I also have a Crimson Bellied Conure. Great bird. I agree. Super chilled, but when it's playtime, you better watch out and be ready .....lol...very playful indeed. He doesn't want to accept my husband as part of the flock, only myself and my son, but we're patient and my husband is learning how to be more soft spoken around the bird...lol!
Great review on these adorable little featherheads. One thing you forgot to mention about crimson bellies is that they more nippy than green cheeks. They like to explore the world a lot with their beaks and always seem to need to imminently chew on something
Hi Jordan, thanks for posting -- so, I've had several Crimsons because we had a clutch- and I find that my GCC are far more nippy. So, this is based on my experience with several of each species.
Thanks for the response. That is interesting. I thought this was the case since the breeder who runs our local store actually told us this. I thought this was true about them because I’ve had one green cheek and one crimson bellied, and my crimson bellied conure is a comparative chew-a-holic!
Great vid! Though i love all your birdy vids :) Im hopefully getting a pair of baby crimsons towards the end of this year. The more even temperament won me over, as I’ve only had budgies and a cockatiel before.
I think I'm going to get a crimson belly! I have several lovebirds now, one which is hand tamed Wanted a blue crown but know a breeder for the crimson belly and your video sealed the deal! Thank you, awesome vid! could use the parrot tincture for my old lovebird who is a plucker..
You know, I think blue crowns are just gorgeous! However, we have crimsons because they are not nearly as loud. Also, the fact that they are smaller makes them a little easier to handle - not that they are that much smaller. And if you have lovebirds, I imagine that the crimson is more likely to be harmonious with them than a blue crown. Yes, you should get tinks oil on parrotbliss.com!
@@ParrotBliss HI! Me and my lovebird TomTom are watching your videos right now! My gf breeds crimson bellies and Im going to get on the list for a baby! If I could get a friend for tomtom to help with preening that would be a huge plus. I have a very old decrepit lovebird who loves tom-tom but they can't be put together cause Tiki is just too old and can't take any pecking or hierarchical behavior; and then I also have a pair of fishers who are not hand tamed and just had some non fertile eggs, so they are not a companion option. I have. been wanting a hand tamed peach face for a long time and finally got one in September, so thrilled! So, Tomtom my peach face is still young, but he's great. I also love seeing how you handle your birds cause I have to deal with tom-toms biting and beaking and do it correctly so I don't encourage his aggression. I love watching you handle your birds!
Are you training him to get used to the harness? why is he wearing it in the house? what is wrong with all his tail feathers? He is very cute,I just wonder if the harness is stressing him and he picks his feathers.(tail)
I have a 19 day old baby conure he / she is a hybrid of crimson bellied and pearly conure. is this a normal hybrid? and if you know anything about them. do you have any info about their health? :) I do not find anything about this myself. and thanks for the good informative videos :)
Thanks for the thanks on the videos! I don't know much about these hybrids- 19 days is pretty young. So you are hand-feeding? Do you have experience? Are you keeping the baby someplace warm? At less than 3 weeks, it wouldn't have feathers -- so you have to make sure to feed it every 2 or 3 hours from about sunrise to sunset and keep it warm so that it has the best chance to grow up healthy.
Our 5 yr old male crimson nips hard and draws blood, but our 8 yr old male greencheek does nip sometimes but more gentle. Both do come out of their cages but one at a time, as they like to nip each other. So we had to get them 2 cages. I just use a wooden dowel stick to take the crimson and once he is out he stops nipping, the greencheek is okay to step up without troubles. When we first got our crimson he was flighty and was afraid of hands. I don't think the breeder handraised him well. So be careful in choosing breeders that advertise for handraised birds.
Unfortunately, they is some truth to that (some breeders say they hand-raised…) Believe it or not, the parents can also make a difference. Some parents are nicer and some are more aggressive- and they can hand it down to their children. Wise breeders choose to carry the lines of nicer species so that they will keep the friendlier babies and sell the less friendly ones so that future babies are nicer.

Hi ! I'm considering adopting a parrot, and so far I am hesitating between a pionus or a crimson-bellied conure, both for their easy temperament and the fact that they seem to usually like to be pet... Which one would you suggest for appartment living ? Also, I do own a tamed java finch, do you know if it would get along with any of the two ?
I’m literally in the same boat. I’m thinking a pionus but they’re SO hard to find and expensive. Pionus are more independent and sensitive birds from what I researched. Poicephalus parrots are like pionus but a little more energy and affectionate from my research as well. I also love Quaker’s, conures seem more cuddly though and quiet.
@@Goodwishes67 I ended up adopting a crimson bellied conure, I came across one by chance at a bird refuge I happened to volonteer at! I've had her for four months now, at the beginning she was very skittish and bitey, but I think it's because she's been traumatised and mustn't have been handled very much by her previous owner But she's getting more cuddly, and she is quiet, but only when we're around her She throws tantrums when we leave her line of sight, and it's difficult to make her understand we can't always be around But hey, her personality is starting to show at least I'm still interested in pionuses, but I think I'd have to see one to understand how they really are like :)
@@celericasse4391 oh wow ! That’s beautiful that you got to rescue her! Congrats I’m sure with time she will open up and become more comfortable birds that are traumatized take longer to work with but once they trust you they are lifelong loving pets! Best of luck with her!

Feathers- he rubs them against the cage side and they get worn-
