I know this vid is a year old, but it's still helpful nonetheless. My dad (who's no longer with us) gave me one of these almost 25 years ago and it had gotten so gunky that it wouldn't even function without extra effort. Like, splitting fingernails trying to get the knife open gunky. Following this vid, it's nice and clean and almost like brand new. Thanks!!!!
I've been carrying one of those for over 25 years now, I'm on my second one. I work mostly around saltwater and my old one lives in my tackle box full time. I've never seen any sign of rust on mine anywhere. I was under the impression it was some grade of stainless steel. My current one has been with me now for about 15 years or so. I never leave home without it.
Although Gerber does not always disclose their steels, the steel on the MP600 is a tool steel, probably a 440 series. You are correct also to place it as a stainless steel
My first one broke after 25 years and they replaced it. The first time I pulled the new one out of the sheath I drooped it about 1 foot and one of the small pin springs is gone. Can not find a replacement anywhere.
Hi, thanks for good video I have mp600 black blunt&needle nose(2016 ver. ). Your tool has (looks like) serration knife and drop point knife but my two tools have same file and sheep foot knife. I never seen your tool combination before on every internet mall. Could you let me know your mp600 model No. and where to buy? Or did you modified tool combination ? Thanks
You tool config seems like theyre rhe MP600 ProScout version complemented by a replaceable metal saw. The droppoint+serrated sheepsfoot combo is just whats comes with the MP600Basic. I swapped the needlenose for the bluntnose for my current MP600 carry which is the ProScout w/ Bluntnose. Hope that clears things up. Take care of yours!
Can some one help me, please? I have this version but in black oxide and instead of the rectangular holes in the serrated and normal knife, I have a nail nick. Is it an older version?
Well its actually the teeth that will engage the notches. If you will notice also, I am not really applying a great deal of pressure on the grip. Just enough to turn. Lastly, the steel is a tool steel so i sure hope they do hold up to forces. Thank you for your comment bud.
A significant error during assembly. The flat spring of the pliers retainer is mounted upside down. Существенная ошибка при сборке. Плоская пружина фиксатора пассатижей установлена кверху ногами.

Do you add any lubricant after assembly?
Nothing more than what i already put cleaning/scrubbing it. I used mineral oil
What is the mineral oil you used?
How old your tool ?
