  • Scott Foster, a 35-year old accountant "emergency goalie" stars in his NHL debut for the Chicago Blackhawks. Foster is part of a crew of recreational goaltenders who staff Chicago's home games in case of emergencies for either team. Foster was pressed into action when Chicago lost Anton Forsberg and Collin Delia to injuries, and the former college goalie stopped all seven shots he faced over the final 14 minutes of the Blackhawks' 6-2 victory over the playoff-bound Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.

    I'm watching this in Lithuania. Damn you were good. The goalie is alone against a thundering herd who wishes to smash the puck through your front teeth if need be. Alone you were a rock solid wall. Your not just an accountant, your an NHL goalie for a good team. Stand tall.

    I've never watched a hockey game in my life, but have sat here and watched his highlights ten times. Humble and there to get a job done. Nicely done, Mr. Foster.

      Delie got the win, and is on a pro contract that pays him a very nice chunk of change. All Foster ever is gonna get is whatever he gets out of the fame and exposure from the game.

    And these emergency goalies are probably the one people who have their name on many team jerseys. it amazes me how fast then can get a jersey prepped for them during a game

    • @andrewbowman2976
      @andrewbowman2976 6 років тому +3

      Some teams do emergency goalie tryouts every year or so so they might get their jersey at the beginning of the season and never wear it

    • @04AirForceRam
      @04AirForceRam 6 років тому +1

      The shop at the UC also can make jerseys pretty quickly if I a rush. So they can have one made with name and number in maybe 15 minutes or less.

    I don't get it. Does he travel with the team? Is he an accountant for the organization? How can he have a 9-5 job if he travels with the team for 82 game season? Does he just attend home games? Does he attend practice with the team during the days? NHL has brutal travel season. This story has a lot of holes in it.

    • @yemadjames1274
      @yemadjames1274 6 років тому

      More I think about this story, it seems like shameless pr stunt by the NHL. How can a player be part time player and have a full time job? If he was part of the team he would get preseason action at least. Don't believe this guy is coming a beer league into live action in NHL.

    • @shadowknight9145
      @shadowknight9145 6 років тому +20

      He is an emergency backup goalie, there for either team in case a team needs a goalie to dress. He does not travel with the team, each team has someone like this at all their home games just in case, he does not practice with the team

    • @shadowknight9145
      @shadowknight9145 6 років тому +13

      He isn’t actually on the team either, he is just there every home game, sitting in the press box, always ready just in case for rare occasions like this, he needs to suit up and play. This guy does play adult hockey, but never played any high level before

    • @ttss5726
      @ttss5726 6 років тому +1

      By high level you're referring to NHL. Might want to take a look at the level he does play this cause the leagues he is in have a lot of us Olympics players and NFL players.

    • @andrewwilken9725
      @andrewwilken9725 6 років тому

      Tt Ss right. The guy is clearly a very good goalie, playing in men’s leagues with a lot of talent.
