    Thanks for the video! I have a 29 gallon tank with 6 albino Cory cats and 4 endlers … how many Bolivian Rams could I add and should they be male and female or it doesn’t matter?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  7 місяців тому

      In a 29-gallon tank with Albino Cory Cats and Endlers, adding a pair of Bolivian Rams would be a suitable choice. These cichlids appreciate having their own territory, and a pair tends to work well without excessive aggression. Whether you choose male and female or two females depends on your preference. Keep an eye on their interactions and provide plenty of hiding spots to minimize potential territorial issues. A well-structured tank with diverse hiding spots and territories can create a harmonious environment for your fish.

      That's great to hear that you love your Bolivian Rams! Just a friendly note, while Bolivian Rams can generally be peaceful, they might not be an ideal tank mate for a Ghost Knife Fish in the long term. Ghost Knives can grow quite large and are typically more nocturnal, which might not match the Rams' behavior. It's essential to ensure all your fish are compatible and have suitable tank conditions.

      @AquaWorldInfo  10 місяців тому

      @TasHikingAdventures Ghost Knives are generally peaceful but can be sensitive to tank mates. You've had success with Angel Fish before, which can be a good choice due to their similar peaceful temperament. However, remember to ensure the tank size is sufficient, provide plenty of hiding spots, and monitor their interactions to prevent any potential aggression. As always, compatibility can vary among individual fish, so careful observation is key.

    I have 5 Bolivian Rams in a 110L tank this was meant to be a holding tank until my 250L was properly cycled but a pair have bred and now I'm terrified the others will attack the spawning area before I can get too my fish with the 3 Bolian spares. Any advice please?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому +2

      It sounds like you are in a difficult situation with your Bolivian Rams. In general, it's not uncommon for fish to become territorial or aggressive when breeding, and this can lead to problems with other fish in the tank.
      One option you might consider is separating the breeding pair from the other fish in the tank. This can be done by using a breeding tank or a tank divider to create a separate space for the pair. This will allow them to focus on breeding without being disturbed by the other fish, and will also help to protect the eggs or fry from being attacked by the other fish.
      If separating the breeding pair is not an option, you could try rearranging the decor in the tank to create more hiding places and territory for the other fish. This might help to reduce the risk of aggression and give the other fish more places to escape to if they are being bullied.
      You should also make sure to keep an eye on the tank and the behavior of the fish, and intervene if necessary to prevent any serious aggression or injury. If you are concerned about the safety of the fish, you may want to consider seeking the help of a local fish store or a professional aquarist for further advice and assistance.

    Can these be in the same tank with Black Devil Ramirezi? Or Electric blue ram/ German blue ram?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  7 місяців тому

      While Bolivian Rams (Mikrogeophagus altispinosus) are generally peaceful, introducing them to a tank with more aggressive cichlids like Black Devil Ramirezi, Electric Blue Ram, or German Blue Ram could lead to territorial disputes. Mixing cichlid species requires careful consideration of individual temperaments, tank size, and providing sufficient hiding spots to reduce aggression. It's advisable to monitor their interactions closely and be prepared to separate them if aggressive behavior occurs. Each cichlid species may have different preferences and behaviors, so introducing them gradually and monitoring their interactions is crucial for a harmonious community tank.

    Hi, I have 6 Bolivian Rams in a 65g tank it's well planted and has spawning areas and bog wood I'm only now after watching this video I need too raise the temperature, I doo a 30% water change every week cos its a big tank am i doing enough or should I do a small one midweek. ? Love this video thank you.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому +1

      Thank you.
      It is generally recommended to do a water change of at least 25-30% once a week for a 65-gallon tank to maintain good water quality for your Bolivian Rams. However, as you mentioned that you have spawning areas and bog wood in the tank, it is important to be mindful that these types of decor can lead to the accumulation of waste and debris, so it may be beneficial to add a midweek water change of around 10-15% to help keep the water clean.
      As for raising the temperature, the ideal temperature range for Bolivian Rams is between 78-82°F (25.5-27.7°C). So, you can use a aquarium heater to adjust the temperature, but make sure to monitor it and not to overheat it.

      if it's well planted you should be doing water changes when your test kit says so. My 55 gallon is 96% stocked according to aqua advisor and it's so well planted that I only have to do water changes maybe once a month because the plants literally take care of the nitrates for me.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  6 місяців тому

      In a heavily planted 20-gallon tank with ample hiding places, having two male Bolivian Rams could potentially lead to territorial disputes as they establish their territories. However, with enough hiding spots and visual barriers, aggression may be minimized. Keep a close eye on their behavior for any signs of aggression, such as chasing or fin nipping. If aggression becomes problematic, separating them into individual tanks may be necessary. Additionally, consider introducing more females or a mix of sexes to help diffuse aggression and provide a more balanced social dynamic.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  7 місяців тому +1

      A single Bolivian Ram can thrive in a community tank with other fish. They are generally peaceful cichlids and can coexist well with a variety of tankmates. However, ensure that the other fish in the community are compatible in terms of size, temperament, and water parameter preferences. Providing sufficient hiding spots and territories can help reduce potential conflicts. If you decide to keep more than one Bolivian Ram, be cautious about having multiple males in the same tank, as they can become territorial. Monitoring their interactions and maintaining a well-balanced community tank should contribute to a harmonious environment.

    What to feed them to get their stunning colour??

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому +1

      Bolivian rams are a species of fish that are native to the Amazon River basin in South America. They are known for their bright colors, which can range from shades of blue and green to orange and red. In order to help maintain their vibrant colors, it is important to provide them with a varied and nutritious diet that includes high-quality flakes or pellets, as well as live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and bloodworms.
      In addition to a varied diet, it is also important to maintain good water quality in the tank. This includes keeping the pH level within the proper range, as well as maintaining the proper levels of ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. By providing a healthy environment and a nutritious diet, you can help to keep your Bolivian rams looking their best.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому +1

      Bolivian Ram cichlids and German Blue Ram cichlids are both peaceful and popular species in the aquarium hobby. However, it's important to note that they have different care requirements and preferences, and may not be the best tank mates for each other.
      Bolivian Rams are generally hardier and more adaptable to a wider range of water conditions, while German Blue Rams are more sensitive to water quality and temperature fluctuations. In addition, they have different temperament and territorial needs. Bolivian Rams tend to be more peaceful and less aggressive towards tank mates, while German Blue Rams can be more territorial and may become aggressive towards other fish, particularly during breeding season.
      It's possible to keep Bolivian Rams and German Blue Rams together in a large enough aquarium with plenty of hiding places and territories, but it's important to closely monitor their behavior and make sure that they are not stressing each other out or engaging in aggressive behavior.

    How old are they usually when they begin too breed ?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому +2

      Bolivian Ram Cichlids generally reach sexual maturity at around 6 to 8 months of age. However, breeding may not begin until they are around 1 year old. It's important to note that the breeding age of fish can vary depending on factors such as the water temperature, diet, and overall health of the fish.
      It's also worth mentioning that Bolivian Ram Cichlids are known to form monogamous pairs and can be quite selective when it comes to choosing their mates. It's best to keep them in pairs or small groups, and provide them with plenty of hiding spots and plants to create a comfortable and natural environment for breeding.

      • Apistogramma cichlids: These small, peaceful cichlids also make great tank mates for Bolivian Rams.
      • Discus fish: These large, peaceful fish can be kept with Bolivian Rams if the tank is large enough.
      • Angelfish: These large, peaceful fish can also be kept with Bolivian Rams if the tank is large enough.
      • Hatchetfish: These small, peaceful fish are active swimmers and can be kept with Bolivian Rams.
      • Ghost shrimp: these are peaceful and can be kept with Bolivian Rams.
      • Cherry shrimp: These are peaceful and can be kept with Bolivian Rams.
      It's important to note that some species of fish that are not compatible with Bolivian Rams include:
      • Aggressive cichlids such as Texas cichlids, African cichlids, or Jack Dempseys.
      • Large or aggressive fish such as Oscars or Pacu.
      • Fin nippers such as Tiger barbs or Serpae tetras.
      It's also important to note that compatibility can vary depending on the specific tank setup, water chemistry, and the personalities of the individual fish. It's always best to introduce new fish slowly and observe their interactions before adding more.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo  Рік тому +1

      Breeding fish can be a challenging but rewarding hobby. There are several things you can try to improve your chances of success:
      Make sure your fish are healthy and well-fed. A healthy diet is important for successful breeding.
      Provide the right environment for breeding. This includes creating a suitable spawning area (such as a flat rock or piece of PVC pipe) and maintaining the proper water conditions (such as the right temperature and pH).
      Make sure your fish are sexually mature and ready to breed. Bolivian rams typically reach sexual maturity at about 6-8 months of age.
      Consider the ratio of males to females. It's generally recommended to have at least two females for every male to prevent overly aggressive behavior.
      Be patient. Breeding fish can take time and may not always be successful. It can be helpful to observe your fish and their behavior to get a better understanding of what they need.
      I hope this helps! If you have any specific questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.
