@@James42_ yeah not bad. You can customise brightness on the secondary display to help out. I can get a couple of hours of reasonable use out of it. I mainly use it on mains but battery still seems pretty good.
My two cents: Been using my Zenbook Duo UX481 (the smaller model without the raised screen, lower specs etc.) for about 15 months now and it's been mostly pretty good. The tools and functions on the 2nd display seem to get jankier with each windows update and I often get bugs with it that require turning the second display off and on again. not unusable just a little annoying. It was great when I was studying, was using it for 3D modelling, Sculpting, and Photoshop mainly. Now I work from home and use my desktop for work the second screen sees very little use when I'm just using it for internet browsing. I wish the second display were brighter or popped up like the model in thjs video as there's just too much glare unless you prop it up. Also the finish is a total scratch and finger print magnet Oh and if you use a graphics tablet you'll probably never use the pen
If this existed when i was in college I'd be a doctor. I can only imagine how nice taking notes on that thing would be. Like i can type pretty quick but i can concentrate more on other things with handwriting.
Honestly if it weren't for what I expect to be an insane price I could see this as a perfect mobile music production unit. Keep midi instruments and samples below and all the main work on the main display. Super want
Without even watching the whole video yet, that has to be the best MMO laptop made. A second built in screen for all your mmo insiders website and UA-cam while gaming on the main screen. 👍
It was literally made for that. no one demanded a second screen for google maps, as far as I am aware (I do apologize if I am wrong). This is basically a streamers laptop.
This is kinda was piqued my interest. I'm so used to multiple monitors, that trying to write my thesis with just one has been a nightmare. Digital journals to reference but trying to write.
Do your homework on that model. I had the duo zephyrus last year and while it was very cool, I just never used that second screen like I thought I would. It also places the display further back away from you that was something else I didn't like. Very cool laptop, but it wasn't practical for what I needed and there are not that many apps for the second screen at least there wasn't when I owned the ASUS Zephyrus.
I've been loving it every day for almost a year, however I will let you know right now, the UX582 has a ton of sub models so you need to know EXACTLY what you are looking for. May displays, many cpus, many gpus. It's chaotic. For example mine is 4k 60hz, 10th Gen i9, 3070 32gb ram. They make 11th Gen and 12th Gen cpu ones, 3050ti,3060,3070,3080. 16 and 32gb ram, and 500gb/1tb ssds. It's very very very messy
That thing is amazing I like the secondary display, I like when this companies try new features like that different positioning of the touch pad, LOVE IT!
I own the duo 15" after the first week of using the TouchPad on the right I can no longer see the point if it being in the center, feels intuitive not to have to reach one's are around and just use it more like a mouse. Mad props to asus.
If you think about, the zen book duo is actual useful because if you want to run dual monitors and have limited space or just want to screens in generally then you have the option because this thing has two screens. All in all more companies should do this.
1 1/2 screens at best if we consider a small notebook screen even as a proper screen at all. And no, the position make the screen useful as oversized, ugly touchbar or probably for drawing, thats it.
For a laptop aimed at artists/creative types, it's odd that you can't flip the screen to the back and use it like drawing on a tablet. As someone who draws, I can't lean on this screen like I would a drawing pad, since it would just fall over.
this would be the ultimate upgrade for doing work if your needing to get more done faster and just imagine taking it to like your job or Buddys place and having everything you need available that instant like thats just so cool.
Yashuop's channel is super sketchy. Channel is 1 yr old with over 500k subs. Channel has lots of gameplay vids but all have about 500 views, no matter how new or old. Very strange...
I have this laptop and it’s the perfect tool for me. I needed a laptop that can take heavy duty work for Uni (Games Design major). The touchscreens allow me to use it as a drawing tool as well and the extra screen is really nice for looking at references and multitasking better while I work
its not that expensive its on the lower end of laptops, especially for these high specs. Its great bang for your buck. I searched around a bit on google and found this laptop under $1200.
I use this laptop currently. I NEVER use the second screen LOL. it’s so awkward to use comfortably. I love the machine and how it performs, but I WOULD NOT recommend if the second screen is what you’re wanting it for.
But... but... thatsthe major seeling point. You're telling me you never throw up UA-cam/podcast on the lower while keeping the main screen for work?? TBF I cant with my area of work/attention span, but I'm sure some would find it immensely useful
@@hmg9194 Well, yes. In certain circumstances it is useful to throw something on as a reference or to casual watch. For my personal workflow it just doesn't get much use. When I'm editing on the go, It's easier to just use the main screen. When I'm home, I use a big second monitor and use my laptop main screen as a second screen. I suppose if you're ONLY using this device by itself you would find the second screen immensely useful. Don't get me wrong, it's a super cool responsive screen! Their updating the software constantly and the features are getting REALLY good, so I'm not a total hater of it hehe
I've had the bigger version since it came out last year, I can't go back to a single screen. My work flow consists of looking one thing and typing on other and then sharing details across screens etc etc and I'll upgrade to the next duo next year.
I've got the ux582 and use my second screen all the time. Will game up top, and have discord and other pages open on the bottom. Then film editing, adobe controls down below. It's a game changer
wonder if it should go even bolder, ditching the touchpad all together. that way you reclaim full size keyboard, and optionally fire up a 'soft touchpad' at quarter right side of secondary screen.
Another amazing Asus laptop. As with the recent 14X OLED Space Edition and past models like the Duo 14 w/32GB, it seems availability is always an issue with the best Asus products. Does anyone know the release date on this one and what online shop to buy from early on?

What he forgot to say since he got paid for a positive Review: - battery runtime basically sucks - performance is dropping extremely on battery - the sound... its amazing how hard you can advertise silent fans as manufacturer which Asus loves, but still deliver a jet engine at not even full load. - The build quality is ok, but not close to anything really good. - The position of keyboard is at best.. UNPRACTICAL AS FK! - The OLED screen tend to burn in very easy if you use often/long full brighness and static content Sooo, you still want this e-waste for a high premium?

exactly ! but I genuinely love that asus are not following what the other big brands are doing .... they coming up with something which is what I love to see. I'm definitely going to bring it over on my channel so that I can review it.
I use a second monitor connected to my laptop all the time, and i use it for mostly 3d modeling. The software that i use can open up multiple windows in which you can do different stuff. But also think of the file explorer if you have to import or export lots of files. Or if you have to open up a picture to use as refence for the object you're modeling. When I'm on the go I'm not even used to one single display anymore. It's stuck in my workflow. So therefore a small extra one below is perfect for me while I'm on the go. But even when i have my second monitor connected i sometimes like to have a third one. Think of your 3D scene in the main screen, your material/texture editor on the second monitor and reference images in the small display. Instead of making smaller windows on my laptop or second monitor. Let's say that this is a good buy for artists, video editors, programmers, or any other people that like to work with multiple displays. But if you never really need more then one displays then i can imagine that it's not worth it.
As a pen tester this laptop looks really fucking handy. Having the secondary screens means you can have a couple terminals running down there without consuming any screen space...nice
Wow this is awesome to creators.. but it looks like screen is smaller and also deeper underneath the second display. But overall versatility is a way better than the previous dual screen versions.
I’ve got the 1.0. Pros: resolution, speed, multi-display Cons: Battery life is horrible, speakers are horrible and it’s virtually impossible to have it rest on my thighs bc there’s no flat surface. The sharp edge of the display sits right on the thighs. This 2.0 looks to be much more comfy (flat surface), sounds better and hopefully the battery life is better. If I’d known, I would’ve waited for this one
I'm a web developer and i believe it's a huge benefit to have 2 screens and i also play games and ...... It's a great laptop and about the battery well you can adjust the setting and get several hours battery life
This almost feels like going to an external or dual monitor setup. At least for me, I used to work exclusively off my laptop and didn’t think I needed another monitor, and then I used 2 monitors at work and after that I bought an external monitor and use it with my laptop open all the time. Like you’ll find ways to make it productive for you even if you’re not necessarily doing photoshop and stuff
Yup, this is way better than external monitor (unless you need the full screen, since this is only half). External takes up more space to pack, need to bring extra cables, power supply, more time to set up, takes up more desk space, etc. It's a pain. This laptop is perfect for staying mobile with maximum productivity
So I can only use my left hand..... I have cerebral palsy on my right side. I LOVE the way this looks, buyt I wish there was a model with the trackpad on the left. @@James42_ yeah not bad. You can customise brightness on the secondary display to help out. I can get a couple of hours of reasonable use out of it. I mainly use it on mains but battery still seems pretty good.
they need to release a 17" model of this amazing laptop, wow
Well, the price'd be insane for me to even buy it though. It'd stay at window shopping & wishing.

Also the finish is a total scratch and finger print magnet
Oh and if you use a graphics tablet you'll probably never use the pen
Love watching your reviews and unboxing, so entertaining for me
If this existed when i was in college I'd be a doctor.

That’s what I was thinking too 😍
It was literally made for that. no one demanded a second screen for google maps, as far as I am aware (I do apologize if I am wrong). This is basically a streamers laptop.

Omg!!! I gave been searching for a laptop for the past few weeks. Up to this morning. Thank you for reviewing this. This may be it!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽
Do your homework on that model.
@@oneupkoopa4980 your honesty is appreciated
I've been loving it every day for almost a year, however I will let you know right now, the UX582 has a ton of sub models so you need to know EXACTLY what you are looking for. May displays, many cpus, many gpus. It's chaotic.
For example mine is 4k 60hz, 10th Gen i9, 3070 32gb ram.
They make 11th Gen and 12th Gen cpu ones, 3050ti,3060,3070,3080. 16 and 32gb ram, and 500gb/1tb ssds.
It's very very very messy

It's duo screen for 3 years. Stay up to date mate.
I own the duo 15" after the first week of using the TouchPad on the right I can no longer see the point if it being in the center, feels intuitive not to have to reach one's are around and just use it more like a mouse. Mad props to asus.
Was part of the Event Stream was fun and very Interesting thanks Lew and Team.
If you think about, the zen book duo is actual useful because if you want to run dual monitors and have limited space or just want to screens in generally then you have the option because this thing has two screens. All in all more companies should do this.
Facts!
1 1/2 screens at best if we consider a small notebook screen even as a proper screen at all.
And no, the position make the screen useful as oversized, ugly touchbar or probably for drawing, thats it.
That live stream was a train wreck , and soo funny. Luckily you've got a release the way it should be. They owe you Lew
what happened?
For a laptop aimed at artists/creative types, it's odd that you can't flip the screen to the back and use it like drawing on a tablet. As someone who draws, I can't lean on this screen like I would a drawing pad, since it would just fall over.
this would be the ultimate upgrade for doing work if your needing to get more done faster and just imagine taking it to like your job or Buddys place and having everything you need available that instant like thats just so cool.

The lack of a palm rest is what kills this product for me. Take your laptop, put it on your lap, and try typing where the palm rest is. It’s a very uncomfortable experience; at least for me. - battery runtime basically sucks
- performance is dropping extremely on battery
- the sound... its amazing how hard you can advertise silent fans as manufacturer which Asus loves, but still deliver a jet engine at not even full load.
- The build quality is ok, but not close to anything really good.
- The position of keyboard is at best.. UNPRACTICAL AS FK!
- The OLED screen tend to burn in very easy if you use often/long full brighness and static content

having haptic feedback on that secondry screen would be awesome
Lue is right this is one of those things that has a lot of potential use cases cause you can increase your efficiency just by finding a productive way for the 2nd screen display
exactly ! but I genuinely love that asus are not following what the other big brands are doing .... they coming up with something which is what I love to see.
