Love this guitars wood pairing. The only thing I don’t like is the plastic white binding. Would rather see maple or Koa binding on these ltds. Wish they offered and option for binding!
Big fan of Taylor guitars and really love the look and sound of these two. However, with the 500 series now changing too it is really polarising the range in terms of price with the 300’s coming in mostly under £2K and everything else costing £3K and upwards.
I agree. I think it’s a real blind spot that Taylor doesn’t have an all solid indtrulent for under 1K, when so many of the other big dogs do. They’ve never been reactionary to other brands, but they also don’t usually miss a chance to innovate.
Why did they do the Urban Ash as a 400 LTD - As I recall, the 300 LTDs were in the Spring LTD series, and the 400 LTDs were Fall LTD. That may not be correct - I might have imagined that, so don't hold me to it.
Awesome sauce, I love the redwood, hate imperialism. Another tip top review. Any chance we can get a rundown of some guitar blaspheme? That being guitars with onboard effects. Asking for a friend… Keep on keeping on Chris. Thanks for the new podcast makes work less work.
Redwood always sounds nicely smooth, full of chime...! They are 400's simply because they can charge you more! BTW I have a 90's 412 with the pinless bridge spruce and mahogany!
That 414 is a beautiful guitar. One of these days….. I like Coopers take on Taylor trying to give us a true idea what urban ash sounds like. Thank you again
This video popped up on my TV literally minutes before I was going out the door to pick up the Sinker Redwood 414ce. I was swapping it out for another 414ce ltd i had grown really attached to. I took it as a sign from the guitar gods that I was doing the right thing. I can attest to the tone. Satin smooth glittery ear butter. No let down here.
If series nomenclature no longer carries characteristic commonality, why not give new releases imaginative names from English which not only would represent the product well but would simultaneously fit with a marketing campaign? Why have boring names for an exciting product?
I suspect it has to do with international marketing. I recall Bob Taylor talking about having 'LTD' issues and being able to market and ship with one number but several different tone woods. Taylor is looking for different sustainable or urban recovered tonewoods.
Is that the same wood the Louisville baseball bats were/are made of? All the Ash trees around here are dying, from a purple beetle. "sadly" Is the same thing happening where you are?
I think the Urban ash is much harder… a bat made of this ash would be brittle and break too easily,(and yes, I AM old enough to have used wooden bats from Little League all the way through American Legion ball…😱).
Different ash tree if I recall. Taylor urban ash is from a semi tropical ash grown in California for shade and now reaching maturity or over mature. So instead of mulching those trees, select trees are used for other things like guitars.
@@jed1166 Yeah, a lot of people don't realize that ebony can have a lot of streaks in it. Most people just think of uniform black when they hear ebony.
Hi Paul! I wanted a really nice guitar, so I stopped buying beer and Starbucks for one year. This saved me approximately $10 per day = $3,650 that I didn’t spend on non-essential liquids. I used this cash to buy a great acoustic guitar! Look to see if you have a spending habit that can be diverted to a nice guitar… maybe YOU will have $3,200 to spend on a guitar! Good luck!
the 424ce has better definition and notes pop more with out being thin. the Sinker redwood sounds nice but a tad muddy for definition especially finger picked against the Urban Ash
I think that they both look great and the redwood sounds impressive.

As long as people will pay it, they will require it.
I want to hear cooper play more often

I wish 424 urban ash wasn’t a cutaway
That Rosewood is on a whole other level.
Love the redwood guitar! What a great tone…

Well, "listening" to the tone of the ash SB is "surprisingly" as good as most other non-spruce wood.
Pretty cool!

I'm waiting for a Sinker Redwood GS-mini to add to my collection.....nudge. nudge!
They both sound amazing! I might go pick up the redwood!
Really like the sound of the urban ash Ltd.
You guys are the best. I love your videos.
I love how the 414 sounds I picked one of these up they are great guitars
I would have a tough time choosing between those two guitars. Great review!
Aah sounds more Taylory then redwood
That 424 sounds great fingerstyle. Quite surprised.
wearing a fender shirt while reviewing a taylor. its getting intentional. what's next?
They both sound great. Hard to know unless you try them in person.
Everybody knows guitars are female. LOL. Cancelled!! Great video gents. Thank you for diving deep into the series, the woods and tones.
Definitely the 414 Sinker Redwood!
Yep something about that 414 sounds nice

@@texhaines9957 Thought provoking. Perhaps Alamo can do a deep dive.
@@MelodyMaker it was on a Taylor Primetime with Bob Taylor
What do you think of top of the range tanglewood electric accustic guitars ??
Redwood, for sure.
How about urban ash and stinker redwood top
I love that 414!!!!

Also I would like the fingerboard wasn’t stained and natural to go with the urban ash
I don’t think it is stained… I think that is the color of the ebony wood,(hence the name “ebony”)…

@@f3uibeghardt522 I really like the streaked board on the redwood guitar,(and other recent Taylor’s)… adds character!
who has $3200 for a guitar? 🤔
