Richard has actually been in the band longer than slash has been.
JWZ Baia seriously?
max Vicious yes.
max Vicious Yeah, Izzy was there 6 years, Slash around 10, Gilby 3, Paul 8 etc, Richard nearly 16 years
Richard is more the MAIN gutarist
Pek Vek He's rhythm guitar with the occasional lead just like Izzy and Gilby. No such thing as 'main' There are lead parts, fill, rhythm, additional etc. No one is main. One guitar on a song is one colour in a painting. Part of the whole picture. He's playing Izzy's parts on all the AFD, Lies and Illusion stuff as did Gilby.
What a cool dude. "I'm in a hurry, but, hey, you GOTTA hear this guitar. Oh, and check this pedal out!". And then goes out and rocks 25,000 people.
What a lovely guy, really enthusiastic about the interview and his gear!
I have the same opinion. He seems a pretty fucking good guy all around. No rush and always explaing every single detail about his gear.
I agree.
it's great to see someone so genuinely enthusiastic about their gear.
I think Fortus is the most complete Guns guitarist to date. . .
Richard is the best. Been one of my favorite players for a long time.
7:30 you know your in a rock band when that is your clean sound!
Ye for reals man!😂
Saw GN'R in Stockholm last week. They sounded great and Richard's playing was a huge positive surprise having never heard him before. Seems like a cool dude as well, thumbs up!
Simon Ingebrand Saw them in Finland and had the same reaction.
He is a cool guy.
Rendy Andrian yup
Richard is an incredible player and he and Slash really work well together, he may not be a household name like Slash is but he is just as talented and seems like a really cool guy. That second Scalla (spell?) Les Paul he plugged is awesome.
Exactly. But personally, I feel Slash's laying more, Richard is fantastic, but I just don't feel his stuff.
Scala
Saw them at Slane Castle in May. They were incredible!
I'm a huge fan of Slash but man, this guy is a beast!!
God i love richard fortus now
Richard seems like such a cool and down to earth guy, and the interviewer was great too, seemed just as knowledgeable and into the gear as Richard
omg he is such a nice guy
Richard is like a kid in a candy store, perfect choice to play with GNR. Great player as well!
all right, alll right all right all right
We should stop listening to Outkast before the show ua-cam.com/video/8qMtsir0l9k/v-deo.html //Philipp
What about MR. SLASH? @Thomman
Thomann Music man you guys are legends!
Ain't it funny how it happens people like you are annoying🖕🖕🖕 fck off
infoowetrust yeah, the guy is probably just nervous
This dude is so underrated!
It’s always amazing when the actual artist does his own run-down! You get so much more enthusiasm and history when it’s them talking about their own gear. This guy is also every bit as good of a guitar player as Slash... well... at least from a technical standpoint!
Incredible guitarist and down right genuine person. Deserves the gig!
I love Richard, he was enthusiastic when he was playing at the Forum the other day. Spinning around in circles and running all over the stage while playing his guitar ":>
That's what I call a down to earth rock star. Nice guy! Tons of talent.
Wow. I love this guy, he is a talented guy and love what he does... He is kind too from what we can see in the video!
Sean Penn + Ron Wood + Rod Stewart = Richard Fortus
Theodore Moore no , Sean penn and Trent reznor . Whatever , he is extremely hot
He’s more like an emo Josh Homme mixed with Izzy Stradlin
Virgil Lewis plus gilby clarck
Add some steve stevens
Looks very like the actor Adrien Brody
Gotta say, I really like the current lineup of Guns N' Roses. (Even though I'm still not sure what Melissa is doing). Fortus and Slash are really playing well together. All we need is Adler back and it would be golden
Cass - Melissa is soooo rad
Matt ,Steve could never do it . Melissa does backing sound ,keys,, background vocals
I was gonna say, the drums are weak. Melissa is useless, Dizzy Reed is the herpes GnR could never get rid off. But Fortus is great! Love seeing him play solos.
@@jjbast Melisa is great, guns n roses uses a lot more background effects/backing tracks than most would probably realize, she also helps Axl a lot with his higher backing vocals which definitely fills it out nicely live. And nothing against Dizzy, hes a great pianist. Frank is unfortunately nothing to write home about, seems like a cool guy though.
@zaynekvam9404 She is useless with her DJ setup. During UYI, Guns had backing vocals who were actual musicians. Remember Roberta?
Richard Fortus is the man! Style, tone and sweet melodic phrasing! As a bonus he seem like a cool guy with no ego to boot. Not to mention I like all his gear!
So nice He always gives interviews
Cool guy! Got to see GNR on this tour, and his playing is incredible!
He’s always just an awesome guy to be interviewed.
Really enjoyed the video, I first became aware of Richard's fantastic playing when he was with Ashba and Bumblefoot in a previous Gn'R version... great player, loved the insight into his rig. Thanks gentlemen!
sumed same
Ritchard seems to be a really nice guy and sure knows a lot about his stuff! Great tones and great video !!
Legend. What’s great interview. Can tell he is a guitar nerd and making the time is awesome. Such a versatile player
I just got inspired to rehearse , seing a humble guitarist playing like this with gear like this makes me wanna continue to play
Richard is a good dude. Proud of what he does and a mesmerizing player.
I saw him in concert a week ago in Copenhagen :)
This guy hit the jackpot!
Great guitarist with an awesome stage presence!!!
DAMN, Richard is Pretty Fucking GOOD'!!!!! He Should Join a Band. 😆
This is one of the best rig rundowns I've seen in some time, I love it when the artist does it himself! Great job and awesome guitars and equipment not the run of the mill gear. Great playing Richard Fortus!
Great guy, brilliant player and very underrated. His picking style is so accurate and his live sound is truly awesome.
THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY THANK YOU THOMANN
You're very welcome :) //Philipp
7:30 "This is my clean sound..." Almost deafened me!
nothing sounds like a crunchy Gretsch. love it.
Saw them in Madrid, great tone and superb playing. Super clean technic, all the notes cut through in a incredible natural way. Then we have Slash that makes magic especially with 57 Goldtop :)
Richard Fortus reminds of guys that I used to play with we could talk for hours we learned so much from each other . the room would be empty but before long the room filled up with people saying come Roy sing come on guys jam for us. man we had so much fun sadly our drummer Died you know it was never the same.
Fortus is such a cool guy. Makes me appreciate what he does so much more!
Richard Fortus is cool guitar player and really nice guy..!
The fact that he himself is showing us his rig and his passionate way about it is super cool!
I'm amazed by the way Richard Fortus seens to be a very cool guy. He take a few notes to make you down by the technique ane agressive feeling way. Save Fortus!
Man... that white falcon... 😍😍😍😍
I was at that concert and they were amazing.
Even though the weather wasn´t.
He should get more solo exposures. He deserves it.
Oh man that white falcon .....aaaah I could get a loan
Really cool !!! What a pleasure to meet all the instruments he uses in his Guns n 'Roses show, thank you all the team at Thomann Music, greetings from Portugal! #4tus #ThomannMusic #LoveRichardFortus
lovely guy and underrated amazing player
the hair is the true rock god here!!
love this guy
Nice! Thanks for getting this one Kris.
Richard is brilliant.
What I'm really interested in is how he's changed his rig over his years with GN'R - he's played with some guitarists who have very different tones (Finck, Ashba, Buckethead, Slash, Bumblefoot) - so how has he changed his tone to work alongside theirs?
Way under rated ! Incredible player !
Richard is a top notch guy!! 🎸👍🤟
that tone!!!
Really enjoyed my 17mins of time, guns and roses is huge name and well represented by a true technician. I’m looking forward to 2021 when g&r tours again
I really like Richard on GN'R's guitar, It's a cool guy, and mostly because he looks a lot like Izzy young!!! HAHAHAHAHA
That was awesome! Thanks!
Great guy and great musician!
Such a cool dude...and I prefer his playing over Slash's....and he plays a Falcon...what's not to love?
See them next Wednesday. Can't wait to see them !
Top interview, well done. Extremely interesting
Thanks James :)
great guy
Vielen Dank, Tim :) //Philipp
Na endlich macht Thomann mal vernünftige (in dem Fall ein sehr geiles) Videos! Wurde auch Zeit für den größten Shop ;-) Keep up the good work.
What a fantastic live rig….🙏🏻
Now what exactly does venting the cap of these guitars do to the sound….?
I understand if it is chambered to make it lighter….! But you must like the way these guitar sound you have several I was just wondering what that vented top does exactly…???
Professor Jeff Galey 🎵🎸🪕🎶🎹🎓
My mouth is watering right now
Cool guy, awesome guitarist!!!
This guy is one hell of a player.
I like this guy
he is amazing
Good job interviewing yourself Richard
I'd love a Tonex profile of that 73's Marshall! Please Richard :P
What's the difference between Gretsch and other conventional guitars like Gibson or Fender? What aspect of their tone sets them apart? I've always been curious about this brand but I think it might be better to play it safe and get a strat which is what I'm used to playing.
Holy shit! He looks reminiscent of an 80's era Malcolm Young while holding that white falcon
seems like a really cool dude down to earth
Aguante Richard desde Argentina !Ash Lp Style es hermosa !
I am not much into GnR, but this is guy is a fucking great player and a total gearhead.
Cool rig rundown interview he seems like a real cool dude, it's the first time I've heard him speak! 😂 LOL Mark UK
Was the fat tone from Richard in Chinese democracy album? I know a few had bucket, I didn’t care much, but the slower tone sounded sexy. Someone let me know.
Thank you
Even tho he is not izzy i like him a lot he seems a nice guy
What is the model of these paul oranges?
please tell me there's a slash one coming!
Espetáculo!
What a fucking cool dude.
Richard is almost too cool for this world. :-D Such a great guy. //cheers, Kris
Interview Axl plz! wow seems like Richard is the interview leading guy for the band
R. Fortis is quite an impressive all around monster player. In GNR he’s hired to support Slash. In some ways he’s much more of a sophisticated player, IMHO.
It would be so cool, if you guys could do a, rig rundown of the danish rock band, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy
sean penn play guitar?
