Dear Bhante, Thanks again for such a wonderful talk and highlighting that it's sticking to basics that is important rather than trying to have more information, expecting some fireworks. With Gratitude
Taming the wild animals has to be continuous as you step back a bit and ‘rest’ ( meaning get lax and indulge in sensuality of one form or another) and they need to be re-tamed. Not easy but very glad to hear it over and over. Sadhu anumodana Bhante 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Marvelous talk. Tightening of sense restraint, khanti on the level of the mind. Closing the door for Mara by siphoning off the fuel for craving. It's the ,,bread and butter" of the Dhamma practice.
Dear Bhante, I endure the pull of the senses when they arise and later when I am sufficiently calm and have some free time( because I have to study), I do the asubha contemplation and contemplation of danger. While doing so there is joy and deep calmness. Should I be afraid of this calmness specially when the mind knows that it will get into agreeable situation before I start the contemplation?
Dear Bhante, While enduring the sensual thoughts, is bringing the perspective that these kinds of thoughts are dangerous( not asubha but just having an indirect knowledge of where these thoughts can lead to) denying the thought or doing that is okay? Thank you
I have a question about suffering & pain, when is it wholesome and unwholesome to endure suffering. I know that pain is felt but I thought suffering is something that was unwholesome like the story of the two arrows. There are scientific studies that show that suffering is beneficial for the mind but in what way would it be wholesome?? Thank you 🙏
Dear Ajhan, Even Ajhan Chah was teaching to observe the breath at the nostril , But of course Sila ,sense restrain come first and are really the basis to then proceed to Samadhi then Panna . S.N Goenka teaching are not just to observe sensation but to Practice Sila and sense restraint as well. Observe bodily sensation and our mind without reacting to it and develop patience endurance of pressure as as well and not to be fool by pleasant Feelings . I like to listen your teaching but I don't get it why you judge other traditions without totally know about them. When listen to you teaching is really similar than Goenka or some other Forest Thai traditions . With respect 🙏
Maybe because he IS teaching the Thai Forest Tradition ... Ajahn Chah actually taught Samdhi then Sila the Panna ... Considering the Mahayana Tradition almost bypasses the four noble truths, you assume much, the projecting here from you onto Bhante is unwarranted. Did you actually listen to understand why he critiqued a tradition? It really helps to be quiet.

If it's the joy and calmness that comes from asubha and contemplating the danger, then no, you don't have to be afraid of that.
@@HillsideHermitage Thank you Bhante, for the answer.

There's no more ground for contact that's there to touch you.

Stream-entry seems easy once one wholeheartedly commits to the practice.
Be careful to not let your lute string be too loose or too tight. Ego regularly uses the wholehearted commitment to maintain itself.
the pressure is real... sadhu Bhante.. sadhu..
Hi Bhante, Where can I purchase/access Nanaviras writings? Thank you.
A lot of Nanavira Thera's writings are here.
