As a baker I can tell you the reason why the loaf doesn't have the crispier outside is due to the lack of steam within the air fryer. Typically when you bake bread at home you should add water into the oven so that the bread can be steamed to help give it that glossy crispy shell

We've had our airfryer several years now. Stuff from the freezer, frozen baquettes, sweet buns etc. fast and good. Anything battered, crispy surface, still moist inside. Sis got some mini baking tins etc. So one person frittatas, casseroles, oven style omelettes & mug cake recipes. Besides fries, potato wedges. Anything that an oven can do, airfryer can do, but way faster.

Use an instant read thermometer to determine if your bread is done. If the top is getting to brown, flip it over and let it brown on the bottom. Add a little water in the bottom of the fryer about half way through baking, just a tablespoon, or so for a denser crust.

My sister mentioned the other week that she made a cheese toastie in their air fryer so I tried it in ours and it works great and doesn't have the issue of the cheese being as hot a lava so you can ear it right away.
After seeing this I might try making the bread in it too at some point and then make a toastie using that bread.

I have an air fryer. 6.7 litre capacity. I love it. I have done fries, bacon, chicken pieces, whole chicken, ribs, frozen biscuits, and more. Success every time! Tip - if you use precut parchment paper, make sure you only put it in when the food item goes in. Do not put it in during preheating, because of the fan it will move around and burn up.

Energy use is way lower than firing up the stove oven and the bread comes out just fine, top and bottom. I still check the internal temperature for about 195F (90C) for doneness. Thanks for showing your experiment.

I started having to use varifocals 2 years ago and weirdly, literally got home 30mins ago from picking up new pair. It is cheaper to run though. 😊

I used to make bread rolls in my air fryer when I wanted to have just a few rolls to eat for myself. It works perfectly and takes a lot less time because there's no pre-heating involved. Though I think only softer breads can be baked there because the stiffer and drier breads will just dry out because of the way how it is cooked in general.

I was making bread rolls for the holidays and after waiting for my oven to heat, it died. I tried using the air fryer and I was blown away lol.
Over they years of trying air fryers out, It's tough baking unless you know good conversion for temp and time. Aside from that is what went wrong on your 2nd attempt, Ratio of size.
Right now I am only using an air fryer / toaster oven style which are nice. A lot closer to normal toaster oven operations, but having to flip the food half way, just to get good color. Which brings to my last piece of knowledge I've found making cinnamon rolls. Certain foods now have air fryer instructions, which is priceless for the most part. Pillsbury rolls say to flip the rolls half way through cooking, so its even cooking and browning.
Also check out Pro Home Cooks, he does so much with air fryers.

I've used it often for cooking those part baked bread rolls and baguettes from the supermarket (I do 155C for about 6 minutes, no preheating needed). A great way to have freshly baked bread quickly and with a lot less electricity needed compared to the same thing in the regular oven.
Roasted veg is good in the air fryer, breakfast foods too (hash browns, sausages, fried slice, also veggie bacon - not sure if proper bacon works as I'm vegetarian). Maybe try doing a full English in the air fryer and microwave?

One of my favorite things to make in an air fryer is ravioli. Usually I do this when there are leftovers after cooking ravioli for dinner. Non-sauced, boiled ravioli. Make a mixture of olive oil, decent amount of salt, and whatever dry spices you like (usually I pick paprika, onion powder and garlic powder). The amount depends on how much ravioli you're using, but make enough of the oil and spice mix to coat them all completely. Fry them in batches so that they sit in your air fryer basket in a single layer. 380F (193C), or whatever the closest temperature setting on your air fryer is, for 15 minutes. Make sure to flip them after 7 or 8 minutes before letting them finish. Makes an excellent snack.

Hey Barry, welcome back, missed the shenanigans, if your eyes don't adjust after 2-3 weeks of wearing your glasses as your ophthalmologist recommended, go back to the optician and explain the problem. I've been lucky with my astigmatism adjustments that the warp with glasses is minimal. My sister-in-law walked around with migraines and dizziness for nearly three months because her optician forgot to put in an astigmatism adjustment in her first pair and, in her words, any movement was like being drunk.
If they're properly adjusted, the worst you should get is like, seeing a curve in a large ikea wardrobe that your spirit level and perfectly sighted spouse can't detect. Or maybe the optician is wrong and my bedroom is haunted by the world's laziest ghost.

Despite the common knowledge, I've come to the realization that the primary use of an air fryer is not chips. Curiously, I use the air fryer almost everyday and chips is something I rarely do in there.
    Hear me out: Fried Chicken.
The best fried chicken wings I've ever eaten were done in the air fryer.

As far as the glasses are concerned, I was told at a young age I needed them. But, the whole "specky four eyes" thing in the playground got to me and from then I tended to avoid them. Now, in my late middles they are pretty much on the face from first to last. Without them the world is out of focus and all blurry. Some would say that's a gift, but not when you're looking for something.
I was given a Tower air fryer for Christmas. Just a little one, ideal for a couple or single person. I still haven't used it since reading an article and watching a video of one on fire. The woman said it was perfectly clean and was just cooking some bacon at the time. I get tempted to use it every now and then. This recipe might be my first attempt...If I can get the courage up and running. 😄

Idea for cheap Vs steep. Bread. Its simple and needed in so many things. And few things are better than fresh bread

Fun fact: air fryers are not actually fryers because they, well, use air, they are more like mini convection ovens.......never mind, he mentioned that.
Your puns are great, so glad I subscribed to this channel.

I make bread in my bucket air fryer. The secret is to cook it for 15 minutes then turn it over and cook for another 15. You also need to cover it for the first 15, to capture steam. The crust is amazing if you do that. And I do full sized loaves, not mini loaves. You just need to use make them flatter .. and you need to remove the rack to give more headroom.

I use my air fryer for a lot of different things not just fries or tater tots; little mini Red Barron pizzas; rolls and my own style of English muffins; batter fried fish; corn dogs I bought a Simply Big unit a couple of years ago and use it quite a bit! My unit had a pan set that I also bought including popcorn maker!

Barry i got an airfryer for Christmas, so your comment made me laugh haha
But i was skeptical of them, but not only do they make things crispier than an oven. But the big win for me was, with my oven i have to preheat it for 15 minutes or so, then say if i am cooking some chicken and chips, it's in there for 25 minutes. Without any preheating i can just whack something in my air fryer, done in 18 minutes! Sone cons are the noise, also, i am finding it hard to time things that say, if i wanna cook chips in the air fryer but steak on a pan. I also need to try more exciting recipes! Saved a bunch, just gotta do them, so far my most exciting meal was a sorta Mediterranean styled chicken with potatoes and veg!

Hi Barry, interesting video, we bought an Airfryer Oven to try and use less energy. We'd previously had the 'bucket type' and had cooked loads of different recipes in it with varying results, but overall they were more than acceptable. The new 'toy' is excellent, has around 21 different settings, we've cooked roasts, cakes, biscuits and bread already, all have been really good. I'm definitely a convert. A word of advice if I may, I wouldn't use the one-cal type sprays in an airfryer, they can definitely damage the non-stick lining. Cheers!

My Mum taught me to make bread at the age of 10, now I'm 65 and I've never thought of making bread in my airfryer. I've used my Instant Pot to proof the dough which works wonderfully. I will try to airfry it next time I make bread. I hope Chloe feels better soon and your eyeballs change to a baseball shape.

I have had air fryers for about 3 years. I have one with the basket and the other is like a small convection oven that air fries, bakes & dehydrates. I only use the oven on my stove in cold weather. I use my air fryers every day.

I use my air fryer for salmon/fish filets and roasted veggies and twice cooked baked potatoes. Plus it makes 1/2 batches of brownies in just a few minutes. I do make fries and tator tots on occasion. I will try tube cinnamon rolls over the weekend to see how they do.
