  • Welcome back everyone! We got a big video for you today, the Sledge gets some HOP UPS. I also replaced the chassis because of the bend below the motor. I was breaking pinions left and right, and we were sure it was because of the bend causing a change in lash between the motor and spur gear. I chose the grey chassis over green because, well that’s too much green. I think the green and grey really go well together. A big shout out to Amain Hobbies for taking care of the chassis, that’s why I buy my parts from them.
    Sorry for the poor camera angle over some parts of the video. Let us know if you’ve seen or had issues with chassis bending. If this happens again, I will be switching to M2C. Everything used in this video is below, along with a link to purchase them.

    I never seperated an rc chassis like that. That's an awesome way to do that!
    No true basher should have the trans separated from motor/motor mount. They should have the center gear trans and motor mount as one piece.

    • @redbanditracing

      The towel really helps keep things from moving, as long as you snug all the screws and check to make sure every is aligned before tightening your golden. And recommendation for the center diff mount? Why would you install a plastic center drive mount you know. Otherwise runs great now

      @@redbanditracing I'm not sure of anyone that makes a one piece diff/motor mount. I'll check mine. I have the PPS? Or some name? I got my truck used so I'm not 100% sure.

    I’ve bent 2 chassis in the same spot, about to order my 3rd. Been through 4 motors also, lots of spurs. I do take it to a motocross track mostly, never takes any head on impacts, but the front end does slap the the ground pretty hard if you’re getting decent air and landing back wheels first

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  10 місяців тому

      Added a chassis cover, taped up the slit on the chassis exposing the spur gear, added an extra hardened pinion all in hopes it won’t chip the pinion.

    was thinking a bit 'bout this chassi bending point, and it's just a hint but i think it might be the result of three forces bending it being : weight of the motor on landing + torque of the motor pushing it down when it accelerate + torque feedback lock, when the wheels meet the ground while holding throttle.
    my theory might be correct if the gear spin for "forward" push the motor down.
    you know, torque transfer and all that ;)
    is that the case i'm curious ?

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  3 місяці тому +1

      You’re in the right direction, I agree. The bend seems to always be on the motor side. If they are going to use aluminum for the chassis they need to make it stronger, or a better motor mount system like M2C. Or maybe even a plate under the motor that stretches to the servo side for strength.

    • @Origam-I
      @Origam-I 3 місяці тому +1

      @@redbanditracing yep, if this theory does work then they will need to triangulate the motor or motor mount to have the force transfer to the other side of the chassi, or make a fold where the problem is..maybe both XD !

  • @dudeononewheel

    Do you think the skid plate helps reinforce the chassis and bit? Hoping that it might help prevent bending!

    Do you think the chassis is bending in that spot from the heat of the motor making it a weak point?

    • @redbanditracing
      @redbanditracing  5 місяців тому

      The motor is getting very hot, but the bend is definitely below the motor. Brand new chassis and it’s already bent. The good news is the M2C motor mount fixes the issue and the bend doesn’t affect the gearing anymore.
