Also let me just say i don't really know how Finland got the most televoters votes, because if you look at the streams of various songs from this Eurovision on Spotify not only Tattoo (Sweden) beats Cha Cha Cha (Finland) with 3 times more streams, which for the sake of "the winner's song is bound to have more streams" we will ignore (even though it it was just beacuse winner then it wouldn't have THAT much of a lead) but also Quenn of Kings (Norway) got Finland beat in amount of streams. I may be Personally biased because in my opinion between Sweden and Finland it's better that Sweeden won, becaue my opinion is that whiile Finland made a better performance and the melody is cool, the singer is kinda mediocre. Blanka’s mother is connected with tv station that organizes Eurovision qualifications in Poland. Nepotism is a common practice with the current authorities😕
Blanka was also seen with the head Juror's son during the national final and another Juror is heavily involved in a lot of Blanka's choreography for her other songs, though I don't know if he choreographed for "Solo". Do two of the Jury members have, directly or indirectly, a personal connection to Blanka therefore a conflict of interest in the Jury voting but they were still in the Jury and boosted Blanka's votes up. Not to mention that the voting system was changed last minute from each televote being counted so that: 20,000 votes = 20,000 points for the competitors 10,000 = 10,000 points 1,000 = 1,000 points to 20,000 = 12 points 10,000 = 10 points 1,000 = 8 points Which meant Jann's landslide in the televotes didn't affect much as him and Blanka only had a 2 point difference. Not to mention that 4 hours ahead of the NF starting, a polish news article accidentally published an article saying Blanka won, which can make it look like Blanka was set to win no matter what. There's smaller aspects too, such as Jann allegedly having to set up his staging by himself (I think it was because he looked more androgynous but I can't remember the reason sadly), audio issues on Jann's performance and Blanka allegedly only liking comments that are shading or insulating Jann. All in all, Poland's NF for 2023 was MESSY.

It's themed on the toxic underbelly of the music industry and some have alleged that the song's narrative could be a reason for the NF somewhat screwing him over, despite him being the public favourite. It's also very different from what I've heard from Poland, being more Gothic and Hardcore, to me at least, as well as vocally more complex.
The ABBA conspiracy is a push, but Loreen getting so many points from the juries is outrageous because she didn't excel at anything. She didn't have the best song, the best vocals or the best staging, and the originality is almost non-existent. Unknown performers might not have even qualified if they showed up with that.

Jann and Käärijä both robbed, but Käärijä's loss was definitely bigger deal than Jann's, what with one being just a pre-selection and the other being the actual contest. Most people aren't even aware of the latter, but Käärijä loss caused an upset even in the arena.
As a finnish guy i will say that Jann got robbed way worse than Käärijä. Jann probably would've won the Eurovision if the Polish jury didn't screw him over. The situations are simalar (people vs jury), but Jann's case is just worse version of Käärijä's loss + Jann's loss was actually rigged.

I find it funny that people think that Eurovision is never rigged, I’m not especially talking about Loreen, but let’s be honest here that such a big competition has probably some things going behind the scenes and is not always fair.
It was confirmed last year. That's why during the jury voting, Martin Osterdahl announced the points of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and San Marino instead of someone from those countries.

You can not tell me that the competition wasn't rigged in Poland. Blanca's choreographer was one of the judges, and apparently Blanka is also dating one of other judges son, so like... Also the article about her victory was accidentally published hours before the verdict. Yes the song is quite catchy but only if you see the music video, because if you listen to the performance she did during the actual competition your ears will hurt, it's on about the same level as if you'd watch the popular girl from high school perform in a talent show without being too good at singing. Many things in Poland are extremely rigged so it's not "too controversial" and the government heavily controls certain media yet it's not talked about as often.
Im pretty sure the drama behind finland losing comes down to the fact that Loreen won again with a very similar song (because of the juries) instead of a new contestant with a new type of song. Its just boring to se the same types of songs winning again and again.

i suspect that it was because she had connections to the juries and also that the polish jury is conservative so they don't want to go with something more weird and progressive than basic pop
Romania didn't spend anything on the performance though. They had the budget but sent this 18yr old talent by himself, with his own staging and performance. Everything he wore was made by independent designers trying to promote their stuff. Theodor tried his best to please the comment sections criticizing him, by entirely changing the setting of the song, accidentally making it worse. He deserved better but nobody helped him. He only got harsh criticism all the way. It's just sad. Also, Sweden didn't deserve the win bruh. No country gave her 12 points in the televoting. Only the judges flooded her with it.

And somehow, the judges held her in the highest regard as their favorite. And it's not to bring hate towards her or anything. I believe this is the best Swedish winner since Waterloo. It's just that I'm tired of hearing the same type of songs in the top 10 over and over, especially when it comes to the winner. The last two years are an exception, and one of them is there because of the Ukrainian war; if not for it, UK would've won with the same type of standard pop song. Just like last time when Ukraine won with a war related theme over a standard pop song (was it 2016?) It's tiring and repetitive: ballads and pop. We haven't had an outlandishly unique winner since 2006 with Lordi. And every time we do get one entry like that, it's HEAVILY underrated by the judges (Moldova 2022, for example, being people's favorite except Ukraine's pity votes). I'm not saying that any of the winners are bad, or mostly undeserved (except Heroes in 2015, come on, top 2-4 were much much better and unique, and more enjoyed by the public). I'm just saying that a bit of diversity in the judges taste in music would be amazing and heavily appreciated: like how Hatari (Iceland) was the only one to give Slovenia 12 points this year. It was SUCH a breath of fresh air.

Then they allowed the pride flag in 2015, which as much for a good cause it may be, it's intrinsically a political flag of a political movement. Now they allowed Marco to bring its new redesign that represents even more political and social movements. Where do you draw the line? By allowing it they're opening the gates to every other political flag, but of course the EBU will only allow those they like and agree with. Agreed but come on, as objectively as you can judge music Cha Cha Cha was better. Sure Loreen has a superior voice but the thing is Tattoo was boring. The lyrics were average, beat and rhythm too. Finnish not only sounds super cool (in Cha Cha Cha at least) but also the beat is super hype, the lyrics (translated in English) more interesting since they tell a nice story and the song overall was super unique, unlike Tattoo

They all seemed to love average pop songs in English and therefore 90% of them gave their 12 points to Loreen. The televote, however, is composed by millions of people, that can also have a bigger musical knowledge than the jurors. And this year, those five people had a lot more power than millions of people. Yes, Loreen arrived second in the televote but with 130 points less than Käärijä. Alessandra almost received the same amount of points as her.

But the two times she won was the only times she didn't write the songs. She was sent Tatoo and knew it was going to be good when she heard it. I know the drama with Blanka coz I followed it with my friend was that she knew one of the juries in the National Finals and he gave her 12 points and gave Jann 0 to almost no points and he influenced other juries to do the same coz he works with Blanka's dad but it didn't work, and Jann ended up winning the National Finals but somehow even though the National Finals finished and Jann won he convinced the other juries to change their mind and pick Blanka and Blanka wanted him to help him she was fine with it and also her song is the spitting image or should I say spitting sound of Inna - up intro verses and chorus and people that supported her made excuses and said um? it's called sampling and others that didn't support Blanka like me called the supporters out saying sampling isn't allowed on Eurovision which is why I hated her and Poland does not respect her and Jann will always be our real winner.

Which meant Jann's landslide in the televotes didn't affect much as him and Blanka only had a 2 point difference.
Not to mention that 4 hours ahead of the NF starting, a polish news article accidentally published an article saying Blanka won, which can make it look like Blanka was set to win no matter what.
There's smaller aspects too, such as Jann allegedly having to set up his staging by himself (I think it was because he looked more androgynous but I can't remember the reason sadly), audio issues on Jann's performance and Blanka allegedly only liking comments that are shading or insulating Jann.
All in all, Poland's NF for 2023 was MESSY.

It's themed on the toxic underbelly of the music industry and some have alleged that the song's narrative could be a reason for the NF somewhat screwing him over, despite him being the public favourite. It's also very different from what I've heard from Poland, being more Gothic and Hardcore, to me at least, as well as vocally more complex.
The ABBA conspiracy is a push, but Loreen getting so many points from the juries is outrageous because she didn't excel at anything. She didn't have the best song, the best vocals or the best staging, and the originality is almost non-existent. Unknown performers might not have even qualified if they showed up with that.

I find it funny that people think that Eurovision is never rigged, I’m not especially talking about Loreen, but let’s be honest here that such a big competition has probably some things going behind the scenes and is not always fair.
It was confirmed last year. That's why during the jury voting, Martin Osterdahl announced the points of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Montenegro, Poland, Romania and San Marino instead of someone from those countries.

You can not tell me that the competition wasn't rigged in Poland. Blanca's choreographer was one of the judges, and apparently Blanka is also dating one of other judges son, so like... Also the article about her victory was accidentally published hours before the verdict. Yes the song is quite catchy but only if you see the music video, because if you listen to the performance she did during the actual competition your ears will hurt, it's on about the same level as if you'd watch the popular girl from high school perform in a talent show without being too good at singing. Many things in Poland are extremely rigged so it's not "too controversial" and the government heavily controls certain media yet it's not talked about as often.
Im pretty sure the drama behind finland losing comes down to the fact that Loreen won again with a very similar song (because of the juries) instead of a new contestant with a new type of song. Its just boring to se the same types of songs winning again and again.

Romania didn't spend anything on the performance though. They had the budget but sent this 18yr old talent by himself, with his own staging and performance. Everything he wore was made by independent designers trying to promote their stuff.

He deserved better but nobody helped him. He only got harsh criticism all the way. It's just sad.

It's just that I'm tired of hearing the same type of songs in the top 10 over and over, especially when it comes to the winner. The last two years are an exception, and one of them is there because of the Ukrainian war; if not for it, UK would've won with the same type of standard pop song. Just like last time when Ukraine won with a war related theme over a standard pop song (was it 2016?)
It's tiring and repetitive: ballads and pop. We haven't had an outlandishly unique winner since 2006 with Lordi. And every time we do get one entry like that, it's HEAVILY underrated by the judges (Moldova 2022, for example, being people's favorite except Ukraine's pity votes).
I'm not saying that any of the winners are bad, or mostly undeserved (except Heroes in 2015, come on, top 2-4 were much much better and unique, and more enjoyed by the public).
I'm just saying that a bit of diversity in the judges taste in music would be amazing and heavily appreciated: like how Hatari (Iceland) was the only one to give Slovenia 12 points this year. It was SUCH a breath of fresh air.

Finnish not only sounds super cool (in Cha Cha Cha at least) but also the beat is super hype, the lyrics (translated in English) more interesting since they tell a nice story and the song overall was super unique, unlike Tattoo

The televote, however, is composed by millions of people, that can also have a bigger musical knowledge than the jurors. And this year, those five people had a lot more power than millions of people. Yes, Loreen arrived second in the televote but with 130 points less than Käärijä. Alessandra almost received the same amount of points as her.

But the two times she won was the only times she didn't write the songs. She was sent Tatoo and knew it was going to be good when she heard it. You know she's not the first person to participate again after a win? Even more she's not the first one to win a 2nd time. For example Aleksander Rybak also participated also participated once after his win, didn't win a 2nd time though. I don't remember the person that won 2 times before right now.
Also she actually participated in the preeliminations in her country 4 times in total, she got to the Eurovision itself only 2 times, which mean they didn't let her the other 2 :)

People make a big drama, but honestly i dont care either way about the winner. I think Swedens song could've definetly been better, but i didn't really like Finlands song either. However, it's way easier to let Tattoo fade into the background when it plays on the radio than Cha Cha Cha.
