Some of you are asking why I payed so much for my chinchillas. Where I live, chinchillas are not really a popular animal to own. I have looked for years and finding Louise on craigslist was a great deal so I had to buy her (I talked the owner down quite a bit)! And as for Susie, I did pay more for her because she is an extra dark ebony chinchilla. Around my area, you can only get standard grey's and I wanted a different color! Hope that clears up some confusion!
Hint for chinchillers: go to Home Depot and look for chipped marble or granite they’ll most likely give you it for free and use a wet saw to cut it into nice pieces(: free chinchiller
I have two chinchillas. You pretty much said everything right except you forgot the wheel. They like to run. Also there can be plastic but very hard plastic. You forgot to mention there extremely intelligent. My old chinchilla cage did not have a latch so my chinchilla found a way to open the door. So I upgraded to the cage you have.
I have 8 chinchillas. Cheap way to do it. Rescue an unwanted chinchilla all mine are rescues. Buy your cage used. They do not need toys they need just a block of wood or wood ledges. I make my own wood ledges from scrap wood. They don't need the chillers if you keep the room cool or live where it is cold. You could just get scrap tile. My 4 chillers were free they were left over tile a family member did not need. The cost of AC for people that live where it is warm will add up. One chin poops like 200 times a day. Dust, fur, and poop yeah they are messy. Nice video would have like to see more of your chinchillas in it.
God if your German Shepherd pooped as much as Chinchillas do you would be in real trouble. hahaha. Yes the more you have the more mess. At least Chinchillas are quite I will give them that. I say this as my 2 dogs are barking right now.

Hey, great video! I have owned a chinchilla for 7 years now. I know it’s not the best to have a single chinchilla but in my current circumstances I can not have another one. Would definitely recommend this video. Except I would use oxbow chinchilla food :)
My chinchilla cost 20 euros. He was like 2 months old tho. I searched up the cage size. And i got it over the size it has to be. I let him out of the cage everyday for 30 min to a hour. So he is living a very active lifestyle.
TIP. If you want cheaper food. Look on Craigslist farm and garden for small squares of hay. Farmers sell these for 2.00-6.00 a 40lbs bale. Pet stores rip you off.. Not even my horses get 20 dollar bales
Ik it's been like 3 years but in your cage, you covered wood slabs with fleece. I would think their urine would mold the wood if it was never washed so how do you wash it or keep it from rotting?
When she was talking about price I was so grateful I got mine with everything for free including new foods and a dust bath with two things of dust and a cage

My two chinchillas, I am beginning to wonder if I got some straight out of the wild chinchillas . While everyone else is picking up and playing with the chinchillas j can't get even touch them cuz I get bit..
it does take some chinchillas awhile to get comfortable with their owners! Susie has just recently started to come around more often and will finally let me pet her. However she still does not like being held! Patience is the key, remember that! :)
Hello! Sorry for not getting back sooner. I put potty pads under the fleece so it absorbs the pee and then once a week i clean the cage completely and wash the fleece liners in the washing machine and put fresh ones on!
I can buy chinchillas like for 10 even 7-8 bucks. They got a lot of chinchilla farms in my country and some people even sell the whole farms for like i think 10k - 100k bucks.
I have been caring for chinchillas for nearly 20 years myself. The current chin I have is around seven years old and spoiled. The oldest one that I had I had got him when he was about five years old and he lived a to be nearly nineteen years old and like the other guy I have now, spoiled.

For the prices of chinchillas, it depends on where you live. A breeder in my city sells chinchillas for about 70$US ( 80$ canadian) and in petshops they are expensive. And I recently found out that my mom was constantly looking for rescued chinchillas but haven't found any. Besides that, your video was very helpful, I will watch it again just to take notes :)

Try not to get food with treats mixed in it cause most chins just pick out the treats - my chinchilla, Chichi, used to do that so I switched up her food now whenever I shake her mixed treats bag she freaks out and gets so excited it’s so adorable

Yet some don't get along well , I had a chinchillas a while ago and my yorkie who loves hunting didn't get along with him until the point where the chinchillas had passed,so I'm if your yorkie likes hunting and stuff like that I wouldn't recommend it..
hamsters are not cheap love... hamsters are so expensive. the enclosure i made for my hamster is 200x70x80cm, i adopt hamsters and spend about 200-300 per year so idm
Chinchillas need a lot of care so if you have split time they probably aren’t the right pet for you. They poop a lot and need sweeping every day and love lots of love and attention all the time and need fresh water daily
Also, Do you have to have Chinchilla litter? I’m guessing you do. I’m getting a chin soon I’m doing a lot of research but I can’t find the exact answer?
Some people prefer to have litter in their cage instead of fleece. I personally like fleece and then I have 2 9x9 cake pans with litter in them so they can use those to pee in :)

Oh you should use Amazon! Much cheaper than any pet store! If you can't use Amazon then Idk what cheaper places there are.

Personally, my chinchillas love my chihuahua. They are three peas in a pod :) it just depends on the chinchilla!
