I look forward to the update..been using open XR toolkit and Pimax XR for some...runtime now.. all jokes aside..this will help significantly..Hats off to Pimax and developers 😮😅
QuadViews to work must be implemented in the game itself. It is implemented in DCS but not in MSFS. There is no way for Pimax alone to allow it for MSFS if the MSFS doesn't support it. Implementing specific Pimax OpenXR runtime will make a configuration a bit easier, but I would not expect performance increase in MSFS over the current PimaxXR.
This will probably make me get a Pimax. I have to switch anyways as my WMR headset is set to stop working sometime this year per Microsoft. Was a little concerned over the weight of the Pixmax headsets but this is a huge advantage imo as for sure OpenXR is where it's at. Guessing I'll end up with a Crystal but dunno as have yet to compare the various Pimax headsets. I'm big into simracing and only dabble in flight sims but same requirements either way.
Pimax still needs to fix the crystal with msfs and motion smoothing. Only client v1.14 works with msfs motion smoothing, a known issue for well over a year
The basic premise of this video is incorrect. OpenXR is not being discontinued! The OpenXR Toolkit is, but that is a different thing. I mean, it makes no sense to say it it EoL and then continue the video explaining how Pimax is tying themselves to OpenXR. Lastly, Quad Views is not the way to go. We'll get much better results if that is done by the game and OpenXR. That is where that belongs.
The description of Quad Views is not correct. With Quad Views, there are four frames rendered, two for each eye: a small, high resolution image for where your eyes are looking, and a large, low-resolution image for peripheral vision.
I never even noticed. I still have to use the openxr toolkit for obvious reasons. The open xr that is hard coded into steamvr is crap so I disabled it. My crystal light doesn't have a very high fov without the special lenses.
Smart smoothing doesnt work with the Beta with PimaxXR built in but its great being able to uninstall steamvr and the others and have great vr. Running an 8KX.
Fingers crossed this both OpenXR inclusion and Quad VR rendering works for the 8K-X as well.
Thanks for your info.

Agreed

What if you want to play a steam game?

I need to try my 8KX! What GPU are you running
when will they release the update
Could be early of October
when will pimax release this version
OpenXR does not work well with the Crystal Pimax Light. Here is Pimax XR helpful.
