I called the Boutique in Spain where I live and they said “oh sorry all sold out” I tried the same in Poland and the Nederlands on my travels where the answer was the same. “You can’t get one of those now it is a limited edition “ I was told. This week I chanced upon another dealer in Spain who had one in stock . I expressed a little interest and they enticed me with discount , so I bought it. It has not arrived in the post yet so perhaps I’ve been scammed but I’m thinking how clever all these watch companies are. I have paid Eur3600 for a Quartz watch and feel so lucky. Lovely video as always chaps. Keep it up

I was excited when I saw this gs release hoping it was a hand wound version of the 407. At 34mm it's too small for my preference but I'm sure it would look beautiful in my wife's wrist.
Continue to love the channel. Tried both the new green and gold, and the rock face two days ago. The former makes you want to have lunch at a private members shooting club and own the place ( even while I think the 017 was the better incarnation, the date window is more dress and less tool. The Rock Face is a different animal, a watch to wear all year, stunning with a bracelet. Keep at it, great stuff
You’ve inspired me to wear my green dial alpinist today. I like the dial it’s distinctive and a highly functional watch. And apparently if I get lost on the way to work I can navigate with it. 😊
Another excellent video Andrew & Tom. The Alpinist is expensive for what it offers but definitly better in the grey finish. The Grand Seiko is now a grgeous watch but I think 36mm would be better, anything less is too petite. The quartz movement is the best in the world for accuracy and the dial is beautiful, what more could you ask for. 👍👍⌚😎

Seiko Alpinist is expensive for what it offers, for 1k there are better watches on the market but Seiko Alpinist have some cult followers and they keep the hype up. On the other hand that Grand Seiko is a gorgeous watch and it's fairly priced for that high quality finishing and it has one of the best quartz movements ever made.

My favourite Alpinist was the 2020 limited edition SPB199J1, which was with a gorgeous bluish face and steel case. I just wish they went back to not having a Cyclops, as I hate them.
Those monsters! I was itching for that silver and blue combo and was perfectly content with my Prospex SPB213J1. Now they've got an Alpinist which is an actual mountaineer looking watch. And it's Europe only. It hurts.
Finding what, am Omniwatari? They're in stock all over (in the UK at least). Love the Omni but just too far out of reach. Not sure which Skyflake I prefer, visually the Quartz looks cleaner and in my opinion better, but want to see it in person to gauge the size on wrist

Gotta disagree on the Alpinist. I love green, it's my favorite color, but I don't want it on my watch face... unless it's the Alpinist. I don't know why, but the green and gold with the cathedral hands just looks... right. That new gray and blue is pretty tight though, I like that one too.

It’s funny, I have the Seiko SRPF53 which looks very similar to this. In fact, add a date window at 6 o’clock and put it on a multilink bracelet and you’d have that watch 🤔

The Skyflake is way, way, way too expensive for what it is. Why not get a brand new SBGX261/263 on a bracelet with the same movement and the date for 2000$ vs this being 3900$? Just make a snowflake 9f quartz in a SBGX261 case and price it for ~2500-3k$ and you have a best selling quartz luxury watch.

34mm is a great sized watch. I have watches upto 41mm, but my 15200 has perfect dimensions. Unless it is someone with Popeye wrists, anybody saying it is too small or a woman's watch size is the kind of person who believes what the BBC tells them.
Very enjoyable lads, as usual. Two lovely watches. I actually like the alpinist more but that’s mainly because of that movement. I own the seiko shogun which has the 6R35 with 3 days of reserve and it’s a cracker. If you can find a watch with a better mechanical movement than that for this price you’re doing well. 34? Too small for me, but have nothing against quartz, in fact would love to own a GS quartz watch one day if I could
one way i think of getting a bit of the Seiko and GS experience is with the Seiko Presage with Arita Porcelain dial. i just fall into the perfect beauty of that white dial. love it. oh and thanks for the video.

Grand Seiko’s finishing and detail is second to none for the price. Buy a GS and you will have enough money left over to buy another watch and another one and so on. Thanks Tom 😊
Seiko is a very well established watch brand. Unfrotunately, many reviewers have noted a drop off in quality in the sub $500 watches, as Seiko seems to be focusing more on their upscale and luxury lines, such as Grand Seiko. I recently bought a Seiko Astron and am really enjoying it. I don't understand paying $500+ for a Speedtimer (stainless steel) when I get an Astron (titanium, exceptional AR coating, radio sync, etc.) for around the same price.
34mm?! I have a 150mm wrist, and even I wouldn't wear a 34mm. That's the same diameter as the Mickey Mouse I had when I was seven. Still have it by the way, and it still winds and runs perfectly after 45 years.
It's funny you mention that, I have a 170mm wrist and I have felt daring enough to order a 36mm watch (smallest one I have ever ordered). What is the max size you can pull off on your wrists? 42mm is a push for me as long as lug-to-lug is low (47mm lug-to-lug seems to be my "max")

I have a 40mm Bell & Ross with a 51mm lug-to-lug. Even though I love the watch, it's really too big on my wrist. I didn't take the lug-to-lug into account when I bought the watch on-line. Now, I always consider that.
Was hoping to get some advice from fellow watch geeks, I have an older Ulysse Nardin 353-22 18 gold medals chronograph. The piece was given to me completely broken and water damaged, the owner said if you can fix it good on you. I sent it in to UN and they quoted me $2,600.00 to replace the hands, crown, crystal, dial and movement. They seem to go for around 3.5k-4.5k and I was wondering since this would basically come back as a brand new watch with all internal parts being replaced if you guys felt it would be a worthwhile invenstment. Or perhapse am I better off saving the extra 4 thousand for a new model marine? Thanks guys!

That Alpinist is for me, the best looking of the Aplinist range. The GS with a quartz movement and 34 mm... meh, put 1000€ more and you have great stuff from GS with handwound calibre.
I completely agree that 34-36mm are starting to become good sizes. The trend towards smaller watches is certainly picking up steam. I never thought I'd go smaller than 40-42 and after getting the new 36mm Explorer (supposedly 35.2mm), I can absolutely see going smaller. Great looking watch and definitely one I'll be taking a look at. Great video gents! In particular your sidebar about having to stay late at work because of inspiration from a snowstorm. Hilarious!
I own the alpinist spb209j1 which is brown and gold. It's even more beautiful then this grey thing. It's too modern for the rest of the watch if you ask me. The GS is beautiful but not busy enough if you ask me. (This is all my opinion ofcourse :) )
I have a 36mm that is just too small for me. But a 36mm Baltic MR01 looks normal watch size on my wrist. It looks larger than my other 36mm sitting side by side on a table. So yes, 36mm is wearable. I know that now. But 34mm is crazy talk.

Wished they blued the steel on the numbers and hands instead of using a deep blue paint/coating. That would have made it even more better.
I love simpler version of alpinist. The spb 155 baby alpinist. No compass bezel, extremely high legibility, and right size at 38 mm
