@@skidzholeshot1316 Not really, most Halloween... anything, is all gore now. Nothing wrong with that, but the best scary anything is something that builds suspense. Classic horror is dead.
@@PUNISHERMHS_2021 It's not quite as "Now" anymore, but I think 'Trick 'r Treat' does a marvelous job channeling old- school scares, ESPECIALLY considering it came out during the time when that repulsive "Torture porn" craze (i.e. The 'Saw' and 'Hostel' franchises) was in full swing.
This is an entertaining rendition. The narrator can really tell a great story. It reminds me of being in 3 grade and my teacher would read to us everyday from higher level novels like Anna Karenina. My teacher could use her voice to make it so entertaining. I mean reading Tolstoy to a bunch of 3rd graders and having them enjoy it is the sign of an awesome teacher.
I have to read the whole thing before English class tomorrow, so thank you so much for this!!! You even made it extra immersive with all the sound effects! You didn't have to go that hard but you did!!! THANK YOU!!!
Hats off to narrator and producer Jesse Cornett, who completed this nearly 2-hour production despite suffering a severely injured wrist after a recent fall. He continued to press on and work on this production in spite of reduced mobility of his wrist, and despite the pain. You are a Godsend, Jesse Cornett, and everyone who listens to this channel ought to know just how important you are, and how blessed we are to have you. Please indulge me for one more comment and praise for this production of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow. I have become somewhat fanatical about this story and having listened to several other productions I must repeat myself once again that this is absolutely the best one. Not only is the dramatization very good and fun to listen to but, again I say, Heather Ordover excels above the rest and bringing this classic to life. I love listening to this production over and over and over again! Thanks!
Only just found this, but I have to say, I really appreciate the narrator's intonation and, in this case, the anecdotal "comments" from the characters. It helps me to catch some of the winking, tongue-in-cheek humor in the story I otherwise might have missed, since the humor in older stories like this is sometimes lost to modern day readers like myself. So thank you!
Kinda sad that most of the people complaining about the 'lengthy' narrative likely have no idea this audio is taken straight from original work. I liked the heavily condensed Disney cartoon too. But it would help to pick up the book first, if only to know the narrative actually WAS this long. I realize in today's digital fast world most people have the attention span of 15 minutes; max. But it would help to remember these stories were written in a time before TV and internet. As such, these narratives were detailed and atmospheric since they were intended to aid readers/listeners and provide an hour's worth of entertainment.

It was a twist that made the story that much more enjoyable . I won't give anything away , but surfice to say everyone who listens to the story from end to end will be greatly awarded .
Ms. Heather Ordover handled the narration beautifully- I handled the sound design, background characterizations, score and production... what can I say, Heather and I make a great team;) Thank you for listening and commenting- Be sure to check out "The Simply Scary Podcast" as well!
This is my favorite reading on UA-cam of this story. The little pauses, and emotional weight this woman gives during narration are great. (I'm not really a fan of an old grandpa reading me this, in a thick, English accent by an over-dramatic, crackling fake fire... on account this is an _American_ story. Yes, yes, Colonists were still transitioning from English to American ways at the time, but it doesn't help me concentrate on the details of the story, lol. I feel like it breaks immersion, and I'm just focusing on his Englishness). I appreciate the regular and plain delivery... in the accent I was raised with... so that the creepy, supernatural, and fantastical elements stick out more. I love the little extra dialogue, sound effects, and especially the spooky music to help aid the imagination. Ichabod's voice is exactly how I imagined it from the book for decades. I also love how Ichabod at 1:29:16 just literally "NOPED" right the heck out of there, lol. Great reading. 🎃👻
Thank you for narrating a tale that is not only close to my heart but close where I grew up in real life. Sleepy Hollow is about an hour or so south of the town I was raised in along the Eastern side of the Hudson River.
AbsyntheAndTears Bing’s reading was memorable, but myself I really would have preferred it if in addition to The Frog and The Toad story that Basil Rathbone would have narrated this story for the film mainly because I just love his Edgar Allen Poe readings and would have loved him to have given Sleepy Hollow and darker somber tone in keeping with Irving’s dark original story.
Sublime! I must have listened to this 50 times. The narrator is perfect, just gorgeous voice, and I love the background voice and sound effects. A very clever style, magical overall.
Heather Ordover does such an amazing narration. One of my favorite parts is her inflection the moment when Ichabod and the Headless Horseman start the chase. " Awaaay , then, they daaashed through thick and thin; stones FLYING and sparks FLASHING at every BOOUUND!"
Ichibod's character really shone through with this rendition of the story! Excellent work and kudos to everyone who worked on this one. Especially Mr. Jesse, thank you for doing one of my favorite childhood characters justice!
I first read this story all the way through in 2012 and immediately fell in love with it. Wish I had read it in high school. Irving is one of the greatest American writers.
This was so great. My boys absolutely loved it, as did I. Digging the ad lobbed Crane 🤣 “Nope!” “So you see ladies and gentlemen if the glove doesn’t fit you must acquit!”

You know when you read old scary stories, they aren't scary? Well, I'm going to listen to this in complete darkness at midnight and only focus on the narration by using noise canceling headphones. I've never even watched the Disney adaptation, so I hope I'm in for a ride. Will update once finished. Update: I fell asleep during the last 10 to 20 minutes. I had to listen again. The audiobook was wonderful. I've recorded and edited audiobooks. This is at the very very least 10 hours of work. Unless they had a whole team on this, it would be basically impossible to do in less time. For me, I know it would have taken at least 60 hours of work. Completely amazing! The story narration by Irving is not my favorite. I just know this is not for my personal taste, and that's okay. Definitely not scared. Up next: Lovecraft!
No Robert E. Howard? He has some good scary stories! Lovecraft has some terrifying stories too! I recommend the”Dunwich Horror” or “Shadow Over Innsmouth” 🤓

I love this, I have to write a paper for this and it's so nice to have the story as well as an audio version to play so I can focus better, many thanks
A narrator can either make a story as flat as the paper it’s written on or bring the story to life. Heather Ordover brings this story vibrantly to life. Very entertaining indeed!
What is crazy is that I just left CraftLit to find the cartoon here and then go back and finish Part 3 of Sleepy Hollow. Saw this dramatised version and thought I'd check it out. Low and behold it is Heather narrating. Crazy!

Narrator: Heather Ordover is superb. She doesn't drone on in a monotone that puts you to sleep; no pun intended.
What really stands out to me is that nobody cares about his disappearance, as much as he was a gold digger and was known to take advantage of others he didn’t receive very much genuine concern in return.
This is one of my favorites I live in CT so I am always happy to hear our little states name in a story
She reminds me of "God" from Good Omens! The way she speaks is so similar and it's amazing. Thank you!
Aaaahhhh I'm doing this for my first play ever and I'm so excited!!
Love this adaptation and narration reminds me of a of radio show.
I love this story.
So do I, I also liked the movie

Love this story
Having to read this and much more for an American Literature class. Listening to this on audio was vastly more enjoyable and a needed break from all the reading. Thank you for this in 2024.
Washington Irving is IMO a very underrated author. I wonder if some know that he also wrote RIP VAN WINKLE. Some of my other favorites include THE ADV. OF A GERMAN STUDENT and THE DEVIL & TOM WALKER.
I only pull this out during the fall months, to keep it special and beautiful. And it never disappoints. Here’s to the start of a beautiful fall season ❤
Personally I love it and thank you for sharing I wish I was listening thru a stereo instead of headphones , but I've been enjoying just listening to these stories anyway I can, thank you so very much
I love this, I have to write a paper for this and it's so nice to have the story as well as an audio version to play so I can focus better,

This is great. I prefer listening this when taking train to go to work. Just close my eyes and listen to this. Thanks
My favorite narrator :)
This is wonderful. Love this reading.
How about that Heather Ordover? I could listen to her morning, noon and night and never tire of that lovely voice.
Heather. Ordover. is. amazing.
+Chilling Tales For Dark Nights is there a way to become a narrator?
+Chilling Tales For Dark Nights yeah, I'm curious too. you should do a contest for auditions for a new narrator.
Crazy!
Wonderful piece. Heather's got such a soothing voice. Her voice has got a really nice 'classic' feel to it (if that makes any sense). Great job!
The most enjoyable audio read I have ever experienced! I have subscribed, of course. I only wish I could find adequate words of appreciation for Jesse Cornett. The narration brought the landscape, events and most importantly, characters to life!
Thank you very much for the kind words!
My Fav Story Ever great job .😍😘😍😘
