  • Puzzle explanation (Spoilers):
Three bit binary only includes zeros and ones within a 3 digit sequence.
    Open eye = 1, Closed eye = 0
The puzzle title says "From blind dragons to three-eyed demons". Blind dragon means 3 closed eyes (000). Three-eyed demon means 3 open eyes (111).
In yin-yang philosophy, cardinal directions are specially named. Dragon can refer to Seiryu (blue dragon) which represents East. Demon can refer to Kimon (demons' gate) which represents Northeast. Hence 000 = East, 111 = Northeast.
The remaining directions can be filled in according to the binary sequence (001=2, 010=3, 011=4, 100=5, 101=6, 110=7). By tracing the directions based on the puzzle, each grouping should give us one English letter.
Finally, the message is revealed to be MISTRAIN, which is the literal meaning of 霧雨 or Kirisame.
We have our last culprit sing along and what a twist it was!

this series is honestly one of my favorite fanworks. plus, there's multiple sequels! i wonder how satori'll do in those sequels, that'll be exciting.
aside from that, let's talk about the scene where koishi is just... hanging... it's heartbreaking because koishi is one of my favorite touhou characters. but not just that... it's the fact that just at the prior half of the video satori was toying with the vengeful spirit and just having fun, since she knows she'll win since she's the detective who has solved every other case so far!
but, the moment she saw koishi hanging at the end, her brain essentially short circuited. the fact that koishi hung herself, why did she hang herself? satori was already there for her sister, so why?
then, they get to the hospital and eirin breaks the news. the absolutely dominating power that was satori during the various mysteries, now just a complete mess. what hit me hard was the "to hell with solving mysteries. to hell with playing detective." line. i can't describe into words how heavy that felt, honestly. it's as if she's blaming herself for having fun.
the ending also hits particularly hard, especially because satori breaks out into a song just like every other culprit. she thinks of herself as the true culprit for koishi's death... and then after that, she desperately tries to cling on to the last thing she has... her detective work. the detective work that got koishi killed in her perspective. here she almost completely loses it, but she picks up enough resolve to still do her signature "gotcha" pose as a last resort to lift herself up from the ground.
but even then, the "gotcha!" pose with the jojo colors is distorted. in all the other ones, her eyes look clean and determined (except for the saving koishi pose, but in that one it's more of "finishing the final assignment at midnight" type dirty), and often has satori with her regular hair color saturated like the norm. but here... it feels off. the colors are janky and she feels like she's about to collapse but she's trying to hold it all together. her one liner isn't smug or cool in an "i won" fashion, it's her trying to find something to latch on to. she's using everything she can to cope with koishi's state. once again, the true heartbreak is seeing our favorite detective, satori, in shambles.
this entire thing feels like if satori got the "neutral" ending instead of the good or true ending. i think that's why i feel satisfied with the conclusion. i'm not too happy, but it can work. besides, sequels exist, which i am excited for!

Great job on the thoughtful analysis! Some of your questions can be answered by rewatching the series, since donjuan loves to use foreshadowing in prior episodes. For example, Koishi and the first hospital guard's "deaths" were both due to hanging in a storage room.
The following is from my own understanding:
For Koishi, her attitude and trust towards Satori has been slowly wavering throughout the latter half of the series. In the end, she breaks when confronted by the news of Satori essentially "abandoning" her. Despite it being a lie told by the culprit, once again we see her naïveté and willingness to trust others only to be taken advantage of. Ironically, I think Satori still considers that innocence as Koishi's defining character, which then she shows a near "fanatic" motivation to salvage it.

@@MoriyaSalesman i already know about the questions. i was trying to make it from satori's perspective and what she was thinking. i guess i didn't make it clear enough...

@@Niiue Yes, it would seem so. Excuse my enthusiasm when discussing the series because donjuan is one of the special gems in touhou fan works. So many clues are just left around each episode for the viewers to decipher while everything comes together at the end.
Similarly, the sequel is a real piece of work and it brings the series to another level.

I wonder how it feels for Orin and Okuu who were seen waiting just outside the room, first thing theyll hear is silence, then one second later some sick beats starts playing and Satori starts singing, and then maniacal laughter, and finally some talking.A weird order of events for such an unexpected ending. But hey,I got what i asked for the first time this happen, but now i wonder, will this karaoke thing continue on in the sequel?.Which judging by the ending, the chances that there will be a sequel is pretty high.Because this is basically very nice.Alot to say but this is the finale of this series afterall.Hopes there will be a sequel, because discovering this is a sudden turn for the awesome.

By far one of the best derivative works out there. It's the perfect balance between silly absurdity and stunning ingenuity, and the art and aesthetic are charismatic and incredibly creative. But god damn it, that finale hit me like a sledge hammer. The story had so far been pretty light hearted despite the dark themes and occasional violence, and it was established that no one had really died since they're youkai, so it was all like a game, but then you get slapped on the face with an actual tragedy right at the end. Anyway, loved it, and thanks a lot for the translation!11!

Didn't want to comment again before but did it anyway. Since got into this series, I began to warming up to these characters. But that last opening Rumba Rumba from Sayonara Z. Sensei is the real punch in the gut especially after seeing the episode. It all connected so well, really clever by the author. Holy goodness, what a ride.
Usually climax to end of every story I read/watch always felt short and underwhelming. Leading to me disappointed in the series. This one is no exception. But it so well paced and very greatly told, the story was so worth it I am feeling super satisfied. This prove author put its love and passion in this, also thumbs up to Uploader who translate and capable of delivering the same weight to the story with different language.
    Ah yes, Wheelchair Detective Satori or I would have to call it: Satori Komeiji Heart-Throbbing Adventure. Koishi ;.;

i guess it's time for the final episode! i'm rewatching this series and commenting on some stuff that might've played a part later, or other stuff like foreshadowing, but it seems this is the end of the road. in that case, i'll just comment on the things that WERE foreshadowed earlier on.
for the last time... spoilers ahead! (if you haven't watched the final episode fully yet)
    0:18
notice how they refer to koishi as "lady koishi" and how they referred to satori as "lady satori"
    0:38
notice how the mastermind is phrasing everything. he's abusing the weakness in koishi's heart.
    1:06
time for my favorite OP of the entire series. this is full of foreshadowing for what'll happen in the final half of the episode.
    1:54
note koishi's prevelance in this entire episode so far
    2:05
this scene is used later on
    2:09
if you already finished this episode, this hits quite differently considering the symbolism
    2:18
note koishi and satori's poses and everything. the hand looks like satori's. and if it is, that would be some damn good symbolism
    3:22
this leads to satori's undoing. but let's appreciate how satori's theme is playing this time! the final case, which is also her first case, she's ending it all here! she's going to go all out and make this person acknowledge their defeat.
    4:12
all that marisa foreshadowing, all to culminate in this!
    5:00
the final blows being landed by satori. all that foreshadowing and clues are finally unleashed!
    5:27
satori's joyful "case closed" knowing that it's finally all over, and that she's going to save koishi now, it isn't her signature "gotcha!" pose though.
    6:14
as the vengeful spirit stated, they capitalized on koishi's insecurities about satori and essentially caused her to commit suicide, making her think that satori gave up on her. she lost all faith in satori.
    6:23
    resembles the OP
    6:38
note how eirin couldn't save koishi. she hung herself on her own accord, she lost her will to live. as a result eirin was powerless.
    7:00
satori says that she was the true culprit all along
    7:24
back to satori's room- wait, no, it's koishi's now huh. anyways, notice how the song is the same as when koishi entered satori's room. heartrate monitor and everything.
    8:32
the lyrics are very similar to koishi's situation.
    8:45
satori picks up a microphone, and starts her own culprit karaoke.
    12:22
satori's very final "gotcha!" pose. the colors feel weird, her hair especially
    12:37
and it's the end! i really enjoyed this series, and the amount of foreshadowing in each episode astounded me. i will fervently await the sequel and enjoy it to the fullest too.
