Beneath the snobbery layer within the brain that is drawn to scale fidelity (including realistic weathering, rail-height, slow speeds etc.) a deeper layer exists that is reserved for immaculate shiny tin-plate... whether original, restored or replica. Running on the floor is never a good idea but having the camera at track-level outweighs any temporary concerns for hitchhiking bugs, dust and (worse) hair. Very nice! Very enjoyable! Thanks!
A Spectacular Tinplate Layout!! I love seeing old tinplate locomotives belch plumes of smoke with all of the cool houses, stations, and the Hellgate Bridge looks beautiful. Very Cool. Thanks!
Very enjoyable seeing the trains on the floor, they how they look the best for me, winding in and out of the furniture as when I was a kid.I cant do that now with bad Arthritis and dont want a restrictive size board layout. The sounds are very good too,all mine are original Lionel with no sounds apart from the whistle tenders. I am restricted to buying old Lionel beat up tinplate trains and restoring them from Ebay, they are very rare in the UK where I live now in any condition. importing them from the States is very expensive shipping. I prefer the original Lionel over the repro stuff.
@ElGreatZot I have not had any problems with excessive lint or carpet fibers building up on the mechanical parts of my engines from running them on carpeting.
How did you wire the MTH accessories?? I'm planning on getting a 269E for christmas, O gauge with Realtrax and I can't for the life of me figure out how I would wire an accessory like the No.98 coal bunker
+Sheamus Meade The layout is tinplate track and all the accessories in the video were just placed there for show.Nothing was wired for operating.I do not use Realtrax,so I can't help you with that one.

Love carpet layouts. Reminds me of when I was a kid. And that's just what we did with them. You have a great selection of trains I love it!😍😍
There really is something magical about running tinplate trains on a carpet floor, thanks for posting.

Excellent! I like the way these modern production trains run and sound. Do you have problems with carpet lint?
Thanks, Bill
The trains in the video are run with the DCS control system.
i wish i had a train like that
MTH made beautiful trains. Too bad they left us..
Do you have a track plan?
+Sheamus Meade My Dad built the layout. He did make a super detailed track plan of it.I will take a look for it and let you know when I find it.

Layout is cute. The trains are reproduction, not from the 30s. You got smoked out.
