    I just bought an 2006 with a Hemi for $4000. I got it as a high tide truck for when the ocean or the Pamlico Sound overwashes the roads. Vehicles on our island rust out quickly and I wanted to keep my Expedition out of the salt water. I really like the Commander and i think i may need to get something else to keep my jeep out of the saltwater as well.

    Old Man Emu (OME) has standard and heavy duty coil springs and Bilstien has struts and shocks for WK/XK. A MUCH better upgrade than any puck "lift". Hmmm, that's an interesting auxiliary fuel container option.

    Looks amazing! Love the bumpers and the tire arm... I might look into those soon.
    I'm currently replacing my hemi starter motor... omg, what a project that is. I really want to have a few words with the engineer that designed the Commander's engine bay!
    Have you thought about adding some auxiliary gauges, e.g., oil pressure, trans temp, oil temp, coolant temp,... ? Also, I've been looking at adding cooling vents to my hood to keep temps down in my engine bay as these hemis like to run stupid hot. I've replaced my stock 203* thermostat with a 180* which helps a ton (I live in FLA so winter temps don't give me a problem... I know this might not work well for those that live up North, but it would be easy enough to swap out in the winter if need be). Anyway, I'm just a bit paranoid about overheating the engine as it can lead to valve seat failure and ultimately engine failure which is a 6000$ repair.

    • @OJCoz
      @OJCoz  Рік тому

      Hey JK thanks for your post man! Yeah that Hemi starter sounds like a big project. Good luck. I haven’t really looked into adding all the gauges but your absolutely right, the engine does get super hot. My radiator cracked earlier this year and it was a beast to replace because of the spacing and I WAS NOT taking off my bumper haha. Since then I’ve had to keep a real close eye on it. When I replaced I did upgrade to an all aluminum radiator since the OEM has a lot of plastic parts and that was what cracked. I wish you luck brother. Our trucks are getting up there In age :)

    • @jkmarshall3553
      @jkmarshall3553 Рік тому +1

      @@OJCoz I have a BullyDog tuner for my Commander which adds options for transmission temp and coolant temp (I'd love to have oil pressure and temp). I think the Diablo might have more gauge features. I'll have to check that one out again. Also, I was reading last night that some people remove or cut the rear engine bay seal near the cowl which acts like a vent (but with no water downpour on the engine and components when it rains, which is why I haven't added those vents to the hood yet.) I'm going to give it a try and see if I notice a difference in temps.
      Yeah, they're getting up there, but honestly, mine has 145k miles and looks brand new. I think I can easily get another 50 or 75k miles out of it before I start considering something else. Incidentally, my bro-inlaw's hemi 5.7 in his Ram 1500 dropped valve seats at around 230k miles after overheating. That was a 5000k+$ repair.
      Have a great weekend!

    • @OJCoz

      What’s up brother, all I did for the axe was take the trim off, drill holes for the quick fist mounts and clipped the trim back up. It holds up great! Check out my video called “battle axe amd quick fist mount install” I made about 8 months ago and it goes into more detail.

      @@OJCoz Hey, thanks for this. Apologies replying a year later! I do have a few questions but rather than spread them out in your videos, I'll keep them all here. For the first, I cannot find your video regarding the battle axe install? Can you share a link? Also for the WAM Front Bumper - I saw your review and am after the exact same for my jeep plus fog lights. Only issue I have is that WAM will not ship to the UK and so have been talking to BlueLakeOffRoad in the USA, who will. Trying to get everything to replicate yours. For the wheel arch fenders (think that's what to call them), did you cut these to shape yourself for the bumper to fit? Also can you show what armour protection you have directly under the bumper as I see some aftermarket bumpers expose the radiators underneath which would be awful if damaged. If you have an email address, I'd love for your input further.

    • @OJCoz
      @OJCoz  5 місяців тому +1

      @@KingsofSparta hey brother I would love to help. You just gave me an idea for my next short. I'll make a quick video short on how I installed the battle axe. I didn't make a video on that install, I just talked about it. Also for the front fenders, yes you will have to cut for this type of bumper... Which I was a little hesitant about but im glad I did because it gives me so much more approach angle. As far as under armor, the bumper goes back past the radiator and that's all I have. if you check out @extremedailydrivers, he put some aftermarket armor and it's not super expensive considering. Plus the fact that they make it for the Commander is amazing. my email is omarcoz@yahoo.com. ill put that short out by this Thursday 1/11!

    I have 2006 commander, and i had it lifted, with big tires. I took off the spare and mounted the tire rack. My question is, how do you disabled the spare warning display, and is there a way to program the wheels to your speed?

    • @OJCoz
      @OJCoz  10 місяців тому

      Hi Linda thanks for your post. I never had any issue with a spare tire warning or never even seen such a light pop up. So I can’t answer that :/. As far as the tires, I think there is probably three options. You can take it to a mechanic to get it regeared (cost $ and not nessessary) you can buy a scan gage from Amazon (cheap, easy to mount, does the job) or do what I do and subtract 5mph from what the speedometer says and that’s the speed I’m going :) haha

      @OverlandingJstCoz.
      Thank you for the information. My spare tire says low pressure; I just remove the tire but the warning light still come on but i can live with it because i live my commander, just put a new engine in it last year runs like a charm. I do need to get some new tpms sensor because after driving a few miles they are not registered.
      Thank you for your videos. I just ordered the water tank.

      Hi - Jim from Australia here. The company that makes these fuel tanks is Long Range Automotive.
      Unfortunately, it is only for the 3.0L Mercedes Benz Turbo Diesel engine - what is what the majority of Commanders we have in Australia. I’m fact I have one myself self. These tanks are auxiliary tanks of capacity of 110L or 29 US gallons if I have done my conversions right. It fits in what was the spare tyre well. You still keep the 78L or 20 US gallon main tank. Giving you a total capacity of 188L or 49 US gallons. With the kit you get two filler tubes and fuel is pumped from the auxiliary tank to the main tank. Thanks for your video. You have a awesome Jeep

      Thank you Jim! I’ve looked into it and your right, only for the diesel. That’s too bad. How does your Commander do on the Australian terrain? Thanks for watching sir!

      Thanks for your reply. I’m so glad I came across your channel. I have owned my Comnander CRD for about 3 years now. I bought it off an older couple who only drove around the city. So it was stock as. I have done a 2inch lift with Koni Heavy Track shocks, Dobinson springs and JBA upper control arms. Added recovery points from HK offroad and now embarking on the oinch weld mod to put bigger tyres - the biggest I can legally go is something with a 800mm diameter say a 265/70/17. Next up would be my dual battery system , long range fuel tank , wheel carriers , (thanks for letting us know about those WAM bars. I’ll have to get something like your rear bar to hold a spare tyre ,(and another one on the roof) All these are needed because over here it’s not uncommon to be 600-800 miles between fuel stops or more. Solar panels are needed to charge your battery systems , you must have satellite communications it could be weeks before you see anyone. I’ve already hit a big kangaroo and have to install a bull bar. I like the WAM you got but the type of bull bars we need over here are specifically to protect from animal strikes. (Google Boomers Bull bars Jeep Commander and you’ll see what I mean.) So much to do to set it up for safe and very remote touring. Australia is very much Toyota , Nissan country , it’s nice to throw my Commander amongst them. I had a XJ Cherokee which I did up before. Not many Commanders and parts and accessories are scarce. I’d like to thankyou for your efforts in doing up your truck , videos and sharing with the world , because it’s people like me some 15,000km away across the world who get some valuable ideas and advice. Take care and God bless.
