This is the best Homeworthy episode I’ve ever seen. Not only is the garden and home absolutely beautiful, but the owner told a beautiful story and shared her life with the audience which is not something she had to do. I loved this episode and Peter seems like he was an AMAZING individual. I love episodes like this……
Hello everyone. I don't normally comment but this brought tears to my eyes. My beloved husband also passed away on 23 April, 2024. So this episode was very poignant. Especially when she said, "Peter said "I'm really sorry that I have to leave you after 50 years ." " My husband passed away on our 36th wedding anniversary. He was an architect and I love my home and garden as it is a constant reminder of his intelligence and love for our family design. Thank you Alison for knocking on the door of Maryly's house and inviting us into her home and garden. I learned so much and loved her gentle disposition and love for their beautiful life and home. I think I saw a hummingbird in the background at about 28:13??? Not sure as we do not have any in our area. Love from sunny Sydney, Australia.
Sending you much love from the UK (being the opposite of sunny 90% of the time), so sorry for your loss. I have 'only' been married 20 years - this must be a huge, huge loss for you.xx
Your garden looked so familiar, so I looked through my Facebook photos and sure enough, I have three photos of the front of your house from 2012. The same garden gate, planters, and peak of your roof showing through the lush vegetation. I was on vacation there (I live in Idaho), and happened to be walking by and was captivated. Thank you for allowing me to see the rest of your garden!
What a beautiful home and Coronado is a gem of a spot. Maryly could write a book on the history of this home and her family’s life here. Sending best wishes to her and her family.
I watch a lot of your videos, but don't usually comment. This one was a standout - especially the garden. Maryly is delightful. It must be so hard on her losing her husband after so many decades. But what a great life she had and has with her large family and that gorgeous home. Thanks for sharing, Maryly.
Sweet. We have been walking by her garden for 30 years. We used to live on the island and met her once when she was out front. Now when we visit we take our kids by that circle when we visit. This was lovely.
Yes! I agree this is one of your best episode on Homeworthy. Lovely garden and home. So sorry to hear about her losing her husband. My condolence to her.
What a magical garden ! Winning over 70 awards for your garden is certainly well deserved. Truly just fabulous. So sorry for the loss of your husband but what a wonderful life and one that continues to be well lived! Blessings !
I loved this episode; the down to earth attitude of this woman, her lovely home, the history of her marriage. It was refreshing. My condolences on the loss your husband. I am a gardener in PA and recently lost my mother father and brother within 3 years. My sustaining and solace has been my garden. I totally relate to this wonderful heartfelt episode. ❤
I admire this wonderful, soft spoken woman. I also appreciate her beautiful home which has evolved over time. Hope she has her husband's spirit with he until they are reunited again. All my best elegant lady.
Love the woman and her beautiful garden and home. Gardens are such a sanctuary, and hopefully this one gives her much peace. I love Coronado. I have a treasured silver teapot from the downstairs shop at the Hotel Del, which I got when my sons ship came home into Coronado from the war. I will never forget that day. That front garden bed ,with the white picket fence ,is the perfect cottage feel. So beautiful. The white arbor and the large terra cotta pots are pure charm. Her gorgeous rose collection is incredible. So many things I relate to. Born and raised and grew up in the Bay Area . My first apartment was $105.00 a month in 1968 too!!!! When I tell my grand kids, they can't believe it. Just love everything about her, her story, her home and garden. I know it must be so hard being there without Peter. But I am sure the memories and his spirit are there everyday. The magic lives.
Wow! One classy lady! Bottle whatever she has, please. Unpretentious, down to earth, interesting, interested, and a great spirit. Oh, and her garden and house were lovely and interesting. Terrific episode.
What an exquisite home and garden. Thank you for sharing. Katharine Hepburn said “The calla lilies are in bloom again” in the movie Stage Door. Gloria Swanson said “I’m ready for my closeup Mr Demille” in Sunset Boulevard.
Thank you so much for knocking on her door, Homeworthy. What a treasure you found! Maryly is an utterly delightful and charming lady, and her gardens and home are lovely and inviting! I felt as if I could happily listen to more of her stories for the rest of the day. What a fabulous treat!
Coronado is such a pretty place. I was there once and the homes/gardens were storybook nice. What a beautiful house/garden her and her husband created. I've never seen stairs like that before. We have a lot of helicopters where we live too. Couldn't agree more! "The sound of freedom"

What a lovely lady, gorgeous garden and inviting home! I am so sorry she lost her husband. It sounds like it was a wonderful marriage. This was very special indeed!

Losing one's soulmate is one of the hardest things to endure. I felt her pain and it brought tears to my eyes. This video is a wonderful tribute to Peter and his legacy and to the life that they shared. The family photos are priceless. I wouldn't say there isn't any crime in Coronado though. So very sorry for the loss of her beloved husband! Loved this home and garden tour and meeting this dear woman. Coronado appears to be a paradise. I wasn’t familiar with it before now. The award winning gardens are so lush and just beautiful. I will be watching this one over and over again.

This was one of my favorite episodes. What a beautiful house and gracious lady. It's wonderful that Maryly has so many great memories of her husband to keep with her there.
I saw the post with photos of her front garden last week and immediately recognized her home as I was lucky enough to live on the island between 2007 and 2010. I lived in the cheapest dilapidated apartment on the island on the busiest road and loved every second of it. Living in Coronado and being a part of the community will forever be a highlight moment in my life ❤❤❤
Thank you for showcasing this incredible home and garden. Our gracious hostess comes across like an old friend sharing stories. Her light shines throughout the entire video, and you can see the reflection of that light in every nook and cranny and corner of that incomparable garden.

Absolutely my favorite video. What a sweet woman. So sad she lost her husband it sounds like they were a great couple. Love her gardens and her house. I swear the one time I was in Coronado I had my photo taken in front of that house. How strange life is.
My sincerest condolences to you and your family. I have watched this already a dozen or more times… it’s so calming and peaceful. What is the name of the climbing geranium you have there? I love and have many perennial geraniums but no climbers.
Maryly's garden came up on Pinterest for me. I was really glad to see a video of her garden. This video was really lovely. I didn't feel like I was touring the 1% like I usually do with a lot of Homeworthy videos.

My absolute favorite episode yet, what a gracious lady!
This was my favorite video! What a stunning garden and such a beautiful homeowner. I am sorry for her loss. I lost my husband of 36 years to cancer last year. This video my my day 💕😊🪻🌺🌸🌼🌻
There is so much love in this house. You can feel the warmth of her family and a life well lived.
