The pistol doesn't do any damage. So in other words, it's just like the final game's version of the pistol?
It may suck, but I fucking love duel wielding them, they just feel so great to use

Before the patches the pistol could kill in 9 shots dual wielded. Does this help defend the pistol in 2? No but it was still alright for a few months somewhat.

During my childhood (now I became adult), I always assumed franchise wide, it was the absolute worst gun of Halo. Shame I never had any other Halo games than Halo 2.

Halo 2 uses a modified CE engine, just with better lighting and Havok physics implementation.

Then again, when he mentions the shot for the Shotgun as "slugs," that's incorrect. I'm pretty sure it's some type of buck shot. 00B judging by the pellet count and size.

Now we just need someone to leak a build of Halo 2 with the Stencil engine on it.
It's unlikely to happen because I don't think anyone but the devs have put their hands on it, it'd be a miracle for them to leak it

About 2-3 weeks before halo 2 originally released in the US my local internet cafe at the time had a French version of I'm not sure was a full or alpha/beta version of halo 2 for everyone to play/lan with. I haven't had any luck finding any information of this build of Halo 2 anywhere online, can anyone shed any light on what version that possibly was?
40:07 the if you enter the passenger seat weaponless you go into a t pose is actually present in the retail version but Ive only seen done with marines
On halo reach if you download a no weapons game type or a dayz gametype that spawns with no weapons it will t pose when in the vehicle.
it's a pretty important thing to acknowledge any missteps you may have taken and genuinely try to do better in the future. good on you for admitting to your mistakes and hearing others out, and im also sorry to hear that you've been going through a rough patch in life currently

A warzone Halo 2 style would have been fantastic. Though I imagine it wouldn’t run well considering it’s the OG Xbox.

You reminded me how unnecessarily big waterworks was. The map feels like it was intended for a larger player cap than the 16 that the release version of the game has. I bet it could have been a cool map with something more like 24 players on it.
It could be pretty neat as a Warzone map or something in H5.
I still think it's fun though

Let me just say if Halo 2 didn't have split-screen (which was basically the only way I played it, since I didn't have an Xbox but my friend did) I would've never fallen in love with the game. Halo 2 is my all-time favorite Halo game for a reason, because me and my best friends would sit and play campaign co-op and multiplayer for hours and hours. Without split-screen idk if I ever would've even played at all.

It looks to me that given the state this alpha was in Bungie basically made Halo 2 in just over a year which give credence to them describing Halo 2 as having the 'mother of all crunches'. It's a shame we never got to see a halo game with that fancy stencil lighting system.

their is a new halo mcc build coming, but i wonder how bad was the alpha & betas i wonder?
the final release was a botched & broken release as each game in a lot of ways are incomplete.
the games on mcc are broken & downgraded compare to their in functionality compared to their originals.
i don't need to talk about cea, reach being missing; H2A was botched removing exploits & features in Halo 2.
halo 3's re-release was botched from what the halo fans expected, like a flood firefight mode from halo 3 ODST in MCC.
Halo 4 is missing it's in game features & all it's customization's, armor abilities, Tactical packages +upgrades aren't accessible.
forget sprint not being in 1, 2 & 3, loadouts can't be customized in game on halo 4 modes anymore!! ^^'
also a fusion of the infinity art style & asset from H2A & Halo 4 aren't being kept together & it's inefficient!
i'd like to see if the files can be transfer-ed between H2A multiplayer & Halo 4's multiplayer's to see ported.
with the game engines the same, copying & porting maps, weapons, vehicles, objects, skins & assets would do.
you can tell who's clocks are off from the debug text in the middle of the screen

What are the double hex number strings in the halo 2/halo 3 alpha/beta builds for? (The alphanumeric strings next to the ammo counter)

Do you think it will ever be possible to get our hands on an alpha still running Halo 2 stencil engine? Or was the game still too early in dev to even be playable in a alpha build?
Too early in dev, as far as I know the E3 demo was completely scripted and might have actually been pre-constructed
Awesome work, Vengeful. But, I think you missed an important thing about the reloading. You can actually slightly speed up the reloading speed by meleeing, just like in CE. If you try to reload and melee before the reload animation completes in Halo 2, you don't get back your bullets. However, in CE and the Alpha, you get back your bullets if you melee as soon as you see the clip get into the gun.
The thing is, that’s not always true. A lot of the Melee animations take forever in the alpha, like basically all the human weapons. With the BR especially, you’re better off just letting the reload finish.
The Vengeful 'Vadam Oh, right.. It's still an interesting remnant from CE though in my opinion. Try the Brute Shot. It increases reload speed quite a bit. For the other weapons, it's situation dependent I guess. Imagine a close situation where that could save you. You melee your opponent right when you see the clip enter the gun, then you' re immediately ready to shoot some more, since you already have a full clip. Unless meleeing is really useless in the Alpha? I haven't exactly tested it outside of a single player environment.

I always just sit around thinking what Halo 2 could've been if they were able to keep the "pstencil engine" and were given another year of development. The original bungie team were so ambitious and ahead of their time. I hope one day we get access to the original halo 2 in its pstencil engine state. Also the E3 2000 halo ce demo would be great to get our hands on too.

All those old Xbox games that were new and were just releasing content on Xbox Live was just recent on that article.
