My first recumbent trike ride was amazing. I loved it. That's exactly what I told my family, I felt like a kid riding a go kart. Probably the most dangerous place to ride a recumbent trike is in a parking lot or anywhere where stationary car(s) are in between you and any moving cars. Since the parked car is taller than you, not only can't moving cars see you, you can't see them either. I would not put my full confidence in the fact that I have a flag either. I experienced this firsthand when I was test riding in a parking lot. So as long as you are aware of this and ride defensively, you'll be OK
My ICE Adventure HD 26 RS is helping me gain my life back after nine spine surgeries. It is an incredibly built trike that's super comfortable to ride. Great low impact exercise while helping to build your core muscles.
On your HD, did you get full suspension or rigid? I have located a 2020 model for sale at a fair price but it is rigid and I’m wondering because I have spinal issues and a bad hip.
@@yvonnelives I have rear suspension (RS). I would take it for a test ride. The ICE trikes transfers less vibration to the rider than another trike I tested without any suspension due to the build quality.
Great video. The best I've found on some new (for me) technology. I've been riding recumbents for about 6 or 7 years now. Started with an Ice trike, then went to my current Grasshopper with underseat steering. Next bike will be the retirement bike and I've very interested in the new ride assist type accessories.

The V brake in the rear is just for parking? The hand levers are just for the front wheels? Is the battery quick change? Could I carry two for longer rides?
Yes, the rear brake should only be used for parking. The hand levers are for the brakes on the front wheels. Shimano does make a 4A charger that will charge more quickly. You can bring two or more batteries if you wish!
Are there any videos showing how to transport these trikes by car? rather than investing in a carrier for the car. I have seen plenty of videos on why I should ride a trike, but nothing on how to get it to where it can be ridden safely..
I believe ICE has a good video on how to fold the Adventure for transport. However, I don't fold mine as I have an SUV - I simply lift the rear wheel into the back, then lift up the front and wheel the rear wheel in between the drive and passenger seat. We also have carriers for the back of your vehicle if you prefer not to put it inside.
Thanks for your high knowledge and good explanation, if you would like you I think you can talk a little shower and also a little slower with the camera filming. Thanks
I am a HPV Scorpion trike rider from Australia and would love an ICE trike one day? Also love your Speed/Grade overlays on your video! Any chance of divulging the source of these?
Hello, I am writing from Mustafa Tünkiye, I learned a lot of useful information from you. No Trike in Turkey trying to make their own possibility to me. Is there any advice you can give me, how did you make your seat? Note: I am using translation.
A Recumbent goes faster then a "normal" bicycle, even a race bicycle. Because the wind do not catch you as much. I own a 2 wheels recumbent without a motor and that thing goes fast. I live in The Netherlands, where you also have save area's to ride. I do not like to ride in a big city with much traffic, your view in front of you is very good, even better then on a "normal" bicycle, but behind you or next to you is not nice. Always had a mirror. You hard to notice for other traffic because you are so low. A flag is sure a good thing. A recumbent is nice in quit enveriment. There is not much difference in a trike or two wheel in that recard.
The extra top rack is optional, and is useful for bringing a trunk bag along. You can check out the pictures on our website for examples without the top rack: citruscycles.ca/ice-adventure-electric-recumbent-trike Check out the second video on that page for a video without the top rack. The battery mount is in the perfect position - low and in the centre of the bike. This improves the handling. We really try to avoid rack mount batteries when possible.
Trikes very easily fit in cycle lanes as trikes don't take up anymore room on the road than a bike. It seems counter-intuitive, but If you measure the width of your handlebars on your bike and add a bit for safety, it will be just as wide, if not wider than the width of the trike! The benefit of the trike is motorists can easily see how much room you need on the road. Often on bikes they incorrectly assume you only need the 2" that your tires take up on the pavement, which isn't true!
@@CitrusCycles You have sold me on trikes, will get one when I have the cash for touring as an alternative to the kona sutra tourer. Would it be good idea to get one with suspension or are they fine without it?
@@DemiGod.. The suspension does make a big difference for comfort and safety - you don't have to swerve to avoid rough pavement, and it makes longer rides much more comfortable.
@@CitrusCycles I see, probably look for the same setup as my touring and endurance bicycles, polymer suspension on the back, none on the front, the front taking care of itself with a light grip.
