Of 1.3 billion people in India, how many speak English well enough to be interviewed in English? These were the more educated. Of course they would be more likely to be aware. What about the uneducated masses?

Sports Guy, I know that English is an official language of India and the lingua franca of the nation. But the level of vocabulary, proper grammar, and enunciation will separate the more educated from those with only a grammar school experience. The ability to speak proper English is not equal among the Indian youth. I dare you to compare your IQ score to mine and we will determine who is actually the idiot.

It's obviously due to overpopulation and it being in a very urban area. If anything, India needs to focus more on regular pollution more so than their noise pollution.
Driving culture is "very" different, n honking is not considered as offensive, it is considered as acknowledgement to other driver. N for more reasons, honking, is really common ESPECIALLY in such busy road of a busy city.
Just my perspective, but if a country wants to be seen as developed and educated, a (working) trash management system is one of the first steps. India and it's people should be working on this and their mentality towards the subject.

Never been to India but the most effective way to make the street cleaner is to make it easy for the people to keep it clean. More trashcans. If they know that they only have to walk a minutes with their trash then they are more likely to do it.
MrSanktjakob True .. but aside public waste management, I will also add civil manners learnt and perpetuated by a population. Tokyo (~35 million people), for example, is among the cleanest mega-cities on earth and has close to no trashcans on the streets
India is a country where people clean their house twice a day but throw all that trash wherever they feel like. I recommend people to watch a documentary on Ambikapur's waste management by RSTV.
lol it looks like you've never been into china or watched news 10 years ago. Air pollution is still an issue and the government is still working on it (it has also improved in the latest years too), but china is now very clean for the ground. Ask any foreigner that has visited or in china or go to china yourself you will find out the answer
good luck india. with the growth of educated population and their votes hopefully the government becomes strong enough to really change the country for the better
Rico well, I’m not an Indian at all. But, don’t associate it with any political issues because it’s all about the our awareness that how important the cleaning is!
No doubt that India is a beautiful country outside the urban areas. The smaller Himalayan towns are cleaner in comparison. I’ve travelled to over 15 countries including countries in Asia and so far, India is the dirtiest country I’ve been to, especially Indian cities. It’s a shame because Indian people are in general very kind, smart and friendly.
+A Person - Hmm. But, if that's true... why haven't the government acted yet? Surely, this must have been going on for quite some time now... probably at least 20 years or more, of a growing problem, why hasn't it been fixed as of yet?
Ikr that's the problem we face here. I sometimes feel like to kick these people's asses.Even when we go for vacations on hilly areas, people start showing their dumbness by littering there also. I just want India to be a clean place where people can say:"Wow! This place is breathtaking."
Ver sace if you want to see a cleaner india go to Northeast India. It is even more cleaner than Europe. You would not find any kind of trash on the road. And if wanna see devloped india go to mumbai, pune,Delhi, kolkata, chennai etc..
Ya it does, there are studies done by international institutions who found out that ganga has unique ability to stay clean as soon as it moves out a city
It's really a huge issue in India. Bangalore was considered a garden city but now it's called garbage city ! Both the locals and government are showing indifference although a small percentage of the citizens are trying to bring awareness. Hope India wakes up as soon as possible.
That is because, INDIA is a hugely populated country and however wide the roads are they are not wide enough for the vehicles so, if there were no HORNS then ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS number increases.
Himesh Thungaturthi In Spain is against the law to honk when you drive if it is not for an emergency or to avoid an accident, it seems like in India is part of the driving itself, anyone who would drive like that here would get fined, and there are big cities here too with a lot of traffic jams because of the massive population of cars on the road and you don't see this constant honking happening
I don't get the relation with population and honking, China must have a similar area:pupulation ratio and they are banning honking there, they even use acoustic detectors, I just wonder why can't there be driving laws that substitute the honking, that's why I ask for a video so indians can explain it themselves
@@hediyehb9082 yea. Sure. It's not that big of an issue to get so worked up as much as those guys did. Dan just asked a simple question. But it's just what it is. It made an impact for a year, but isn't continued, private organisations are helping the cities waste management more than of the government organisations
Western slaves always see the UA-cam videos and make their opinion on a place that they haven't even been to or seen it improve over the years. Varanasi is best example of 'Swach Bharat' Success! Hats off to Modi to make cleanliness a national issue when previous govts were too busing in corruption, they even failed to check PNB scam and mallya scam which was exposed under Modi Administration.
I'm from the Philippines and we also have the same issue but its not too bad here it's just okay and sometimes it's really clean especially in manila. I hope india will get through it. I love india!
I believe the main problem in India is the lack of proper allocation of resources as well as the mindset of the people in India. In India, trash bins are actually not very accessible and many aren't there. Secondly, most people in India have improper and incorrect knowledge about cleanliness and consequences of their actions. So a solution to this would be more proper allocation of resources as well as educating people but they are many external factors to this problem so I'd say India has a long way to go but it's good that the citizens at least have started their journey towards the common goal of making India a cleaner country
What do you think about the salaries of sweepers and cleaners ? Have you come across any manifesto of state party with regards to cleanliness ? Why does the central gov need to start a cleanliness program and not the state government ?
I love India and its rich culture, it's definitely my favourite country and I can't wait to go back, but I must admit that the rubbish puts off many people from traveling there which is a shame. In my opinion everyone should take responsibility and start from themselves. Obviously it's more difficult with such a large population, but still it's possible step by step. ✌️ Much love from Lithuanian girl 🙏💚🇮🇳

I know you posted this a while ago, but Im from Kolkata, West Bengal and our streets especially the area I live in has become so much cleaner, actual distinguished rubbish dumping sites and everything its really great to see. But I still find it hard to find bins around the place.
@@milonydausier4179 here in India there is special sitution ,everyone speaks about a problem big mouth-ed ; we should do this, do that and whatever but when it comes to the core , nobody cares. For example, if you go to collect fund for this particular issue same people who speak as above are the first ones to NOT donate.
It's not really an issue of India, but companies. Decades ago they started using plastic bags and bottles to maximize their profits, and when the garbage became an issue, they coined the term "litterbug" to pass the blame onto the consumers. Granted, there should be individual responsibility, e.g. not just blatantly throwing trash out the window, but someone who chooses to spend an hour a day picking up others' trash for years can have all their efforts undermined in a minute by a single company creating waste.
Wow. Sometimes i found this type of comment. I like it. But companies are companies. They are made for profits. There is one company TATA which we are proud of. They created awarness in the area where they installed their unit before using plastics. Others don't.
We have a company here in the States that picks up trash and disposes of it. They build walls 90ft deep and cover it eventually with Earth not before routing tubes that carry the gas that they use. They make alot of money too. So I would say it IS an issue of India. To be more specific it IS a human issue. No matter race or location. Littering is irresponsible behavior that should be frowned upon. If there is no where to put it and no one gives "two shits" about it. I would not put the blame on companies.
Congratulations - that's exactly the attitude companies want you to have. Instead of confronting the fact they flooded the market with single-use plastic, you pass the blame onto consumers. Granted, we do have a responsibility to recycle, but rather than looking into biodegradable options like bioplastic or recycled paper, companies choose to destroy the environment to save a few bucks. There isn't enough of an recycling infrastructure to handle all the plastic in the world right now.
On the contrary, it's the worst type for that very reason - people think it's just paper-thin, meaning they don't care if they see one one on the side of the road. It breaks down more easily, entering the food chain in the ocean earlier, and making it harder to collect.
There's nothing wrong with putting some of the onus on individuals, but again, without the business model of single-use waste, most of that garbage wouldn't exist.
I´m always amazed at how most people from India that you interview know how to speak English. And also, thank you so much for these videos, I´m glad to learn more about countries around all Asia.
Why amazed? India is a former British colony and Indians think English is a magical language and if they speak English than India will have good roads, good quality of life and will become developed haha
The more i watch india content from asian boss, the more i admire the young generation there. Seems like there's a shitload of awesome and intelligent ppl, i have great hope for indias future.
India actually is a beautiful country with many great historical places and events. Some places there may be dirty, but there also are some places very clean and well-organized. If you knew where to go in India, you wouldn't have to worry about food and environmental hygiene issues. India is a great Asian country with rich cultures; absolutely amazing and worth a visit.😀✈🛏🛋🌕
yeah, our country's government is probably one of the worst in the entire world...it doesnt know how to take care of our pilgrimage centres and public centres...
true, some tourists attractions there are super beautiful and amazing. I think environmental pollution exists everywhere but increases proportionally according to population.
Well if you all are thinking the whole of India is full of trash and dirty, then let me give you the example of Mawlynnong, the cleanest village in Asia, situated in Shillong, the Northeastern Part of India. It simply depends on the city you are living in. Not every city or town is dirty but I do agree most of the parts are not aware of any cleaning ideas.
Emil V.Joseph Delhi is full trash. I never disagreed. Thing is, I repeat it depends on the city and consciousness of the people. You can't judge the whole country based on a single city.
Emil V.Joseph And the rest of India is not all cities my friend..There are thousands of villages and you won't find trash on these village streets ..most Indian villages are clean..The big problem is cities.
Dude you cant be seriosu man. You say an INDIAN city is the cleanest in whole ASIA??? How can even the cleanest city of India be under the top 1000 of whole Asia, IMPOSSIBLE Indian people have a wrong mindset. You just dont care at all. Take the Japanese people for example. They clean the stadium after a game, not their own trash also the trash from the other teams fans. India will never get into the first world, because you have no mindset for cleaning and taking care of each other. Everybody is an individual. No body cares. And the next problem you guys have is having no birth control.
you can hear that the people want change. i hope the Millenials can make a difference in the environment in India. Please make the country beautiful again.
Im realy impressed... these people are very well spoken and very intelligent. They do interviews better than you average american Im willing to bet. Too bad about the state of their country tho
Its not about whose more intelligent. But how as a human to solves the problems about garbage and cleanness,so that country and world be a better place. If someone is intelligent and another one is not,the intelligent one cannot be arrogant .Always be kind and down to earth.Human were same,in the end we return to God.God do not look to your intelligent, beauty but your piety/kind heart. Its ok to proud to country or anything, its yours. But do not say others were not good. Its doesn't take much time to be humble and respect to each other differences.
This issue has nothing to do with America, we don't have this problem in our country. Why are you trying to make everything into a competition between countries?
Nepal is in on the same boat. Having been there 3 years ago I have witnessed the horrific amounts of trash littering the streets. I think the main factor contributing to trash/pollution is the lack of education. Additionally, the government doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. I did not see a single trashcan throughout the country for trash to be disposed of. Even if locals did have trash cans where would they take this trash? The government needs to step up and organize a better sanitation system.
I live in well-to-do rural area of southern Ontario in Canada, about a 2-hour drive northwest of Toronto right next to a well-kept hiking trail called The Bruce Trail. It’s full of rolling hills and horse ranches. It’s basically my back yard. A complete escape from city life where you don’t even feel like you’re in Toronto. One day I came across a group of young Indians enjoying the scenery along the trail. They were super friendly. The most memorable part of my interaction with them was immense amount of litter they left along the trail and next to their car. Complete disregard for others and the environment. They treated my backyard as though they were still in India.
In Indian culture, they value keeping their own property clean, but not someone else's property. So the solution is for the government to put all the trash on the streets into the houses of the Indian people, then they will clean it up themselves :)
Educate and enlighten the people to self-regulate their country like Japan and S.Korea~ They were far more devastated in everything earlier right after WWII and Korean War, but education has made the people conscious and morally high stated. So they started self-regulate the things and made their society civilized. It is all matter of the degree of civilization. India has a great potential to surpass those countries.
mahalo aloha That was possible because SOUTH KOREA or JAPAN are even smaller than some of the STATES in INDIA and the POPULATION is 100x more than in those countries, so yes we are trying and most of the cities are getting there with increasing education and literacy.
@@diamoamy In Japan, children are made to sweep the classroom floors and mop the bathrooms themselves. The lunch is made at school and children are assigned the responsibility to serve the food to other children and they all eat together in the classroom. You inculcate habits when it comes to sanitation and hygiene in your surroundings, while eating etc. and you're bound to develop a change in mindset of the people.
You cannot judge a whole nation so easily lol.... Most of the younger generation is trying to change and are tying to inculcate cleanliness and even the govt is trying to implement many policies. CULTURE has got nothing to do with his lmao, its not like our culture tells us to throw garbage everywhere.... Most of the cities with educated urban population and residential areas are clean.
Wait...South Korea? I am sure Japan is clean and organized. But in South Korea, the street is so dirty like slum area. People spit everywhere. When I visit Japan, I feel so shameful.
The issue is every Indian knows the problem and it's solution except the government.🙁 Anyways Enough of fighting and criticizing. Every Indian watching this video(infact everyone) , let's take a pledge to never litter on the roads and never allow anyone in front of us to do so. ✌️
@JKay11235 I reckon I'm also saying the same thing instead . And yeah for sure we have to take steps instead of waiting for the government . Surely Gonna make a group and raise funds for trash cans and other things to make our area clean .
step 1. increase bolted down public trashbins step 2. increase budget for trash pickup and removal. step 3. increase recycling depots and add recycling bins to apartment buildings and offer recycling bins to individual home owners at a low cost. then increase the budget for recycling pickup and removal. step 4. train the population to stop littering, spitting, etc.... in a respectful manner government and public must work together on this issue, beyond these steps, natural human ingenuity will take over and improvement will just happen. Perhaps individuals should consider slowing down on the baby making as well, as overpopulation comes with many many problems. That is for each individual to decide though, not government or people on youtube commenting like me. Good luck India!!!
Why are there so many people?..Haven't they heard of birth control? Why bring more people into the world to live in such dirty and unhygienic conditions?
Actually that's a horrible idea, cause 1 child policy will lead to a demographic catastrophe and not only that, but one of the two sexes will be much more than the other. Mao did this in China and now they are suffering. One child policy is very unhealthy and dangerous. Probably if India remained a British colony to this day this problem would never existed.
I'm Indian, and why we keep complaining our government for not cleaning ? First of all why we make places dirty like this ? It's our responsibility to make our places clean government can't clean the whole country, India is so big. First of all we need a strict law across the country that no one can throw any trash on the road etc.. But I'm pretty sure India will overcome with these problems the more it will get developed economically
Cleanliness in India seems hard to find.. they need to be educated about Cleanliness and Orderliness and of course Hygiene and stop those belief that not necessary in this Modern times..
7 years ago I visited Agra...even there 1 kilometer from the Taj Mahal on the only road to it on both sides of the road where 1.5 m high piles of trash with cows, dogs, rats etc....the Driver was like well it can go up to 2.5 m so its now good...WTF
There's a mistake in the subtitles at 03:44. He says "They only think about cleanliness in their own place", but the subtitles say "The only thing about cleanliness is that they don't clean."
It’s basic sanitation not corruption lol. In Australia we have clean up duties in school. Sanitation is everyone’s responsibility. Indians for some reason think cleaning up is below them. It’s not the governments responsibility, it’s yours too
People defecating in public even in rivers where women do laundry, throwing away garbage everywhere, absolute lack of hygiene during food preparation...
One day I was in an Uber and casually commented with my friend in reaction to the driver spitting: No fellow spits on the road like this in USA and respects the road like they respect home. The driver turned back awkwardly. Lol. That made my day.
Absolutely, educating people about how to attain this is the top necessity. I liked the idea of an image, half with the trash and half with it clean, to be put up publicly. I hope this issue becomes a top priority and is resolved soon. Thanks for the videos Asian Boss!
I like how the lady at 3:50 plays with her hair while answering the question. She looks like she's fully aware of the trash situation and knows she's a hottie. :P
When I come to India I visit both my mother's and fathers family. Thankfully my paternal grandfather lives in Satsang Beas in Punjab.....which is like a clean Utopia in Indian. People who follow the teachings volunteer their time to keep the insulated town/compound clean. No trash anywhere. Actual roads. Crossing gaurds, traffics cordinators, garbage and recycle bins. Always people sweeping the streets.
Wrong. Look at any large city in the west, and they are quite clean. Even in Asia like SIngapore and Tokyo are very clean. I think it's corruption and a Third World mentality.
@@alejandrocanela691 i think the third world country & the mentality is of the west.....since it was discovered before some hundred years ago whereas Bharat was there already before thousands millions of yrs.....
Yeah what can we do about a country which was more developed 5000 years back when people were dying like flies in western countries. See the youtube video to understand why India & China have such high population. India's growth rate has been below world average at around 2.3% which is healthy.
Thank you for taking this issue up, Kei and Sheetal Shah. Hygiene and sanitation, solid waste management, have been the toughest to tackle in India. Personal hygiene isn't enough. Clean public spaces need public participation. There's so much more that needs to be done.
Fun fact all urbanised and civilized city in India are actually the most unclean city in India while villages and rural areas of our country are really clean
'Think globally, act locally.' It comes down to people having a lack of pride in their communities. They don't feel that anything beyond their own door belongs to them, so they don't care about it. Especially if it is not their permanent home. Then when rubbish builds up, they care about it even less, and so it becomes 'out there, and someone else's problem'. Perhaps a movement can be formed where residents in a street can come together, agree to get their one street clean, and supplied with rubbish bins and collections to keep it that way. Until people start feeling ownership of their own community outside their own door, then they will never feel the community pride that is essential if they wish their country to be as clean as other countries.

Presumably, they wash their teacups there everyday and that sink was disgusting. tytube3001 Sri Lanka has low population density and less daily migratory population. all indian city's population doubles during working hours and people goes back to their houses in city limits in the evening, what this means is that the property tax which is primary source of income from municipal corporations are being paid elsewhere. pure residential areas in the country always clean compared to mix-use(residential+business) areas. This can be seen within mumbai and surrounding areas .this is being corrected now by allowing other revenue streams for muncipal corporations. as far as china is concerned, let's first allow free press in china and then start comparing with china. all news that comes out of china is regulated.

Never been to India but the most effective way to make the street cleaner is to make it easy for the people to keep it clean. More trashcans. If they know that they only have to walk a minutes with their trash then they are more likely to do it.
MrSanktjakob some places don’t have many trash cans and it’s still kept really clean though.

True .. but aside public waste management, I will also add civil manners learnt and perpetuated by a population. Tokyo (~35 million people), for example, is among the cleanest mega-cities on earth and has close to no trashcans on the streets

what so special in that?....too much traffic because of a huge population density

It's mindset. Period.

@@johnhonai4601 yes people will say what's in it for us

Priorities. India is now focused on infrastructure development. And littering and honking is a culture thing. They don't teach these in schools.
We lack a sense of Civic responsibility we always think someone will do it
'Think globally, act locally.'
It comes down to people having a lack of pride in their communities.
Many Indian have that mentality.

@@user-im9ne5xx4r I have worked with indian people. I will say that I have noticed that the offices are normal and clean but if there is a sink in the office, it is disgusting. I actually pointed that out to my friend who owns the office and he was surprised and asked how to clean it. OMG They make their tea there every day and it is filthy and full of crud. Presumably, they wash their teacups there everyday and that sink was disgusting. Another office has an en suite bathroom and it was not the cleanest, but I think that it was better than most because the building had cleaning staff come clean on occasion. one day the boss' wife came to the office with their little son and he went in an peed all over the bathroom. The wife didnt seem to think she needed to clean up her son's mess. The indians I know and work with are very nice people who have money. They are not poor, starving, ignorant people. I really think it has something to do with caste systems, they grew up with servants in the house, and they think cleaning bathrooms is beneath them.
Asks older Indians what they think about all the trash. "Trash? What trash?"
Afroz Shah am Indian lawyer and environmental activist from Mumbai. He is best known for organising the world’s largest beach clean up project ( Versova beach in Mumbai). He is also involved in cleaning campaigns of Mithi river and Dana Pani beach in Mumbai and other countries too
I am an environmental worker....I have noted one thing that central india is a region which requires much much more attention from the government in terms of infrastructure and cleanliness
0:38 China has a larger population than India, and yet it is till 1000* better than India in cleanliness, Worst excuse.
Have you ever seen rural China? It's just as dirty as india
Ikr
I have the guilt feeling whenever I try to litter. Glad to know many fellow Indians have step up on hygiene and sanitation. Still there are many with 'chal ta hai' attitude.
I used to travel China from 1998 and same issues were applicable to China back then... Now it has improved drastically.
Have to educate the public from grassroots.
1:33.. being an northeast indian, i think its not really hard to find cleanliness in india
We are proud of this 🙏🏼🇮🇳

Didn’t expect better from a gypsy

Not really
I don't agree with this obsession of some indians(interviewer in this case) to compare india against the west.west had almost 100 years to evolve, india started transition phase just 20 years ago and moreover 50 years of socialism screwed india big time.
best comparison for india is china, here too the china experiment in terms of rapid urbanisation is yet to unravel itself. we will know the result in about 20-30 years.
Why are countries like Sri Lanka and China a lot cleaner, Indians love excuses.
tytube3001 Sri Lanka has low population density and less daily migratory population.
all indian city's population doubles during working hours and people goes back to their houses in city limits in the evening, what this means is that the property tax which is primary source of income from municipal corporations are being paid elsewhere. pure residential areas in the country always clean compared to mix-use(residential+business) areas. This can be seen within mumbai and surrounding areas .this is being corrected now by allowing other revenue streams for muncipal corporations.
as far as china is concerned, let's first allow free press in china and then start comparing with china. all news that comes out of china is regulated.
We should compare to the western but we should learn from them. For the western civilization to be current state they have list many life and they learn it after the lost of many people. For example the "Black plaque" . As we live modern world we can change our society without causing any epidemic death
Ordinary Guy Ordinary Guy There is a place called Little India in Singapore which is much more dirty than the rest of Singapore. The government has also put bins before but all the trash has gone right outside the bins due to pure laziness. It’s also the culture
@@thelegend27yes15 India the first country invent shampoo for bath and dustbin.
Our Ancestors do so much things. Why now India change like this?????
Sad reality
As an Indian living in Canada, I have stopped traveling back to India because I cannot travel there without getting sick. The air is too polluted. I cannot breathe in New Delhi. Garbage is everywhere. Rivers are polluted. Cannot drink anything other than bottled water or else you will end up in the hospital.
Indians here too
Proud to be an Indian 😂😂
Guy with a blue shirt from Chandigarh, great attitude bhai. It begins with the attitude. The day we decide in our hearts that Bharat Mata is our home, you will see great things happening in this nation once again!
