Perhaps it was intentional...perhaps K2SO will be reprogrammed by Cassian using Nemik as a baseline. His manifesto may be what gives him enough understanding of Nemik to be able to do that. Then Nemik could live on as a droid, at least in spirit. This would make K2SO's partnership/death even more meaningful.
I love the sentiment! However not really true. "Dive" comes after, then instructions to level out, a heading and some info about the right booster setting.
Definitely intentional. They are putting in lots of little things that foreshadow what happens in Rogue One... I'd put money on the line "Rebellions are built on hope" being in Nemik's manifesto. LOVE this show!!
The heist arc is probably my favorite of the series. The great thing about the arc is that we were filled in on the plan, watched them train for it, but when it went down we didn't know they were taking hostages and using the skeleton crew to load the credits and that kept the tension going. Excellent storytelling.
My heart was pounding out of my chest throughout the last 15 minutes of this episode! I was just repeating “come on, come on, come on” on and of throughout the heist. The writing and directing was honestly some of the best I have ever seen not just in Star Wars but in any spy thriller tv series. And even after all of this Cassian still has no hesitation to put down an enemy, even if they were once an ally. I’m so happy that they portray all these characters as being completely grey. With the exception of Nemik.😢 This show deserves as big of an audience as The Mandalorian.
The tension during this episode was insane. Can’t believe that I was more shocked by Cassian killing Skeel than Skeel’s proposal to steal the credits from the rebels.
Yah same. His betrayal was shocking but not that shocking. Cassian shooting him caught me by surprise. It was almost like he was saying you’re right, but screw you anyway.
It's some really good foreshadowing, go back and watch the action scene again and watch Skeel completely prioritize his own survival and get Taramyn killed by staying in cover and just not giving him the cover fire he requested.
Now, I don't know if this is a plot hole, or not... But Skeen admitted he can't fly the transport. That means unless he had a partner in the group aside from Andor (who he knew nothing about until the last minute) there was no way of him pulling a double cross theft of the heist prize. So, either this was just pure opportunism on his part, an unexpected plan... or he had a partner. But I don't see any of the group being his partner. Nemik is the idealist, not a chance of him betraying the cause. Likewise with Taramyn, the ex stormtrooper. He seemed to be dedicated to the cause. We know it wouldn't have been Vel, as she's the one he was set to betray. It could have been Lt. Gorn, who might also have been lying about his involvement with the native woman, but he genuinely seemed to have a soft spot for the people and guilt over his role amongst the Empire. Cinta is the most likely accomplice, as we still know very little about her other than she is pretty ruthless, but it couldn't have been her as the plan did not call for her to escape in the ship. That leaves no-one else. So, I think Skeen just saw a chance he wasn't expecting to show up, and took a huge gamble on Andor being a typical 'credit driven merc'. But then, why would an obvious selfish, profit driven scumbag be involved in the cell/Rebellion in the first place (It's far too risky an endeavour)? It's a headscratcher in an otherwise impeccable episode.
@@robecoyote9136 you make some good points. Perhaps he was recruited by another rebel like Luthan and got in with the sob story about his brother. But I think he just took the opportunity when it arose. I mean he was probably pondering it beforehand, but I doubt he’d have risked it if the chance hadn’t presented himself. He probably thought Andor would be his accomplice. But maybe it was Sinta.
I swear every episode of this show it takes me like 5 whole seconds to remember what the title card is. EVERY TIME I'm like "oo we're starting in space with this episode?"
And you have dumbxss like the Star Wars Theory channel telling the show is mid because there are too much dialogues, no many Easter Eggs, no lightsabers, no mindless action, etc.
Love how much personality the Army Troopers have equal to that of the random Rebels we see throughout the franchise, very different to how we see Stormtroopers as they feel like actual people rather than machines. Also love how we're actually seeing Army Troopers instead of Stormtroopers which makes since I'd imagine with the low risk they just stationed a few Army Troopers at the Dam while the Stormtroopers are stationed in the Air base as we do see some walking around behind the Tie Fighters. I've also linked the Stormtroopers to the Air/Navy as they're usually stationed on Star Destroyers or deployed from Star Destroyers to oversee a planet and city like we see in Rogue One. But for normal bases I can see those being made up of mostly Army Troopers it's just we rarely see in the films and who knows maybe the Empire pushed for more Stormtrooper deployment once the Rebellion kicked off. From my understanding Army Troopers were first mentioned in a novel from 2015 post EU under Disney. The designs of their outfits though look similar to the AT-ST pilots in Return of the Jedi sharing the same militant outfit and helmet while General Veers from Empire Strikes Back while in command of the AT-AT also wears a similar helmet and chest armour over his outfit. No idea if those AT-ST pilots in Jedi were Army Troopers but nonetheless the Army Trooper style of outfit has been around since Empire and Jedi only difference being the lack of chest armour worn by the AT-AT pilots and the more light grey colouring compared to the darker outfits worn in this series. Should also mention that the Officer outfit from Battlefront 2 (2005) also wears a similar outfit having the chest armour over his officer outfit and the same helmet worn by General Veers.
Exactly....I love how they used the Imperial Source Book for this show, and how it shows the Imperial Army troopers looking as mentioned in it. The Imperial Army is not all Stormtroopers. I hope they keep Stormtroopers the same way in the book, considered elite shock troopers that supported both Navy and Army Troops, and only deployed in critical resistance areas.
Yes Stormtroopers are attached to the Navy for the Galactic Empire. They are similar to the marine corps in that they are more lightly armed force that depends on the Imperial Army for armour support and the Navy for air support. As for army troopers (we see them in Solo on Mimban the mud planet). They were mostly conscripts or volunteers and are the main military fighting force of the empire. We never see them as stormtroopers are just easier to sell as "bad guys" due to them having helmets so they can remain nameless and as such they are perfect cannon fodder.

Since I watched this at midnight I've been waiting to see how you two felt about this episode. I haven't watched this yet but I bet you loved it as much as I did
Adam is correct about Dick Grayson. In-universe he’s considered by the majority of heroes to be the best of all of them, including Superman, who chose Dick to be his son Jon’s mentor while Clark was off-world.
This was filmed in Scotland the story line of the indigenous people resembles the highland clearances of the 1700’s in Scotland and the meteor shower is I think a homage to the Scottish Aurora Borealis which is worth googling as it is genuinely as amazing and happens most nights throughout the winter when meteor skip the ionosphere
The TIE launch sequence, with the klaxon blaring, took me alllllll the way back to 1994 and playing TIE Fighter as an early teen. I've been waiting for that kind of a shot for almost 30 years!
The dam sequence...she didn't want to start because she knew this was probably the last time either forever, or in a long time she wouldn't see her lover again.
For me it's also her realizing that this is the point of no return. She wanted to be a leader and now it's all on her. Everything they been doing so far is coming down to this moment; do they go or not?
I burst into tears at the end of this episode, ones of joy. To me, the very essence of Star Wars is the Rebellion. It's not the Jedi, it's not Bounty Hunters (no matter what cool armour they wear). It's the Rebel Alliance. That was the core of the original trilogy. The underdog fight against the monolithic Empire. From 1983 after RotJ, we had nothing....*nothing* (except for Splinter of the Minds Eye and 6 sub par 'Adventures of Han or Lando' novels) for four years until the release of the West End Games RPG in 1987. (In which, you played Rebel Operatives and Rebel Cells, just like we saw in this story arc). The big boom of EU novels didn't happen until 1991. The big Jedi lore drop didn't take place until TPM in 1999 (at which point they took over as the main focus). The Rebellion is the *core essence*, the foundation of what is Star Wars. And we finally have it back in focus, and exquisitely done.
10/10, I was saying 9/10 but on the rewatch I gotta give it a 10! What an ass-puckerer of an episode indeed, they really nailed the payoff after the slow burn! Plus, wow The Waif (Vel) can act! She's been so good all the way through but her showing fear/nerves on the bridge before they jumped was SO GOOD, it didn't even feel like a movie but just watching someone actually freaking out and freezing in the moment, you could just feel your guts twisting with her! Gdamn!
For me it's her realizing that this is the point of no return. She wanted to be a leader and now it's all on her. Everything they been doing so far is coming down to this moment; do they go or not? No wonder she is hesitant and feeling sick, it's the scariest fucking decision she's ever had to make so far.

This episode was so good. Nemik’s story was so beautiful and tragic. And the action and tension was amazing. Aside from Cassian and maybe Vel there was no guarantee anyone would survive. And the tie fighter sequence gave me Mando s2 finale vibes.
Vel had a lot going on in her brain. That's why she didn't really have her head in the game when they were waiting for her "go" signal. 1) It's the first mission she's ever been in charge of from beginning to end. 2) She's still on edge about the curveball that Luthen threw at her with Cassian. 3) She's worried she'll never see Cinta again (among other personal feelings, probably). 4) Just the sheer, perfectly normal dread any sane person experiences when doing something this stupid (Necessary, and somewhat well-planned...but still stupid. Taking on a foe like the Empire is always stupid, no matter what...but sometimes it needs to be done, no matter the cost).
Yes! All this! And this is clearly the point of no return for this mission. All that planing, all the potential risk, possibly sending everyone to their death (it's all fun and games to train and talk about risking your life but when it's real...) and also the thought of the potential reward. And it's all on her in that very moment. She is the leader. She need to decide: go or no go.
I'm in my low 50s. I waited in line with my dad to see Empire Strikes Back. My entire childhood and most of my life has been resounding with Star Wars and Star Wars 'stuff'. I honestly think this is the best Star Wars ever.
The episodes leading up to this episode is like smoking meat. Yes you have the wait and it's a slow process but at the end of the day, the end product is PERFECT
I'm just so happy they didn't bury the gay: they hunted at Vel and Cinta and then showed it. Sidebar: in both Rebels and Legends, the Ghorman massacre is what sends Mon Mothma to fill rebellion. Just...amazing set up.
This is what happens when you use real professionals and not Robert Rodriguez. You get actual build up and pay off and internal logic that tracks. You have actual characters and not action figures. You get interesting plots with twists that aren’t written by a 7th grade theatre kid. I love it. I need more. I wish more folks were watching so they make more.
"On the edge of my seat" is a popular saying but I literally caught myself about to slide off my couch onto the floor during the tie fighter chase scene. Holy shit.
Gratuitous pedantry moment: they’re meteors. Meteoroid/asteroid is the term for when they’re still in space; meteor is used when they’re flying through the atmosphere; and meteorite is for after they hit the ground.
Can't help but Zemo dance at the intro. It gets me every time 😂 also coming from a person who isn't much into star wars, but has recently been getting into it.. this show is just amazing. Its pulled me in since the first episode and makes me want to fall deeper into the star wars world. Love the reactions as always guys and stay peachy 🍑
That episode was absolutely wizard! Perfect execution of suspense, beautful imagery, great music ... and all of that just works even better, because the built it up so much. Whoever came up with the Eye of Adhani idea needs a raise!
I was completely stunned when Cassian shot that guy. I don't think I've ever had such a huge, visceral, yet completely silent and aback moment watching anything in a while.
Andor > Rogue One > New Hope > Empire > Jedi > Mandalorian is A+ Star Wars I still love what comes before Andor and after Mando, but we definitely have a sweet spot
That whole 5 minutes after the show where the guys were just, "This is good. Wow this is good. This shit is so good."... man, relate so much. Felt some sort of afterglow after watching is ep!
Dan Gilroy knows how to write a story. Wow. The tension, suspense. It was all there. And the world building. Character building. Man. I look forward to the next 3-ep arc.
Andor has Ferrix, where the locals bang bin lids as the law arrives, and Aldhani, where the highland people are cleared to the lowlands by a colonial power. It's hard not to notice the Britnat parallels.
0:31 Yes! I actually realized this last week after the episode. witch is pretty star warsy, wouldn't you say? having the story in a trilogy? 5:16 I think it's good they have this intro, it forces me to realign my brain and get ready for the shows tempo and not be too antsy to get to the thing. 10:42 A perfect way of reminding Adam about the live action underwater stuff in episode I 12:15 Yeah, I thought the same thing Adam 16:13 "WOW!" indeed Jay, indeed. 16:29 Yep, that is amazing. also, that is something we have not seen live action before, a Pilot entering a TIE. 21:23 Yeah, I thought about you guys when I saw it, from the moment you noted "Oh, He dead" as soon as he started talking about that manifesto of his. So many dead! Only Kassian and the two Ladies survived. I have not heard "my butt is making so many diamonds right now" before, but I like it!
I think that when Andor reads Nemik's manifesto, we're gonna have some flashbacks of him writing it and talking over it. So hoping is not the last time we see him. 'Cause I love him so much!
No, he explained it very clear; he is just trying to survive and in his experience you don't survive by helping others but by helping yourself. He saw himself in Andor and realized there was an opportunity to leave with all those sweet credits. That's why the show is so fucking good, all the characters are so well written, they are grounded in their perception of the world and make decisions based on their previous experience and what drives them, not because the script need them to. It's such a pure character driven drama and I love it.
Why, exactly? That’s extremely boring. Maybe the arc as a whole could be called that but “the Eye” is interesting, relevant to and indicative of the episode, and it has multiple. It refers to the phenomenon and could also be referring to Cassian’s eye being opened to the idea of rebellion. And to the heist opening eyes across the galaxy, within and without the Empire.
This show if phenomenal… I don’t understand why there’s not a higher viewership. I’m kinda trippin that it might not get another season when this is maybe my all time favorite Star Wars. It’s SO well done!!
Nemik, man. I think we all saw it coming, but the dude literally saved the life and soul of the man who takes down the Death Star. RIP to a true Rebel
Right? He saw the promise in Cassian beyond his skill as a soldier when no one else did. RIP.

There’s definitely meaning in that. Nemik’s death was so sad. Not unexpected but still.

I'm in my low 50s. I waited in line with my dad to see Empire Strikes Back. My entire childhood and most of my life has been resounding with Star Wars and Star Wars 'stuff'.
I honestly think this is the best Star Wars ever.
The nod at 21:16, when the writing is so good.
One of the best things Star Wars ever did was hire Tony Gilroy. That was so good, I wished it was a movie so I could see it on a big screen.
I think you guys are the only reactors that don't dig the lettering intro! I would watch it every week along with my dad, and never got tired of it!
I popped out 6 infinity stones watching this episode. Damn the tension on this show is just top notch
This show is so wonderful. I love watching these beautiful scenes and saying "what a shot. I can't wait to see Adam and Jay see this."
The Eye was f**king GORGEOUS
I am on the floor laughing so hard at how in synch you two are in these last few videos! 🤣💀😆💀🤣
nobody mentioning the music yet. the heist music ties into the locals singing which ties into the empire's docking station klaxons. feckin stellar job
I can’t not even fathom how this show ended up being so damn good and BOBF and Kenobi ended up being so damn bad
"On the edge of my seat" is a popular saying but I literally caught myself about to slide off my couch onto the floor during the tie fighter chase scene. Holy shit.
"I wish Earth had something like that".
I mean, the Aurora Borealis?
When Nemik said "Climb! Climb!" did that remind you of K2's last words? "Climb! Climb!"
Gratuitous pedantry moment: they’re meteors. Meteoroid/asteroid is the term for when they’re still in space; meteor is used when they’re flying through the atmosphere; and meteorite is for after they hit the ground.
Yes! Love this episode. The subtleties. The ambiguous morality. The wonderful writing and acting. So freakin good.
I knew we were going to get a Jay raspy laugh at the end of this & a fully stunned Adam. This episode was WILD! 💕
Pretty sure that when Cassian reads Nemik's manifesto, he'll see the words, "Rebellions are built on hope."
Andor > Rogue One > New Hope > Empire > Jedi > Mandalorian is A+ Star Wars
I still love what comes before Andor and after Mando, but we definitely have a sweet spot
I thought you were saying was greater than Rogue One which is greater than A New Hope…etc etc. I was about to say!!
Such a Great Episode and we still have 6 to go! So many great scenes!
This is just going to get more intense.
We are in THE golden age of Star Wars storytelling. I love seeing this universe building. I am so fucking happy to be here.
Adam's right about Nightwing's cake. Even Harley and Ivy have complimented him about that.
Adam eating his words again saying Andor would be bad. Told you it would be the best Star War show to date man.
GAH the juxtaposition of them doing horrible things along with that beautiful meteor shower?! Beautiful.
"Maybe it's just him getting a dead-end job"
Love how that's exactly what happened. XD
I’ll never get over our socialist king getting literally crushed by capital 😭
Anyone else thinking Nemik kinda sounded like K2-S0 there with that word "Climb!"?
Andor has Ferrix, where the locals bang bin lids as the law arrives, and Aldhani, where the highland people are cleared to the lowlands by a colonial power.
It's hard not to notice the Britnat parallels.
0:31 Yes! I actually realized this last week after the episode. witch is pretty star warsy, wouldn't you say? having the story in a trilogy?
5:16 I think it's good they have this intro, it forces me to realign my brain and get ready for the shows tempo and not be too antsy to get to the thing.
10:42 A perfect way of reminding Adam about the live action underwater stuff in episode I
12:15 Yeah, I thought the same thing Adam
16:13 "WOW!" indeed Jay, indeed.
The Andor intro gives me time to call my mom, check my email, and do some light mediation
Oh man, I'd never thought of that. Walter White would make an AWESOME Imperial
I think that when Andor reads Nemik's manifesto, we're gonna have some flashbacks of him writing it and talking over it. So hoping is not the last time we see him. 'Cause I love him so much!
I sure hope Skeen wasn't just testing Andor! That was my first thought.
That would be AWKWARD xD
No, he explained it very clear; he is just trying to survive and in his experience you don't survive by helping others but by helping yourself. He saw himself in Andor and realized there was an opportunity to leave with all those sweet credits. That's why the show is so fucking good, all the characters are so well written, they are grounded in their perception of the world and make decisions based on their previous experience and what drives them, not because the script need them to. It's such a pure character driven drama and I love it.
7:27 Lol the Yeti line is so true! I bet they call them ‘Wampa Mugs’ in the StarWars universe.
EDIT: Dude, Jay was on fire with the comedy today.
Amazing episode but should have been called "The Aldhani job"
Why, exactly? That’s extremely boring. Maybe the arc as a whole could be called that but “the Eye” is interesting, relevant to and indicative of the episode, and it has multiple. It refers to the phenomenon and could also be referring to Cassian’s eye being opened to the idea of rebellion. And to the heist opening eyes across the galaxy, within and without the Empire.
Thanks guys. Nice work Andor crew!!!!
I was like DAMN THE EMPIRE IS EVIL at that “tribal idiots” conversation, but then I realized that’s just the British.
Knew my day wasn't complete without seeing y'alls reaction to this episode! This show has been incredible since day 1!
Failed drinking game.. Take a shot everytime Jay blinks during the heist.... Sooo sober LOL
That flight thru the eye scene is basically Star Wars meets Mad Max Fury Road…amaze-balls
This show manages to retroactively make the original trilogy an even better story! 👏 👏 👏
"I'm Clem!" :D
Poor Adam, all that mental effort to erase all Jar Jar Ep1 scenes from his mind only for Jay to bring it all back with a single "Meesa"
We saw underwater in Obi-Wan too.
Filmed in Scotland at Cruachan Dam and ... the Brian Cranston actor is legendary Scottish actor David Hayman.
This episode took me back to Empire Strikes Back!
my single favorite thing that Star Wars has ever produced, fuckin incredible man
This show if phenomenal… I don’t understand why there’s not a higher viewership. I’m kinda trippin that it might not get another season when this is maybe my all time favorite Star Wars. It’s SO well done!!
I'd rate this episode 10 out of 10 diamonds. Woooo. Unda pressha!
