I bought my Wyze thermostat on sale at Lowe’s and was hesitant to install it since I have a very old home and my existing thermostat didn’t have the C wire. Rest assured, if you follow the very detailed and helpful instructions in the Wyze app under “add device” I have every confidence you can install it like I did. It was all done within a half hour and the app itself asked me specific questions to make sure I installed it correctly and safely with several prompts to ensure my power was cut to the system to prevent shocks. Very impressed, as usual with Wyze, and happy to have it completed all by myself!
This is a terrible set of instructions. How did the C wire get up to the thermostat from the C wire adapter which was installed at the furnace. Originally there were 4 wires shown. In many homes there are only 4 wires at the back of the thermostat. Your instructions show the C wire adapter installed at the furnace then a 5th wire magically appears at the back of the thermostat. This is a major problem to get the 5th wire from the furnace up to the thermostat to be used as the C wire.
Listen to the narration. If you use the C wire adapter you won't have a C Wire at the thermostat end (if it works like the ecobee one, it combines Y and G onto one wire and uses a diode inside the thermostat to split them back up internally, which frees up the G wire to act as a C wire).

They work perfectly! With 3 of these cameras I can see every corner of the yard, and they were very easy to set up. The best part is I only get the footage I want to see, not hours of videos of the bird feeder swaying in the breeze.
*I have had the **Newest.Technology** system since they were initially released (over 2 years). I love the ease of use and they work well. Batteries last a long time too. I have added cameras as needed. I love the 2 way communication with this one.*

I'm confused, during the initial setup and removal of the old thermostat in this video the wires are red, green, yellow and white. Once the Wzye thermostat is install a fifth wire (blue c-wire) mysteriously comes out of the wall. Is this the same thermostat of is there two different methods being used? I have a this type of Honeywell thermostat and my c-wire (yellow) is not connected instead a blue wire is connected to the yellow screw so will I need to connect the c-wire adapter to the furnace and connect the c-wire to the Wzye screw?
Love Wyze, great products! I want to use this thermostat in my home BUT I don’t have a C wire. Plz make a version that doesn’t require a C wire or a C wire adaptor!

I find it very annoying to see this after two years and nobody has responded to your concerns yet. They obviously don't care about customer service. I'm glad I didn't buy anything from Wyze for my home security. You can't get them to help you with your customer service concerns. I think I am taking this thermostat back to the store.
Very poor QC on this video. At 1:50, it shows the old thermostat with 4 wires, Green, Yellow, White, and Red. Fast forward to 4:04. Now there are 5 wires coming out of the wall, Green, Yellow, White, BLUE, and Red. Where did the Blue wire come from?

Installation was pretty easy. Only issue was that my existing tstat didn't have a C wire. So, the instructions pushed me towards installing the C wire adaptor at the control board. I almost installed the C wire adaptor when I realized there WAS a C wire at the control board. It was just that my old Tstat didn't use it. Phew! So, I just added in my C wire to the line going to the Tstat. So, make sure you don't follow the walk through in the app to install the C wire adaptor if you don't need to! Most systems have the C wire, it's just that typical dumb Tstats don't use them.
Where did you connect it at the furnace? Mine is just hanging out on both ends.
My AC tech had the c wire attached to B. And it's a gas furnace. SMH.
Hoping Wyze will release a High Voltage thermostat like Honeywell or MYSA line voltage systems.

It’s an example. It could also of been a sub panel.
I had 3 different smart thermostats in last 4 years which are often 4 times more expensive. $50 for a smart thermostat, take my 💰

y1 y2 why? my system furnace mother board is connected to y2 so do i connect the wyze to y2?
Had issues at first my old stat had r wire jumperd to rc then w2 to y2
I also found a common blue wire cramed back into the wall it all works except emergency heat...

At 0:40, that's not a main breaker! What kind of home has a 120V 30A main breaker?
It's for demonstration purposes, I'm sure they weren't going to switch off their main breaker for a tutorial.
Just installed it. It would have been great to note that even with a C-wire, it needs to have the red going to Rc not Rh. Troubleshooting why power wasn't reaching the thermostat was fruitless without that little nugget done, but not mentioned, most of the way through the video, about 5:35.
Can I control a Wyze Plug with the Wyze Thermostat? I don't want my whole house to be smart home, just my office. My office has a space heater on one Wyze Plug and a small window AC on another Wyze Plug. I want to control these with a thermostat.

I feel like I'm missing something. I got everything connected with the c wire adapter and the unit will not power on once I turn on the system. Had to hook my old system back up. Any troubleshooting?
The adapter did not work for me. Fortunately I had the blue wire unused at the thermostat (it was just wrapped around the insulation along with the brown wire). I went into the air handler and connected it to C on the control panel then to the C on the Wyze thermostat and it worked. I have a Goodman A/C unit with the forced hot air element in the air handler.

Guess this won’t work with water heated radiators where there’s a thermostat valve on every radiator.

Yes and it is included, just follow steps in video how to connect it make sure to shut power off before installing

What is it connected to W, Y, R, C, etc??? Also does your current thermostat battery powered and last thing double check to see if there are more wires behind the wall not being used you might get lucky.
No!!! Originally their answer was yes. You need to have a yellow wire too. And you also need to have a C on your main controller.
Can this be used for Opentherm ore On Off combi boilers in the EU
Anybody else having huge temperature swings with this thing? I installed one a couple days ago and it will drop 2 degrees before kicking on and then over shoot the set temperature by 2-3 degrees. And yes, I have tried every "behavior" setting. Thanks

What if you don’t have a C wire?
We include a 'C-wire adapter' for those that do not have a C-wire.
The old wire set shown at thermostat side shows a C wire in blue, why do you need to use C wire adapter, or when you insert wires (from thermostat) to C wire adapter, it only shows 4 wires with no blue wire...?
Hi Jack! Thanks for reaching out. The blue C wire was only shown here as an example. We wanted to show that if you do have a C wire, you shouldn't use the C-wire adapter as an example. Please note that while C-wires are typically blue, some thermostat C-wires can be black, brown, or even purple. Sorry for the confusion! Received mine and the old thermostat doesn't look like in the video and there is only four wires, the blue wire are disconnected in both ends, my understanding the blue wire they called it here the "C" wire. So without the blue wire don't work? Why there is only one example of old thermostat? And how can one get help with this? 😤

Unfortunately I have an old heating 2 wire system no c wire and the control panel only has 2 wire connections that’s it. I need a power supply not sure how to connect that.
This is crap! Why not show "how" the BLUE wire got to the thermostat? You try to make it look easy... Running that wire is not, therefore you skip it. Shame.

What if you only have W And RC to the previous thermostat then what? The wire colors are red and white.

Well I know this product has been out for a little while now. I just bought a house and will not be closing for a little while. I would like to start collecting Wyze gear so the day I move in I can set it all up. Tech gets out dated very fast or you update a product and its better then the first. QuestionI have is do you guys have any plans to roll out a new version of the thermostat say within 6months? I just don't want to buy something then have a new product come out before I even install it.
Look at the Iphone, I hardly get to brake in my 13 before the 14 rolled out.

Why are labels with the first letters of colours attached to coloured wire? To be more specific, a label with the letter G was attached to the green wire; it is green anyway. I hope the video is not made for people that cannot see the colours, as for safety purposes, they should not deal with anything that could create a risk for them

We would also suggest hiring a technician if you don't feel comfortable installing a Wyze Thermostat to ensure your safety.

I have only one R wire. Do I connect it to Rh or Rc?

@@Peachquilter i resolved the issue i had two issues first the video doesnt tell you but the app instructions state you change your rh wire to rc and it worked with the c wire adapter but i routed a new wire anyways
We moved green wire to C and it worked.

@@NickzAndMikz I never did, and after plenty of research I ended up buying a Sensi thermostat, even though I have a few products from Wyze. I would highly recommend Sensi thermostats, the best thermostat I could have bought.

@@NickzAndMikz no problem. The Sensi that I bought was able to control the humidifier as well but due to complications with the way my system was wired I decided not to control it though the thermostat but at least I can see what the humidity is and get alerts.

Hi Matt! For wires that are connecting to your R, Rh terminal, they are usually connected using a jumper small jumper cable. You should be given the option to reconnect your wire to the R, or Rh terminal. If you're unsure, our support team would be glad to look into this further. We got ours today, and we do not have a straightforward “control board” but we do have a bundle of wires that appear to be the right ones based on color, and are wire nutted together, according to my owners manual diagram they are thermostat wires. Is this where I need to hook it up? We have a Coleman EB15 furnace
Just call an HVAC company to install it for you.

I liked the idea of the T stat.. But not going to pay $44.00 a moth for the service.. And Customer service hung up on me 2 times , F that sh it. Taking it back to home depot.

Does it display outdoor temp using internet/location?
ABs208 it displays the indoor temp on the display (only if you walk in front of it), and it shows the indoor temp and indoor humidity when you look on the app.
@@cirestamey9243 lame. Was kind of hoping it’ll show the outdoor temp using location services. Maybe in small font under the indoor temp.
ABs208 I have a ton of smart devices that give me the outside temp so I don’t need it on my thermostat; I get all the features I need for $49, and people like yourself that want more can buy the other brands that are available at a higher price.
@@cirestamey9243 not complaining. Just figured tha was a basic feature. Couldn’t be that difficult to pull the data via location services and display. Not a make or break for me. It would be nice on my way out the door early in morning if I could see the outdoor temp at a glance. Been buying wyze for years and don’t plan to stop now.
Worst thermostat I used I don’t recommend this if you set your temp at 72 it won’t shut until it get to 75 witch is fucking crazy and then if you set it at 75 it keep turning off and on every 2 sec

Do you have a common wire at your furnace, use C wire adapter at furnace R, W, C to common cap G and Y attach R and W from thermostat wire to C wire adapter

Is the AC wiring together with the Furnace wire at the same thermostat location, if so you can out the C wire maker at the AC unit pick up the common there

Exactly my situation here. It says the wyze thermostat isn't compatible, although I also have a Nest thermostat installed.
Different system have different set-up yellow usually is fan red is hot/power ect.

Yes all You have to do open the app with your cell phone and you can control the thermostat from anywere in the world.
Hello, I have a question about old thermostats. The one I'm currently using is a pretty old one, (round-shaped, mechanic, Honeywell) I tried to remove the faceplate and it says Series 20 Wiring, which has 2 cables only. Can I still install this? (I've posted the same question to How We Made Wyze Thermostat video, to be sure I'm also posting here)
No you can't. I just tried. You need a yellow to your thermostat too and need to have those plus a C on your main controller. Or rewire everything which I do not suggest.

I just installed my first thermostat for a test run. If it works well I will be replacing ALL of my Nest products with Wyze. I'll add 3 cameras and 5 more thermostats to my house and fund it with the sale of the Nest products. The V3 camera has sold me already. The door sensors are great. Motion detectors work perfect. Wyze is going to kill the competition.
You have 6 HVAC Systems in your house? If not, how are you wiring up your Wyze Thermostat?
We have 2 HVAC systems. Neither are ducted into my office (formerly a small garage). I have a space heater and a small window AC unit in my office. I run both through independent Wyze Plugs so I can turn them on or off through the app.
I want to set up some rules in the app to control these plugs based on temperature set points, so I would need to run a thermostat without an HVAC control board being present and use rules in the app to control everything.

Will this work with heat only systems?
I have a heat only system, and the check on their website states that it will work. I have a smart thermostat from my electric company that is currently working (although they are discontinuing the service) so I believe the Wyze Thermostat will work as well.

Wow this is called "simple dumb " ?! Wyze 90% of people will not be buying this because the setup required is too advance . This is horrible . Thank God it's the only product that is like this , good luck .
