I enjoyed the saw action, thanks. As a side note, fill one third of a clear quart jar with some of the dust/dirt you showed at the beginning of the video.....fill the jar on top of the dirt to two thirds capacity with water and cap it.....shake the jar for about one minute and set it down in a place where it can't be touched/moved for 24 hours. After the 24 look at the side of the jar and notice the different layers of sand/dirt that have settled to the bottom. This is a quick way of noting the layers of clays, silts, sands, etc. in the soil mix. I used this when I was trying to determine the quality of the dirt I was using for road building. Try this with your sons and let them see the dirt change, might be educational for one of them someday. ....13
Hey Wade when I worked construction we had a long period without rain and the dirt was the same way it was like Nestle Quick, then when it did rain you couldn't do anything but bust your butt when you tried to walk in it and get equipment unstuck for days so I feel your pain brother stay safe and watch out for our other hero Stevie !
that shed bark will allow for fox fire to show up on the log in a few day. go into the woods at night, log will be glowing . I've seen fox fire in Harrison County on a skinned log Karl Ferree yarded up in the woods.
Sand, silt, clay is all size-based particles, so when it poofs like that and gets bottomless when wet, it could be clay though it would take quite a while to dry out that much. More likely it is loess, which is wind blown silt, which means it's all on the small side for silt (almost clay) but due to the particle size being a bit larger than clay, it will dry out a bit quicker between rains. There's a bleep-ton of it all over the midwest from when the glaciers where roaming the upper midwest and nothing much was growing in the cold climate nearby.
I hear southern Nevada we call that poof dirt. It's a bear riding quads and dirt bikes through it when you're hauling butt hit it and it's 16+ inches deep
Na its volcanic ol chap , we had it in the central north island in New zealand , the pumice lands as it was called , exactly like that , plough a paddock and it would be like cement dust in no time , and in the winter when it froze & then thawed it would be like a load of ol snot an be really shity , the motors used to covered in this grey snot !!! hope that sorts that for you , great vidjoes
Got notified great vidja, should have called Stevie for the bee's you know how he loves them. And would have added a great segment with him running from them.
I work for a tree power line clear cutting and tree trimming company. I’d love to cut timber. Just ain’t got the money to start my own business or the equipment to do it
looks to me like a silty loam with a little clay underneath I'm thinking. clay and loam are needed to produce the good timber the silt on top explains the dust I'm thinkin
Hey wade. Nice big poplar. I live up a holler and there is tons of nice big poplar like that one and bigger. But hell you dam near have crawl up the hill to get to them. Later
Logger Wade yeah I'm probably gonna keep a few cans of spray on the skidder. Only real downfall of the old 518 is having no protection from that at all
i missed this gem somehow; i love going thru ole' *Logger * *Wade* vidja's & archives. By the way in Iraq we you to call that kinda dirt moon dust. Even tho none of us had been there be4 we still assumed that's the way it would be.
I'm pretty sure the word you are looking for is dust and it has to be just great when you need to clean the air filters on the machines almost every day
Logger Wade The beginning of this here vidja looked like you were walking on the 🌙 moon...HAHA!!.(powered clay maybe??) Then the part were you broke open a bees nest was pretty scary🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝nobody got stung, good deal. Another thumbs up of coarse for safety.👍
Dang logger wade im not used to seen u not been able to put them on the ground jk buddy its had to get back in the game when you haven't done it in a little wall keep up the good work buddy
I enjoyed the saw action, thanks.

That dirt is just like talcum powder, I have seen the same thing on a bunch of construction sites
Wade thanks for looking out for the honey bees as best you can, get with some local bee keepers to come out and relocate them when all possible.
Great video 👍 👍 We call it moon dust. We tested military stuff in it 4 feet deep. It looked like a wave of water in front of the vehicle.
We used to have dirt like that under the sheds around our tobacco barns and slide rows.
awww thats easy,,,,,all you need is 30yrs experience!! THanks for the show
We up north call it Talc. Nasty stuff when the wind blows and slicker than snot when it rains. Be safe have fun. No mud wrestling please.
Is that just a excavator with a robotic head?
And you're a good man for dealing with Steve.. reminds me of my 3 year old nephew
Oh the sweet lullaby of those new tracks!!!
that shed bark will allow for fox fire to show up on the log in a few day. go into the woods at night, log will be glowing . I've seen fox fire in Harrison County on a skinned log Karl Ferree yarded up in the woods.
When you dropped that tree it looked like the forest was collapsing around you.

great vidja as always. I bet you are glad you have those new track pads on will all that rain
I drove up to see ERICKSON AIR crane heli-logg up here in northern California. The red dirt was like that about 12 inches deep. crazy shit
I never laughed so hard " Shot to the nuts" Never a dull moment on the Logger Wade show! Be safe buddy.
KSfixitman and Steveyy's to blame he gives ruts a bad name!!!

Almost all logging job done single handed, very efficient. How much would this machine cost.
I work for a tree power line clear cutting and tree trimming company. I’d love to cut timber. Just ain’t got the money to start my own business or the equipment to do it
Some nice poplars, we got some big boys on my new track, I'll try an get some vidja
That is some mighty fine walnut you got there.
Near the end I turned the volume up to hear what Stevey was hollerin from the skid, next thing I know, BAM! WHAT's GOING ON WADE HOW YER DOIN?
Now we known where they filmed the landing on the Moon.Looks like Talc Powder, hahahaha fun shit when it gets Wet.
looks to me like a silty loam with a little clay underneath I'm thinking. clay and loam are needed to produce the good timber the silt on top explains the dust I'm thinkin

Take Care Everybody..
Cynthia Herr haha thanks cynthinator
Logger Wade yeah I'm probably gonna keep a few cans of spray on the skidder. Only real downfall of the old 518 is having no protection from that at all
Cynthia Herr the more and more I think about it the more I dread summer logging. I'll get over it though. I've only logged in winter thus far
Cynthia Herr love you Gal!!!👍👍
Love ya back..
I ain't not dirt guy but that looks like it has the same consistency of the river of slime! Be careful Ray! Stuff will suck ya in!
i missed this gem somehow; i love going thru ole' *Logger * *Wade* vidja's & archives. By the way in Iraq we you to call that kinda dirt moon dust. Even tho none of us had been there be4 we still assumed that's the way it would be.
Copy that bud thanks for watchin I mean that
@@LoggerWade everyday
I'm pretty sure the word you are looking for is dust and it has to be just great when you need to clean the air filters on the machines almost every day
That's some nice timber! Seems like you get a lot more out of the tree using the din din.
Shannon Skidgel yup especially on the big ones
Seems odd to see trees with big branches. Mostly pine and fir around here. (Southern BC)
I think u could make some biscuits with that flower ha ha
Sandy loam, mostly found around river flood zones like...... It's all over the ms delta
We get that soil condition here, in heavy clay that gets turned up. We call it MOON DUST.
14:00 I bet you decided on that day that any and all equipment shall be full cab haha.
The Metal Butcher haha
Looks like your walking on moom dirt Logger Wade on the moon logging. LoL
that saying about the weather is a Michigan saying as well lol
That is pure silt. When it gets dry it's like flour. If it had any clay it in it would be more granular. Gumbo is Silty clay.
hvy 1ton got ya thanks bud
out west we call that puff dirt that has a lot of loam in it
were I'm at it's so dry we're not aloud to work in the woods between noon and 8pm
Now we're Talkin'!👍👍
That head, pay for itself in 10 min. just in of bee stings! No frapple should be without a saw! Nice wood!
Rodney Elmer & Mountain Deer Taxidermy haha thanks bud
Walkin on,

bwilkinson6901 got ya
Logger Wade The beginning of this here vidja looked like you were walking on the 🌙 moon...HAHA!!.(powered clay maybe??)
Then the part were you broke open a bees nest was pretty scary🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝nobody got stung, good deal.
Another thumbs up of coarse for safety.👍
He sounds like tow mater.
Like walking on the moon! 😁
Like flour what we call it in East Tennessee when it's like that
Be testing out those big clean outs on the dindin
how bigs the chainsaw bar on the machine looks small on the video but it was cutting some decent size stuff
Same thing with the weather up her in Vermont
Steven Johnson I'm in vt too.
Man the dust looks like a cluster fuck lol
Puddin is runnin good eh
wade you know not to talk about the weather on a nice day it will rain then lol
Blaming Steve for cutting the camera off... man can't catch a break.
I don't think you're going to like that poplar burning in your fireplace this winter. That stuff pops incessantly. LOL
Our ground is heavy clay and it does the same thing that ground does
Looks like that lane is full of Lime
When you said "Cutting whoppers in the rain" I figured that you and Stevey would be having a farting contest. Kinda disappointed, actually.
Stevey would win farting contest 'cos he do be full of hot air n poop, haha
Dang logger wade im not used to seen u not been able to put them on the ground jk buddy its had to get back in the game when you haven't done it in a little wall keep up the good work buddy
Richard Powers boys I'm tellin ya ya get a little rusty and the feel leaves quick
Logger Wade yes sir thats the truth
Looks like ur walking on the moon
I may be a bit dense here but what was holding that big tree up until you nudged it with "dindin"?
MukyMik the hinge
What’s the reasoning of chase cutting every tree?
Whats the point of the big saw in the beginning on the machine if you're going to use a chainsaw.
Ain't big enough for those whoppers!
1:00 Looks like dirty flour
Why do you do relief cuts on a felled tree where it came off the stump? Did I even ask the question correctly?
Larry E. Quigley trimming the spurs? That's for the mill
Larry E. Quigley so it loads better, skids better, looks better. Its just the professional thing to do.
what kind of boots are they that you're wearing? Are they rubber chainsaw boots?
Hey Wade, do you take all of the timber you cut to your mill or send some to other mills?
jbmbanter our mill
How's those new track doing for ya???
Damon Hart so far I like them
good video love them
Moon dust wade..lol
It's 'glacial till'...nightmare when wet...
First man on the moon 🌓🤬🤬🤬🎥👌
Soil looks like ashes.
That is 100% TR for that
It’s looks like flour that you cook with
Please badly need advise how I can get one.
damn thems some fine sticks!! Tater
Big ole trees
This was before you bought brutis
Looks like ashes.
click bait, at first glance, thought it was "telling whoppers in the rain" wonder why?
