Ever wonder why countries like Germany and UK bottle it every year? Cause singers from Germany and UK see eurovision as a career-ending low-profile concert. The only countries bringing good music are the ones singing in their native language, thats why countries like Franc, Italy, ukraine, russia etc are on average very succesfull, also cause they have good selection, especially Italy that brings Sanremo winners to eurovision, putting the competition to a whole another level. But then comes sweden, with the most horrible basic pop song every year and win, thats why true artists from big countries dont go to eurovision. Sanremo itself has a much higher level of competition than eurovision(this year it sucked pretty bad tho) and is a much more important event than eurovision musically speaking, moneywise maybe not. Nope. The jury votes are the ones that matter since they know who has the most talent and other stuff. The tele votes are just people voting for the weirdest and dumbest songs ever.
There is no perfect system to decide who wins. Both the Jury and Televote system are fundamentally flawed. Juries can be bribed or just told who to vote for in some cases. The televote allows multiple calls off the same number which is wrong. It can also skew the vote towards countries with close cultural ties or large migrant communities. Greece will always vote for Cyprus and vice versa. Poland, Lithuania and Ireland will always do well out of the United Kingdom televote no matter how good/bad their song is for the same reason.
Jury voting was implemented because people complained about Televote being about people voting neighbor countries. I guess you people can’t be happy either way.
To be fair, 2019 was a tough one. Because both Keiino, Mahmood and Duncan had amazing songs. Duncan's song did amazingly well worldwide and I guess he brought Eurovision to a broader audience. BUT I do still think that Keiino was done as dirty as Käärijä was this year
