@easyautofix I drive a 2013 Elantra (Hyundai) with electronic throttle control (ECT), while accelerating under light loads (less than a quarter throttle), car revs/accelerates like it's between 1/4 & half on flat surface. What is the cause? How to fix?
Great video. My friend's car a 2009 Mercury Mariner goes into limp mode occasionally. Never heard of limp mode until this video.
great and valuable info. Thanks and keep up the good clearly presented video. It was very very helpful to me resolving my situation.
Exactly how my car is. Thank you for this video now i gotta fix the problem
Wow. Freaking wow. I mean I feel so stupid not doing a search on UA-cam. This happened to me while parked. Took vehicle to Toyota and they replaced the throttle body and $1100. Symptom happened again 2 weeks later while driving on the highway. No throttle response whatsoever. Toyota threw up their hands after 5 days of troubleshooting and just couldn’t figure it out. After listening to friend advice, took gas pedal out and took some resistance readings. Only read readings on two of the 6 pins while moving the pedal. And then ran across this video. Hahaha. Thank you. I’ll come back after replacing with an update. It’s Sunday and the parts dept is closed at Toyota.
same situation on a vw
You said you’ll come back and you didn’t
My bad. May bad. The problem came down to needing to replace the computer
Good video and explains the issue that matches what I had.
If I was having a great day I wouldn't be watching ur vid but it helped me tons! And saved me a shit ton of money my so called mechanic wanted. 100 an hour and 300 part. Compared to Auto Zine 30 bucks for part and 30 minutes to do
That was so helpful.. Thank you
Thank you for all your videos, I'm constantly following all your videos, you explain yourself to the max and your voice is pleasant to listen to, keep them coming please I've learned so much from you. 🙂
Very thoughtful, thank you!
Very insightful
It was very very helpful to me resolving my situation.
Thanks for the video
I just subscribed this is very educational
Thank. You. So. Much. For. Info.
You have a great way of breaking down the problem into simple terms, good content bruh! Sorta recent subscriber here! Keep it up
Very kind, thank you!
Hi, I'm having ford all new fiesta 2011 petrol... If I start my car means the rpm will automatically increase 2k accelerate pedal was not working in car dashboard it's shows engine malfunction service now... No one can solve my problem... I'm facing this issue last 6months... In OBD scanner it's shows throttle pedal error.... How to resolve the issue? Plzz anyone guide me
it could be your throttle position sensor(TPS) dont knock me on that i had problems with my rpms as well i changed my throttle position sensor(TPS) and i was fine after
Thanks man, this was so useful my car has been in Garage with all symptoms you describe, they changed the throttle body but not pedal sensor. now they have done both and runs like a dream
Awesome, thank you!
Great info
2017 GT350 Mustang issues just diagnosed! Chill presentation too, bro. Cheers.
Good deal, thank you!
I ll check it..I think you get the point thanks
Wow someone who truly explains everything. Your videos are Great🤟🏼
Explains yes, but its easy auto fix, the key word being fix.
Not exactly, I am having problems that weren't mentioned. Sticking
Good video - you get straight to the point without telling us what you're going to do four or five times before you begin. I place you alongside Project Farm and This Old Tony. And I like your voice - almost the Socal surfer voice, but not exactly. Good Work.
I love it when someone is telling me something that it's straight to the point
Hi man
Thanks for the video
my car has these symptoms. The issue is that a TPS has almost the same symptoms.
So could you tell me how I can be sure that the problem is with the accelerator pedal and not the TPS?
thank you all
Thanks mannnn!!!!!
Nice.. you gave me a good idea..
Thank you for the awesome video, the scenery is beautiful,,where is it ? i need to go there to take some pictures ,,,🙂👍
Top boy cheers x❤
Hope this is what the problem is. Kind of what I suspected but, the trouble codes kept throwing me off thinking it had something to do with the tps. Appreciate the video.
Did your car have a red lightning bolt on it? I curious because I had bought a new throttle body and the problem continued so I returned it and bought the pedal. While it still had the problem I left it like that for a day and the next day the car worked for like 2 days 😂
Rengoku... I'm having the same issue on my chrysler 200... throwing pcm codes and stuff as well. Keep me updated if the pedal replacement fixed it!
@@josephthibeau7356 well I had put a new one and also new throttle body and tried to have it relearned with a scanner. But I was told that the pcm might need to be reflashed or you can try to buy another one already programmed to your vin number… I’m trying to see if I can reset it by unplugging the battery for a few days
@@rengoku6450I have the same problem with 2009 Sedona did the pedal work after resetting PCM with battery unhooked ?
I’m currently dealing with this issue in a nissan versa where it won’t go over 10mph when pressing on the accelerator
Good video buddy, plain n too the point , no dumb ass heavy metal rock intro, I subscribed!
Thanks for the video. I suspect this is my problem. Acceleration is fine during normal driving. But sudden acceleration when trying to pass a vehicle sends my truck into limp mode. I've ruled out oil pump and sensor issues. So now I'm going in this direction. Thanks for the info.
EVER GET THIS SOLVED?
MY 05 TL IS DOING THE SAME.
HIGH RPM AND DOWNSHIFTING
Did you figure anything g out my saturn 05 seems to be in limp mode as it won't go into OD. And how do you know if it's limp mode or just nit shifting???? Please need some to help me with this. Thanks
Do you have to buy the peddle sensor and the Throttlebody to fix code P0122 or just the Throttlebody
A chance that this could be an issue for a 2010 Sierra that is throwing the message service stabilitrak service traction control and reduced engine power mode? I ordered a new throttle body new TPS sensor and new pedal sensor
Sir, I have a P2109 code in my 2017 toyota camry le, some mechanics on UA-cam has determine to replace thottle body. Completely, I think one of two things are happening is throttle body needs a deep cleansing or the pedal thottle postion sensor needs to be replaced. I would appreciate your help. Your auto repair videos are educational. Thank you, Larry
Larry, did you get help with this?
I need help please
Nice and clear chum thanks 👍
And thank you!
How do you tell the difference between a bad accellerator position sensor or a bad Electric Throttle Control Actuator?
Are the symptoms the same?
Does a 2000 Subura forester have a accelerator pedal sensor?
Have this problem we’re when I am at a stop light and when I press the accelerator in my cluster is shows “ traction active” and I hear a noise from the driver side I’ve already changed the wheel hub and speed sensor, any other suggestions thank you
So how to fix that if I already replaced throttle for new and gas pedal for new. And still gas response so slowly :(
Anyone know what amperages these accelerator assy's are designed for? Only ask as while things can wear out, but if an issue can/does cause them to malfunction, seems this can be about as likely. My feeling is that causation certainly can lead the pack, ref. electrical spiking, loss of ground, shorts, bad/faulty relay or the result of a bad or over sized fuse. Anyone ever replaced an accelerator assy, only to find they just fried another one? It'd be nice to use a list of values when checking out connector's pin slots to the harness, no? I'm concerned in that we can easily find numerous fuse box legends, all claiming to list supposedly correct fuse amperages, maybe that's what maybe fried my accelerator assy.
My 2014 Q60 hesitates, cleaned the MAF sensors, cleaned the throttle bodies, changed the spark plugs, coils, did the relearned idle etc.. and still the same, I even installed a PedalMax and it helps from initial acceleration but still feels hesitant. I don’t have any codes or check engine light. Other people are saying that the TPS might be bad but I don’t know, they’re kinda pricey and don’t wanna experiment on changing expensive parts for no reason.
My 2004 bmw 530i would have an issue where it would just go in limp mode and I would turn it off and on and it would go away and then after a while it turned on but it has never went away and I just don’t know what it is it says transmission fault and I just don’t think it’s that
I have a two thousand nine jeep grand cherokee laredo and could this be a problem for me for hard up start ups in the morning
Could this cause a no start?
Excellent
You are excellent, thank you
Ok, how do you fix it? Can you clean the sensor with out replacing it?
Hi, This is the closest I have got to my car problem. I have been to half a dozen mechanics and no one knew what it was. First, the warning light is amber, and says 'engine failsafe mode' then goes off. I worked out that after I have been on the motorway using cruise control, it doesn't come on. As soon as I turn off cruise control and use my foot, the light comes on every few seconds, with a slight decrease, if any, in performance. Is this what you have explained in this video? If so, I can tell the mechanic now. By the way, my car is a 2000-2001 jag s type. thanks for any help. great video.
similar issue for me. driving normally then after on the motorway, driving at 2000 revs my car laggs when I press the accelerator. then gets worse and worse to where I cant get into second or third gear because the lag time of pressing the pedal to acceleration is too great. mechanic does not know whats happening. i noticed too that using cruise control it drives fine.have you had a solution yet?
Does this apply on diesel engines also?
If it’s a pedal issue will the throttle stop working sometimes and sometimes works or will it just completely die out one time ? My q50 sometimes drives fine and other times the pedal just stops working
My car randomly revs itself into high revs and i have to press the pedal to stop it. Only does it in neutral and has done it twice in the past week. Could this be the issue?
What about on a 2000 wv
Is it easy to do on my own
I have a 2002 Toyota Camry which starts with no problem but there’s no response when pedal is depressed. Car does not move at all. According to diagnostic results it was supposedly the coils. They were replaced but still no improvement( throttle body was also changed and still no improvement. Should I try replacing the pedal sensor?
This guy sounds like he smokes a lot of weed before recording the videos. Fantastic videos, by the way haha
Is this common on infinity g37 ?
Could an intermittent fault result in bucking?
What about if sometimes it doesn't wanna go and then sometimes itll go from a stop and then
Seen this code many times on all 3 vehicles
I have a 2012 Chevy impala LTZ when I pull off if I press down too hard on the pedal, my car jerk then the check engine light come on and the RPMs stopped working completely. Is it possible it’s a bad acceleration pedal ? Also, let me mention the pedal has been replaced before Also when I pull over and cut the car off and wait a couple minutes and restart the RPMs start working again and once I was done driving for the day the check engine light eventually goes back off I would appreciate any help. Thank you.
Same here
Can this be caused by snow build up?
Hey I have a question so how do I tell if the sensor is bad
Mine does exactly that new pedal but hasn’t died the issue. Cleared the codes. Now I’m just wondering is there another sensor on the throttle body side that also might give out same symptoms!
Sake here. Got a new pedal and it worked fine for about 3 months them it started happening again. Trying to figure this out
Oh no!
How is now?
What about a hard to push pedal with a drive by wire accelerator pedal??
Cable
@@MegaGTAGAMEPLAY Yeah but it was reliable how many cables do you know that have snapped?
Good
Thank you!
Hi
My mercedes W219 cls 2010
Face serious issue in acceleration and sometimes press padal get weak response and the rpm reached only 4000 even when car without move
I hade many codes
1. Intake gates manifold i replaced it
2. Spark plugs replaced
3. Injectors replaced
The car still
Not gid in gear shifts and i think the pedal issue as you mentioned
My truck gets these symptoms after driving it for about 10-30 mins. Do you think is my acceleration sensor? Or tps sensor?
How do I get a saturn ion 2005 out of limp mode?,?
Experiencing an unusual problem with my Qaishqai J10 2010. When shifting gears, the car accelerates an additional 300-500RPM before settling back down. I have to wait for the deceleration to shift gears, it's becoming quite frustrating. I'm curious if this sensor might be causing these symptoms. Any idea please?
I have prob in my mk4 golf but idk number original code of pozition senssor ? Bcz Mechanichs not Help me
Can this damage the throttle body ?
Hi. I've got a 2003 Montero Limited 3.8L. Twice so far (1,000 miles apart) mine has gone into a condition where it will not accelerate. It idles and starts fine, but will not go over 40mph on level road, and takes a long time to get to that speed (severel minutes). It will be fine one moment and then begin this malfunction in the middle of driving it, in town or on interstate. I do have a TPS sensor code (P2135) but also cam and crankshaft sensors codes. The timing system is fine and it doesn't jerk or do anything strange except refuse to accelerate. I can turn it off and after 20 minutes it will operate fine again. Is the the TPS sensor getting hot and then it fails?
Did you ever fix it I'm having the same issue 2009 Sedona?
@thomashumphrey1024 haven't figured it out. Hasn't come back.
Joined the queue in waiting.
if yr accelerator on a 2004 malibu is not working , wats could be the problem
can this cause unintended acceleration no lights on my 2008ford f250 when I come to a stop light the truck wants rev up and go with out my foot on the gas pedal scary
I have no light on dashboard but i Have isue with my acelerator i press on and nthg happen is the fault of acc or Throtle body ??
am i correct in assuming that if you rev the engine while in park and it behaves normally that the position sensor is likely just fine?
Yes
Have a 2.5 fusion, no cel on but cars been acting off. Hard start, idle kinda high and sporadic, kinda putts on acceleration especially on incline, rpms drop low when coming to stop. Hooked up code reader live data is reading oxygen sensor current b1s1 is red (bad), evap system vapor pressure (red), intake air temp (red), and absolute throttle position and throttle position b (red). Has the number readout but I don't understand everything. Have any idea what's going on? Vacuum leak? Bad 02?
Not rly sure but sometimes idling issues are in connection with throttle body. So if you are to clean that and also your mass airflow sensor and then do an idle relearn it might help. Give it a shot?
Also check your engine coils as well
Did you ever figure it out?
Could be the (turbo) boost pressure control solenoid.
@@CriCKiD3 already cleaned maf sensor. Kinda cleaned out throttle body while still on but unhooked from hose. Wasn't much at all built up on it, opened n closed fine. Not sure about idle relearn but did unhook battery n clip together to drain the electronics for a whole system relearn. Didn't change anything.
@@badactor3440 I'm not sure what that is lol. I've been learning as I go from vids like this. I'll check it out though.
I'll actually check coils out as Im just over 100k. Think they only last about that long if not mistaken.
I have pretty much all of these symptoms, would anyone know why my engine light will go off after about 1 hour of driving ? Turns on 1st thing but after a while of driving it turns off and the car runs as normal until the next day
I'm having the exact same problem
Isnt a cable and wire the same?
I have a 2014 Honda Accord sport and I step on it but it make a sluggish sound and start moving seconds later but roughly from 0-20 and speeds up fast past 30 😅
I have the symptoms where there is no response when hitting the pedel while driving no check engine light im gonna try repalceing the pedal first to see what happens because throttle bodys are expensive
My Nissan Sentra has an issue with it's pedal assembly, it gives no response at all. What's weird is I'll delete my code then it works perfectly fine. How can it work, but also not work? If there's a real issue with the pedal assembly, why is it able to function properly until the ecm decides it's an issue, then it goes straight to symptom #5 after being perfectly operable. Designed obsolescence at its finest. There was absolutely nothing wrong with Drive by Cable, one failed on me and a shoe string got me home. I guess manufacturers want to back "pedal". I'll see myself out huehuehue
My Buick Lasabre did the opposite, unintentional acceleration full throttle near death experience
My check engine light never came on but I have to replace one now
What happens if my car is at step 5 wat should I do?
Can u get surging problems while driving
Turbo boost pressure control solenoid
What is the reason why the gas pedal has no responding?
I have the same problem is it possible it's the pedal sensor but with no code or check engine light on.
Did you find the problem with your car , mine is doing the same thing.
@jackie robertson although I felt something was wrong I never had any codes come on so it was Difficult to really diagnose the problem so I clean out the throttle body to start and it was dirty and I also installed a pedal commander it's cost about 300 and boy it makes a difference but I didn't changed out the original gas pedal after all .
@@RG-od4jk Thank you .
My pedal sensor has been replaced 7 times at $698 each time they replace it. Kia told me my 2008 kia Sorento is thier worst vehicle & told me to give it to the dump yard, 😢which is not a option I car for my special needs child & buying a new one is not any where your n the plans, love to but can't. I've sunk $8690.00 & it keeps braking. After they put a new foot pedal sensor & everything in that area it brakes before leaving the kia hospitals parking lot. Why is this & what's your opinions? Any info will appreciated. Thank you for your time.
Bro, at 8,000 dollars you could have gotten a new car already
I hope some one can help me out please.I have a 2006 Toyota Camry v6 3.0 and I am having problems with the acceleration of the car only in the afternoon when I coming home from work and it is been on the sun all day.I never have problems in the morning or at nights or when the sun is not out and the car is not hot.The problem started 6 months ago and some one told me to clean or replace the mass air flow sensor.I cleaned it and it worked, the car stopped doing that in the afternoon, now. It started doing the same thing and I replaced the mass air flow sensor and it is doing the same just in te afternoon when the car is been on the sun for 5 or 6 hours,I don’t know what might be,I need help because it is driving me crazy🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Did you ever fix it having the same issue Kia Sedona 2009 ?
Results please
How did you get Randall from Clerks to narrate this? 😁
I have simmilar symptom on my C4 Picasso I from2007.
When I slowly push the throttle pedal, on 1750 rpm approx, car start to slowing than accelerate, alowing than acceleratte, like shaking. Everything is back to normal if I slightly decrease or increase throttle. Only on that specific position I always have the same issue. Maybe it is not the probblem in thrrotle pedal, maybe problem is in intake flaps. I do not know, but I will investigate that when the warmer days come.
Is this code p0226?
my 2017 malibu tripping. i press on gas pedal and i reacts 3-5 seconds later will replace it hopefully thats the issue
Can the accelerator pedal position sensor be faulty and not have Check engine light come on?
Yes
Yes I just had mine go out and I unplugged it and my truck will go into od but I have no throttle response
My Ford Fiesta has this problem, got a new pedal for tomorrow. Been driving it like this for at least a year without any light pop up. I knew something was wrong, thought it might have been HT leads or coil pack, but that didn’t fix it. I did eventually get a light come up on the dashboard, got it scanned and found out what it was. But if that light hadn’t popped up when it did, I’d still have no idea what was causing my issues, because I’m guessing without a light pop up it might not have thrown up a code. So yeah unless it’s seriously shot, it might not throw up any lights.
@@sebbosworth-davies2079 were your issues shaky acceleration? Same issue now and it's very on and off, obd scanned pointed me to this
@@Truesk8er1 Yes mate, would usually happen when I’d slow down to 30 or something and then tried to accelerate, it would just hesitate. It usually does this because the sensor on the pedal gets worn out. My Fiesta has had a new throttle pedal, and also a throttle body too because the spring had gone in it. Drives mint now.
Mine only does this when I try to put my foot down at higher speeds. It hesitates and then jerks a bit, then it becomes increasingly worse until it goes into limp mode.
How do you know it's in limp? And how do you get it out of limp????
@@MikeSmith-cn6ub
Limp mode is when the car goes into safety mode. An alert sounds, warning lights come on, the info screen states service needed.
It's impossible to not notice.
Getting out of limp mode could require a mechanical fix, servicing ect. Mine became normal again after shutting off the engine and restarting.
I've cleaned the maf sensor since this comment and it's running fine now.
2018 Toyota Prius Prime Plus
105k+ miles
No engine light and went to 3 location (the Toyota dealership, AutoZone, and my mechanic) to check OBD and no issues comes up.
I'm currently having issue with the acceleration. Every time when I step on the gas pedal it accelerate slower than before. I took it to the dealership and let them test drive it and they said it's fine cause I have it on ECO mode but this car is my daily so I know how it runs.
I usually change my oil and filter and due to the issue I changed my transmission fluid, spark plugs, air filter, and cabin filter and still have the problem. So, I found out my car have a fuel filter BUT the dealership told me that I need to buy the combo (fuel filter and fuel pump together).
So, if anyone can help or knows please 1. Should I replace my fuel filter 2. Or replace gas pedal 3 both or it might be something else?
I don't know but I do know throwing money at it won't fix it unless you just get lucky. In other words change enough things you might get lucky and accidentally fix it but this way is expensive. TRUTH FACTS
I have a 2008 Saturn aura xr thats been in limp mode for over a month and after spending over $500.. I've replaced the throttle body, tune up, MAF sensor, exhaust solenoid and battery and it's still in limp mode. My car stalls out at anytime it wants to. Can you please help me I have 3 little girls and it's not safe to drive
What are the codes that pop up when you scan the vehicle?
Is the acceleration pedal sensor the same as throttle position sensor?
No. The pedal is the pedal.the throttle position sensor tps goes into the throttle body
