I couldnt fuckin believe it when Murray got hurt at the beginning of the season... At this point it aint funny anymore and even as a Montreal fan, I truly seek for this team to succeed, they deserve it.

He made a number of good saves, didn't allow rebound opportunities, and was otherwise very much up to the challenge.

Foster humiliated the Jets, you could see them getting frustrated over him stopping their shots 🤣 Ayers is why you never give up on your dream, he staying ed shape enough to get the job as emergency goalie and showed that he was the right man for the job even if it took injuries to do it

I know this comment is 2 years old, but Ayres was actually credited with the Win. The Hurricanes were up 3-1 against the Leafs and went to 4-1 after Ayres went in. Ayres let in 2 goals which would mean that the Game Winning Goal was scored while he was on the ice. That didn't happen with Foster.
People criticize the leafs for losing this game, but if you actually watched the game you would see that any team would have lost this game. Carolina played the best defence of their lives, and any mistake they made was capitalized upon instantly by a goal. The leafs were held to like ten shots for the rest of the game, many of them scrappy low danger chances. The leafs got out coached out skated and overall just outplayed by this team. Ayres didn’t win this game for them himself, the hurricanes insane defence did.
I love my hometown team cuz they're in the echl so whenever one guy gets injured or called up the night before a game or injured during playoffs, the goalie coach of the blades that doubles as my goalie coach goes in. It actually benefits the team most of the time because he has won the Calder and was echl goalie of the year the year before he retired
An old friend of mine, in the Fort Wayne Komets organization of the IHL at the time, was their equipment manager Joe Franke, also 42. He was the backup emergency goaltender. In 2002 the regular goalie was injured and Joe had to go in, in the 2nd period. He allowed two goals in regulation, and the game went into overtime and then a shootout. He ended up stopping a couple of hard shots in the shootout and ended up winning the game. He will forever be known in Fort Wayne as "1-0 Joe".
