys... and i love you guys
Like many others I came here from watching the documentary. From the moment he says "Hey Quincy" my eyes got filled with tears. This was the hardest 1:45 of time I had to endure. What a BEAUTIFUL Tribute!! I miss Ray Charles. But I miss My Mom~My Buddy even more.
Everytime i cry like a baby watching this and thinking to their wonderful friendship..like quincy helped ray and how Ray helped Quincy...stunning performance by a genius,my Brother Ray.
Quincy, que a escuchado muchas canciones y compuesto para muchos artistas, vino a quebrarse con una progresión sencilla tengo un solo amigo, lo considero mi mejor amigo, aunque el no lo sabe, pero el tiene a sus mejores amigos, solo queda decirle lo que dice Ray : I love you man, I love you esto es para ti, esta canción, mi amigo
Reunited In heaven, Rest in peace Quincy and Ray

Telling your friends you love them is the ultimate showing of maturity.

“Hey Quincy, This is me” I don’t know why this makes me tear up instantly.

Hey, Dave, it's Jared from work. Fancy seeing you here. This moment was incredible. I can't stop thinking about it.
You too, cool it brought similar people together ;) :)
"Awww, Quincy...I love you, man...I love you..." That's over 40 years of friendship talking right there...
If it wasn't for Ray Charles taking Quincy under his wing at the age of 14 who knows where music would be today. Thats a true friendship though, Ray died 2 years after this performance, Friends for over 70 years.
70 years! Amazing, I didn't know that. Thanks for that. No wonder this song cuts so deep.
That song was 22 words and it said more than most songs ever will.
no kiddin
the emotion of his voice said all
Man this made me cry.

How can people give this song a thumbs down we live in a fucked up world...
If you can watch this without tearing up, call a coroner because you’re friggin dead inside bro.
Ray was 18 and Quincy was 14 when they met in Seattle. Life can be amazing!!!
Any musician who tears up watching this clip (repeatedly)….CHEERS.
I love you all. This is THE most emotional and personal musical tribute I’ve seen from one musician to another.
Rays voice omg. I can't help but cry. One of THE greatest vocalist ever. Ohh I miss him
Great documentary on Quincy as well
When Ray Charles said my buddy my heart went in my throat
I love this song so much. Just shows that men can have a loving friendship with their fellow man, and that is beautiful.
