Beautiful quality toys and workmanship for the 30's. These were made to last and to be passed down generational, real family heirlooms. Thanks for making this video, very educational.
I had a Wind-up 0 gauge train set like that and I saved my pocketmoney for it plus a little help from Opa, than I got an electric train set. Since it was wartime one could not buy add'l tacks or cars. So I converted the two-rail tracks to three-raul electric tracks and also made some changes for the couplings to combine the two train set's cats. Christmas 1941 my dad build me a lovely train station and the year afterwards a control tower to house the powerpack. Those were the days.
This video is a wonderful addition to my playlist. Thank you for assembling the collection of trains trains, track and accessories, for building the layout, demonstrating the operation and telling the story with your movie. Bill
These tinplate trains are built like tanks anyways. Besides, they were always meant to be played. One of the best ways to keep something in mint condition *is* to run it (With proper maintenance of course)
Absolutly, i understand if it's a museum collection in absolute mint condition or something like that, but i run and maintain all locomotives in my collection, most of them where realy worn when i got them, but i think they will easily be good to go for another 70 Years now, basically all i needed to do was to clean them up a bit and put som fresh oil on the gears (+ soldering back a few demolished tin plates that where originaly softsoldered on a locomotive that looked like someone dropped it on a concrete floor and accidentally stepped on it in the past, but now it's fit for fight again and after i just carefully bended the pieces back again with my fingers one can barly even spot a dent on it.)
Just watched your video again after almost a year! Enjoyed just as much. I've acquired some standard gauge Bing for the American market, including a Prohibition era Anheuser Busch refer. Will be uploading some pictures in the next few days.
Absolutely charming ,I love big tinplate trains but prefer electric ,dont like winding things up! video- very well done, beautiful collection. Greetings from UK.
i know this is old , but it is still fun to watch. these windup trains along with battery powered trains are closely related to live steam as they seem to behave in almost the same way.
I never got the whole collect hundred of model trains and never run them! Thats what they made for or collectors who buy mint looking sets that don't run but never try to get them running,
That must be the cleanest track in existence!
Wonderful layout with charming music to go with it.
You cranked the first engine 12 Times and the switcher14 times...impressed with the power and speed of the clockwork mechanism!

The grandaddy of garden railroading as we know it.
Good to see 'em running around and being played with, as they were meant to be.

There are collectors out there who would be aghast that you would run such a mint set, I applaud it, that's what they were meant for :D

Beautiful layout! It shows you can do some fantastic operation like switching and shunting with clockwork! Fantastic!
This video is so much fun to watch. The trains are beautiful and love the music.
I loved the Vienna Express the best ! All thing expertly handled by the "Eigentumer."
Very good video, superb trains, thoughtful layout design and very well filmed. Great stuff.
At my age, I don't get as turned on by watching toy trains on a layout...BUT this was really great and I had fun watching it!
Better than very good - the video and the music are just superb and create a real sense of nostalgia. Thanks for posting.

Cómo lo consiguió ojalá tuviera
1:43 what kind of signal is that, the one with the big red circle? And 2:00 where can I get off of these? And what is it?
it came out in the late 20s in the golden age of railroads so things are gonna be different
That is the style of semaphore signals used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
I have that model engine except my track Is so old it snapped when the engine Was running and it crashed
I never got the whole collect hundred of model trains and never run them! Thats what they made for or collectors who buy mint looking sets that don't run but never try to get them running,
Is this "1 Gauge" bigger than "O" gauge?
Yes, 1 gauge is the same size as the modern G gauge.
