In the last decade, I would say take care is joint with 808s and heartbreaks as the most influential albums. I ain't mention quality but influence. Every rapper gotta sing now and every rapper gotta have auto tune
Feefo perception so skewed by the trolls of that time or he just skimmed thru the album. Drake RAP raps on "Over My Dead Body", "Crew Love", "Under Ground Kings", "We'll Be Fine", "Make Me Proud", "Lord Knows", "Look What You've Done", "HYFR", "The Ride", "The Motto". That's 10 of the songs. Half or more than half (depending on what version of the album you hear) of the songs have him rapping. Feefo TRIPPIN
Its crazy looking at this shit years later wen singing n rapping is the norm now. To hear them say sing rapping isnt hiphop that shit is crazy. This was back n 2011!!!! Wow
Personally to me, this album is a classic. Like I was 15 when the album dropped. But back then I would still vibe to my mobb deep, my boot camp clik, etc. I love 90's hiphop and in the mid fall-winter, I tend to go towards the grimier side of hiphop. Take Care dropped in Nov of 2011. Mid fall-practically winter (in terms of temperatures) My username is there for a reason, but I did like this album. Its for the younger crowd, I think though. Just the vibe. You wouldn't catch a 37 year old bumping to take care or at least I have yet to hear them. I will say that A LOT of people in my past high school at the time were all over this album. And I was a sophomore at the time. It sparked memories, but I didn't bump it to its fullest ability (basically because I wasn't exactly old enough). It appeals to who are within the ages 13-25 maybe 26. These guys talking were probably my age now (18) in 1994-97. They grew up in the essence or golden era. Understandable. They do know not to bash every new artist though. What they were saying made since in terms of how "bitchy" he sounded. You wouldn't play this album in a car full of niggas, but you would play it with a girl beside you, or driving to a girls house on a fall/winter evening or night, trying to get ready for whatever is about to go down at her crib. This album did appeal HEAVY to the females as well. I remember they used to drip over crew love, cameras, practice and the ride.
Crew Love, Under Ground Kings, We'll Be Fine, Make Me Proud, Lord Knows, Camera, Look What You've Done, The Mottot, Hate Sleeping Alone... All straight hip-hop tracks
Ball into theMax I mean i've never really been a big fan of Drake's, like what B said when I heard So Far Gone I was like wow this is pretty cool, but as he releases more and more projects, it's like I grow more and more disinterested with Drake, hence why I said it's been downhill since then, I don't know that's just my personal opinion.
I think Drake's mixtapes are better then his albums. He can sing a little bit, but he defiantly isn't a good spitter. JCole has the same kind of sound Drake has, but JCole is a way better rapper.
In 2011 I felt the exact same way as these guys. This album had to grow on me but because hindsight is 2020, I must say it is his best body of work. Take Care and every album after was when Drake realized who he was, and what he was and got comfortable in that space. He found his voice. This album is a classic! He is emotionally honest. Drake and every man that bought this album and played it for a woman got more pussy on accident than most guys got on purpose.
Nah dude that's your preference, drake is ass by hip-hop standards and r&b standards but he meets you in the middle of both of those and his femininity is right there as well. You put this on with round females, they like that. It ain't a dudes album, it's for dudes trying to get at bitches who got a man. That area is and area that kinda foreign to me.
@@poopymcpoop9945 i agree. I know it sounds cliche and i didnt believe it at first, but once I started going on more dates and having girls in the car on roadtrips, i realized i couldnt play my ol' favorite gangsta 90s hiphop or heavy shit. @TheFFBrothers I don't say to Drake to leave hip hop. I think I said more than once that Drake has his place. I said that I personally don't wanna hear him rap because I just don't think he's good at it. But I also said that his type of thinking is needed in mainstream hip hop. Not everything has to be overly tough or party music. But the music should still be done well. Which, IMO, this is not.
Can't we just say that Drake is a genre on his own? Rap people don't have to like it , hip hop people don't have to like it, we just like what he does but we can't put a name on it yet. I'd just say like i wanna listen to a Drake kinda mood and flow.
That Kendrick Lamar interlude..... wow. That dude is the REAL. LMAO this made me check out the album and my favorite thing is that interlude. Thanks Drake. XD
I’m seeing this young white dude on their screen and remembering when I saw this the first time in 2011. Shit has me astral projecting into the past and realizing he looked like my age and now he looks like a CHILD. Edibles are crazy.
Lets talk about the positives about this album. The melodies, like "The Real Her" reminded me of some 90's r&b. Drake is one of thee BEST songwriters in hip-hop PERIOD. He may not be the most lyrical but his songwriting ability is top 5 dead or alive. He is able to stay on subject and the harmonies are catchy. It's great. C-town said, "Those were some of Ray-j's goons." LOL
3:55-4:02 is what i actually think about Take Care 😂😂 over 10 years later, Take Care has aged very well and is a classic. Drake was hungry and his singing sounded great. You can just tell the amount of effort he was putting in during this era compared to now.
Basically, when you sign a major no one messes with you any more. People love So Far Gone because he was not a major yet. It's just way too many opinions that fall apart when you examine them closely.
His previous work. The three most important things I look for in music but hip hop especially is lyricism honesty and a strong message. I have to say that Drake brought all three of those things to this album. Even on the more sing songy tracks.
I think if more of the actual tracks on the album were discussed, Myke would've had to eat his words. Yes, there are songs on Take Care where Drake is obviously rapping about relationships with women (people who actually get women should be able to relate to some of that). But nobody mentioned "Lord Knows" w/ Rick Ross where he addresses the criticism, which is a Just Blaze track and definitely hip-hop. The other hip-hop tracks are him talking about his life, fame, attention from women, etc.
I think Drake's style is in the category of Nelly's style. They both do the singing rapping thing and they've both done songs where they don't really rap much at all. But if you want to categorize his style, I think you can put them two together.
All I want is Comeback Season Drake back. That's all I want. When Drake actually rapped and was good. I think if he went back to his Comeback Season style people will see how good he can be. But sadly if he did, females probably wouldn't like him as much.
Saying Drake is emotional because he made ONE album that is mostly about his emotions is like saying I'm a plumber because I've unclogged a lot of toilets.
Agreed but I'm just going by what Drake has said in his interviews. 808's and Heartbreak influenced a lot of rappers out today. From Drake to Kid Cudi, they all credit Kanye for their inspiration. What amazes me is that 808's didn't even receive a single Grammy but it influenced the main sound of Hip Hop today (Emotional rap).
