I’ve been enjoying it overall, yeah it started off slow but I was fine with that, I don’t need loads of action and big cameos to be invested. For me the only real misstep was that chase scene through the streets with the Mods that felt clunky and not up to the standard we’ve come to expect from these shows. But then we got cool stuff like Boba taking out the biker gang with Slave 1 so I’m pretty satisfied overall.
Now we shall see if Boba has what it takes after all. The gauntlet has been thrown. If he wants to rule, he has to do to the Pikes what he did to the stormtroopers in Mandalorian. And if that happens, I think most people will forgive the slow start.
The Grogu luke story wasn't that unexpected after the last episode tho and they have to keep Asoka in the game somehow with her show coming up and all that. Cad turning up was just a matter of when rather than if, they need an Antagonist with reputation (who's already canon) and he makes the most sense. Like i've been waiting for him since the Pykes showed up, this is basically a Mafia-Western and he's like THE gunslinger in star wars (and probably the one who killed the Tuskens). I'm really looking forward to see if he and Fennec meet and how that goes down. Yodas saber was a bit of a surprise for me because I thought he lost it in the Senate fight with Palpatine but I guess ofc Luke has it now.
I'd like to formally thank Jay for being so validating. I, too, started crying when that antenna popped up and didn't stop crying for the entirety of this episode. You guys are always the best.
I remember a few moments of CGI in some earlier episodes looked a little iffy, and I couldn’t help but think “what happened to the CGI budget from The Mandalorian?” Then Luke showed up and I said to myself “ohhhh so that’s where it went”
Same. I love the show, but there's definitely been a few scenes that didn't exactly look up to par. But hey, if they were going to put all the money in one episode this was the one to do it!
This show can make a 45 old man feel just as happy as he did that on that Christmas morning when he found an NES under the tree. The extreme joy I felt this morning was something that I wasn't expecting until Season 3 of Mando.
@@John_Locke_108 I don't even think I'd really asked. But my grandmother-RIP, had 3 sets of grandkids, so that Xmas morning probably 1989-3 NESs. I'm still grateful for Nintendo Power giving any subscribers a free Final Fantasy guide or I'd have been screwed.
I love Adam's reactions. He seems like a such pure, childlike (in all the best possible ways) guy :) I also like how every reactor I've seen is like : "Kill the deputy, instead of Cobb!"
Pre Boba Fett he was the most feared and probably highest paid Bounty hunter in the Galaxy because he was the guy you wanted to guarantee a job was done you hired Cad Bane he was the bounty hunter Darth Sidious hired for a job to break into the Jedi temple and he succeeded there was never a job he was hired for that he didn’t complete
Grogu will live for 900 years. Let him spend 40-50 years with Din and then he can train as a Jedi. Besides Luke said he was remembering it more than he was learning it. Grogu probably just needs to do finals, throw his little cap in the air, and walk across the stage. Bam, bam, bam, and done. He can then avenge who ever kills his Armor-Daddy, take back the Dark Saber, and rule Mandalore for another 500+ years and then retire and go to Dagoba and live fat on all the frogs he wants. Life well lived.
I’ve never heard a better description of Timothy Olyphant than wind blown perfection. We need a Cobb Vanth spin-off. It’d be like Justified/Deadwood in space and I am 100% here for it
"Hi Dave!" - from Vanth's return, to Luke with Grogu and with Ahsoka, to the Bane reveal, was there really any doubt it could be someone other than Master Filoni? I think not. Also as much as I love Ludwig Göransson's musical work, hearing those classic John Williams themes was just SO freaking good.
Shakes fist at sky “DAMN YOU DAVE FILONI” I waited up for this reaction. You guys delivered as always. Ugh. Emotionally exhausted.. I need a nap now.. #StarWarsTherapy
The episode did not make me cry. Your reactions did. I could feel your passion come gushing right through my screen. Dammit... gentlemen, you are all of us.
Ya. I read someone's comment that luke is testing grogu like yoda tested him by giving hima choice to complete his training or go and help his friends. I hope that's true
That was his failing in Empire Strikes Back. He didn't technically do much in Return of the Jedi. Besides save Han Solo. But in a deleted scene it seems he had to go to Tatooine anyway, to build his lightsaber. Killed two birds with one stone. Then he left his friends to confront Darth Vader as a final test from Yoda. I'm not sure exactly if Luke is an actual Jedi Master from leaving his training. I think it's still debatable to this day.
@@GacMan47 I don`t think there is a specific route to becoming a Jedi master consisting of training for X number of years under a senior Jedi teacher. I would guess becoming a `master` has more to do with how in harmony with The Force the Jedi becomes. You could probably achieve that on your own.
When we get to see Grogu make his decision I'd love to see him stand on one leg and yoink both. Luke was literally just teaching him about balance. Sometimes the student teaches the master!
Part of me thinks it's a test. In the original films and expanded stuff, Luke really didn't follow with the old Jedi teachings. He mentioned it feeling more like Grogu was remembering rather than being taught. Hopefully it's just him seeing if Grogu knows anything about the old Jedi ways.
@@brandontaylor3252 the darksaber is too big for grogu... also why? he could just have Yoda's saber and be better off due to it being designed for his size. The darksaber hilt is so long it would be dragging on the ground if Grogu was to sheathe it on his belt lmao.
And that ladies and gentlemen is how you tie the prequels, the OT, the new trilogy and the animated series into a single episode. Dave Filoni you mad mad genius.
If someone had told me that I would ever see a live action adaptation of star wars, where Ashoka Tano, Luke Skywalker, cad bane, r2d2, boba Fett and other characters would be seen in one episode, I would have said, dream on. Never in 1 million years would I have thought that would happen. I'm excited to see what else happens in the future. Anyway, I am speechless and happy. Thank you Dave and John for making Star Wars, Star Wars again. 🙏♥️
If you asked an eight-year-old to describe the plot, it would sound like the wildest fan fiction. That's not a criticism, I think it's impressive how they keep pulling this off.
This was a great episode. Im not even mad that we didnt really see Bobbafett for 2 episodes. I am really liking what they are doing with current Star Wars on Disney Plus. I also feel like Grogu is a major player in the future.
Cad freaking Bane wow he looks so awesome in live action, of course Corey Burton brings the character to life with his iconic voice but honestly the physical actor (who I assume is most likely a stunt double) was surprisingly very accurate and faithful to how he was animated in both Clone Wars and Bad Batch, the actor both had to wear a bunch of layered clothing AND extensive prosthetics but was able to bring across just how ruthless and imposing Bane can be, the combination of that with Burton’s voice fully brings Cad to life and imo it worked practically perfectly
The speed difference between Cobb, Cad Bane, and the deputy is ridiculous. First it shows Cobb take out three piles before they even draw their gun. Then when the deputy tries to pull his gun, Cobb already has his unholstered, but Cad has already fired. The difference between an amateur, an expert, and a master.
Two things: 1) There's no way that they just kill of Cobb like that. I can see him being wounded and unable to use his good shooting arm while the warning for him and the town is the dead deputy. Cad just wanted to give a solid warning to stay out of the Pyke's way. 2) I really believe that Luke wants Grogu to choose both or at least the chainmail and will give him the lightsaber. Luke has attachments out the WAZOO and I can see this being a total Jedi Mindgame to see where Grogu is at mentally. All in all this was a really fun episode. I'm really impressed with how the CGI for Luke has improved. Great reaction!
I'm hoping for the same. Maybe even a little similar to the (deleted) fake out test for Rey? (I know, invoking the sequels, BUT that was actually an interesting scene and should have stayed in, in my opinion!). That said I'm also kind of worried it's intended to be a kind of set up for WHY Luke's temple ultimately fails (and why he is so bitter/jaded) - because he tries to hard to cling to the old ways, when he should KNOW BETTER. (And I blame the sequels for forcing their hand that way.) I also wonder if Ahsoka's little 'trust your instincts' was her trying to nudge him in the right direction. Interestingly, in the last episode, I also wondered if the Armorer was also kind of subtly trying to nudge Din in the right direction too and also setting forth a test/quest for him.
A little Easter Egg. Not only did both Timothy Olyphant (Cobb Vanth) and W. Earl Brown (Weequay Proprietor) star in "Deadwood" together, they were both a part of the "Scream" franchise. Brown being Gale Weathers' cameraman in "Scream" and Olyphant being one of the two Ghostface killers in "Scream 2".
Gotta say, the pure emotional silence during the Luke talking about Yoda scene is so amazing to watch. Moments like that show how much these characters really mean. Great reaction guys!
The technical work of doing Luke in daylight with natural shadows all over him is.. *chef's kiss*. I feel like your Digital Effects resume goes up in value if you just say you watched this show.
Cobb is literally my favorite. I didn’t know who Cad was, and boy do I regret not being scared earlier. If I knew Cobb didn’t have a chance I would’ve freaked out more.(I finished the season now I know, but it was still cool.) I like that I did NOT have to know Bane to realize Vanth was gonna loose, that’s good filmmaking.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR REACTION ALL DAY! THIS EPISODE MADE ME SCREAM! But to be real, seeing Ahsoka and Luke interact in live action made my brain explode. I do however hope that we get to see how they meet at some point and talk about Anakin. Luke looked WAY better! Hiring that deepfake guy definitely helped. However, there were a couple of times that his face and voice didn’t match. Also, those conversations Luke had with Grogu, shouldn’t he have already had those conversations? Why wait so long? I guess it’s for storytelling. Oh, and…..CAD…..BANE! Jay the way you sat back in your chair at 19:01 when you realized who it might be made me howl with laughter lol! Also…that Boba Fett cameo was pretty sweet…. ALSO ALSO, I can’t say enough of how amazing the music is. I love that Master Jedi Luke theme that plays whenever he uses the force like when he was destroying those droids last season. It’s the music that plays when he is lifting the frogs. It sounds so epic and haunting.
You have no idea how much I've been looking forward to this. I apologize for cheating on you with other reactions, but this episode was just NUTS and I had to know others had the same feels. Watching this episode I had so many "Jay is gonna lose it here" moments lol Love y'all 🤘😁
That fuckin' deputy distracted Cobb. That split glance to the deputy made such a difference. I would like to see another stand off between Cobb and Cad in the future.
Last night, out of pure nostalgia, I was watching reactions to Mando S2 finale and I was thinking to myself "I remember that feeling, this episode made my whole week, what a great episode..." and then today I just got what is probably the most Star Wars character per episode ratio ever for a live action show. Just give Favreu and Filoni the freedom to do movies and let Disney just cash in. Do it!
Seeing you two experience the same emotions I did at almost every point in this episode was like experiencing them all over again. Thank youse twos for all the content you make!
Also, when Ashoka says to look “ so much like your father” I think she is referring to Grogu, how he has attachment and maybe he must walk a different path then the traditional Jedi, because Ashoka knows but Luke has to make the choice to let Grogu choose

Bro i was NOT expecting Ahsoka to appear. It was so out of nowhere that i jumped of my chair. I dont remember seeing an episode of any series ever that threw so much awesome stuff at me at the same time. What a time to be a Star Wars fan!
'Space Avengers' is on point - Boba fett is bringing together a group of of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. To see if they could work together when he needed them to, to fight the battles that- wait wrong franchise :D Chapter 7 has gotta be everyone in Team Boba kicking some ass and being awesome
This might be my favorite reaction - that weepy, dewy eyed look is EXACTLY the look I had through the first 20 or so minutes of this episode. The funny thing is I had made myself a cup of tea, and decided to make some of my Republic of Tea 'Mandalorian' themed tea (I bought myself the whole set for Christmas) and decided on the Luke+Grogu brand. It was perfect :) And at that moment when the screen just cut - almost anticlimactically - to Luke sitting there meditating I almost dropped the mug entirely and my eyes just completely filled with tears. My heart almost stopped seeing Luke and Ahsoka just standing there hanging out and I WANT MORE. I agree, I want that hour long talk about his father, lol. Hell, we know Hayden is around for Kenobi and Ahsoka, he should just drop by for tea ;) I think there are some fair criticisms to make of the focus of the show in general (I think Boba deserves his own arc/story which has now been sidelined) but so much of this made me so happy. I will say one thing that did NOT make me happy was the pain of watching Ahsoka and Luke repeat the mistakes of the old Jedi Order here. Ahsoka's musings on Grogu missing Din are so similar to the fears of the Council regarding Anakin missing his mother, and they went about it the wrong way. Obviously it's great that Luke is giving Grogu a choice but I'm very much a 'why not both' girl, and especially coming from somebody for whom balancing his attachments and the Jedi way saved the galaxy it's just...sigh. (And I get they kind of have to do this because they have to basically set up the new Academy for failure...it makes sense that Luke might try to fall back on re-emulating some ideal instead of trusting his own instincts, but it hurts to watch.) Funny thing is , when this show started, my big hope for a cameo was Qi'ra. And here we got Ahsoka, Luke Skywalker, Cad Bane, Cobb Vanth and Artoo. Oh,and Cin Dralig ;) How many Order 66 reenactments are we up to now?
This reaction was everything I'd hoped it'd be. As soon as I saw this episode I knew our internet best friends were in for a treat and therefore so were we. Loved watching along with y'all as always
You guys’ reaction to Ahsoka was everything! And the music that played while Luke and Ahsoka talked was the same theme that played when Luke crooonched those dark troopers. A friend I think it’s called. Fitting. Here are the two ways I think it’ll go whether Grogu’s choice is revealed next episode or in Mando s3. One: he’ll choose the armor and reunite with Din maybe at the end of the episode or in Mando s3. Then he’ll be trained by Ezrah later. Maybe in the Ahsoka series. Or he’ll take the light saber and train for a while more while Din does his thing. Then he’ll have a force vision of Din in trouble like Luke did and go off to help him. I’d prefer he pick the armor, but I could live with either choice. But I need like 3 hours of Luke just training Grogu and others.
I think the way luke worded things reveals he wants Grogu to pick the armour in order to train him. Why would he want grogu to be detached from others.
this... right this here... This is the reason I love watching reactions to tv shows... Just to see I'm not alone in the emotional rollercoaster this puts me through... Thank you for your awesome content!
Can you imagine we could actually get to see a live-action Fennec vs. Cad Bane fight, round 2? I can just imagine them having a conversation and Bane mentions Omega, prompting Boba to then ask Fennec later, who is Omega...then end scene cut to black.
I think that would be a good way of doing it. I want to see Omega in this show but it’s too soon. They have to carve out her story in Bad Batch just a bit more, but just a mention and a cut to black like you said would be a good, and also kinda funny.
Your reaction warmed my heart Luke forcing Grogu to choose makes sense because after witnessing the result of his father's fall into attachment, he's a purist. Wearing armour creates doubt in the mind of a fighter who trusts the force to guide them. Maybe there are exceptions, but surely it's fundamentally at odds with being a Jedi to wear armour? It hinders motion and fosters an overreliance on being protected from potentially fatal mistakes. See the video of someone trying to do a backflip using a safety mat - on the final attempt with the mat taken away, they succeed in doing the backflip.
Let's say Grogu does choose Mando. Does that mean next week Luke returns to Tatooine and helps Boba and Mando out? Because I would dig seeing Boba and Luke interact after what happened in Return of the Jedi.
This is one of the best reactions I have ever seen. You guys are watching through tears half the time, and the Cad Bane reaction is what you get when you're emotionally tired from 19 other reveals in the episode. Amazing stuff guys :)

Now we shall see if Boba has what it takes after all. The gauntlet has been thrown. If he wants to rule, he has to do to the Pikes what he did to the stormtroopers in Mandalorian. And if that happens, I think most people will forgive the slow start.
Yeah, it's finishing as Mandalorian Season 3 instead of Boba Fett Season 1.
I'm wondering how you think about this now
We really owe a lot to Favreau and Filoni for constantly bringing about the unexpected.
Jay almost crying the whole episode was something I needed! This reaction plus this episode was a masterpiece! Thank you Dave, Adam and Jay! 😍
His reaction was so genuine ❤️❤️
I'd like to formally thank Jay for being so validating. I, too, started crying when that antenna popped up and didn't stop crying for the entirety of this episode. You guys are always the best.
I remember a few moments of CGI in some earlier episodes looked a little iffy, and I couldn’t help but think “what happened to the CGI budget from The Mandalorian?”
Then Luke showed up and I said to myself “ohhhh so that’s where it went”
You too huh? Seriously, right down to the NES.
@@JnEricsonx 😁
@@JnEricsonx The NES was first time I ever shot for the moon with my Christmas list and I figured that I had 5% of getting one.

I was yelling: “ dammit Favroni!!!! Are you trying to give a 50 yr old a freakin heart attack ??? “
I love Adam's reactions. He seems like a such pure, childlike (in all the best possible ways) guy :)

Yup same
Not me refreshing you tube for an hour.... 😂😂😂😂
Yep.
I had never seen Cad Bane before this episode and he was terrifying. I was genuinely scared, it was weird. What a powerful introduction!
I’ve seen everything he’s in and you’re very very right to be afraid.
This episode was all tears. You, me, everyone. Pure magic
Tears? What tears? I'M not crying, YOU'RE crying!
"Timothy Olyphant: Wind blown perfection on the the deserts of Tatooine."
Sounds like a solid plan. Bring on Yodalorian
The frog fetish explains why Yoda went to Dagobah lol.
Definitely sounds like the Winchester plan in Shawn of the Dead. Is a solid plan.
There’s a small part of me that wonders if “the Mandolorian” that the overall story about is actually Grogu, not Din.
@@spacemanspiff01 Especially after last episode made a big deal out of Tar Vizla's history as both Jedi and Mandalorian
I’ve never heard a better description of Timothy Olyphant than wind blown perfection. We need a Cobb Vanth spin-off. It’d be like Justified/Deadwood in space and I am 100% here for it
You two just quietly crying for the better part of an hour. I love it.
Their joy brought tears to my eyes.
“that looks like a top hat”
“yes it does adam.

*shakes hands in the air* FILONI !!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😂
I love that Luke is pretty much teaching Miyagi-Do karate to Grogu.
Luke: “You must let go of your attachments”
Also Luke: “I will fight with my friends against the Empire”
Luke would not exist if Anakin were not attached to Padme
@@GacMan47 yoda says before he dies "nothing more is there for you to learn " ...hes a jedi master
Its 2023....and i still watch this episode of these two. Such joy☺️☺️☺️
I hope he takes the armor, gets the darksaber from Mando, and we get the greatest buddy cop show ever made.
@@brandontaylor3252 the darksaber is too big for grogu... also why? he could just have Yoda's saber and be better off due to it being designed for his size.
The darksaber hilt is so long it would be dragging on the ground if Grogu was to sheathe it on his belt lmao.
@@Otakahunt let the barrage of adorable fan art commence!
Everyone upvote this original comment so it beats out the copycat above.
Two things:
1) There's no way that they just kill of Cobb like that.
Hey, the maker of the Darksaber was Jedi and Mandalorian. WHy not do it again.
Really hoping it’s just a test from Luke
The actor playing the deputy is Boba Fett's stunt double.
Ever since season 2 finale of Mando I've been saying we need a Jedi Academy series. Let's go Disney, get on it.
Skywalker Academy merch is on sale in Disney parks.
W. Earl was also in an episode in Justified!
Watching Jay hold back happy man tears the whole time made my day. What an episode! :)
The way they realise it’s Cad Bane and immediately know if there’s a fight Cobb isn’t walking away from it
Cobb is literally my favorite. I didn’t know who Cad was, and boy do I regret not being scared earlier. If I knew Cobb didn’t have a chance I would’ve freaked out more.(I finished the season now I know, but it was still cool.)
I like that I did NOT have to know Bane to realize Vanth was gonna loose, that’s good filmmaking.
It might not be perfect-but we really don't give a fuck.
This was absofuckinglutely AMAZING!!! Luke looked so good. The possibilities are endless what they could do now.
You have no idea how much I've been looking forward to this. I apologize for cheating on you with other reactions, but this episode was just NUTS and I had to know others had the same feels. Watching this episode I had so many "Jay is gonna lose it here" moments lol

That fuckin' deputy distracted Cobb. That split glance to the deputy made such a difference. I would like to see another stand off between Cobb and Cad in the future.

Cad Bane is so perfectly TERRIFYING. I love it
Last night, out of pure nostalgia, I was watching reactions to Mando S2 finale and I was thinking to myself "I remember that feeling, this episode made my whole week, what a great episode..." and then today I just got what is probably the most Star Wars character per episode ratio ever for a live action show. Just give Favreu and Filoni the freedom to do movies and let Disney just cash in. Do it!
I spent this whole episode screaming "JUST DO THE THING!!! :D" at the TV
Thanks guys. You didn't say even it once! lol
I rarely cry or get emotional on shows and movies. But the moment when the force theme started to play... damn, they got me.

I cried along with you guys. It's so heartwarming to see fans willing to express that kind of deep emotion.
Also, when Ashoka says to look “ so much like your father” I think she is referring to Grogu, how he has attachment and maybe he must walk a different path then the traditional Jedi, because Ashoka knows but Luke has to make the choice to let Grogu choose

'Space Avengers' is on point - Boba fett is bringing together a group of of remarkable people to see if they could become something more. To see if they could work together when he needed them to, to fight the battles that- wait wrong franchise :D
Chapter 7 has gotta be everyone in Team Boba kicking some ass and being awesome
The Boba Fett cameo in this episode was the best out of all of them totally
Hell, we know Hayden is around for Kenobi and Ahsoka, he should just drop by for tea ;)
I think there are some fair criticisms to make of the focus of the show in general (I think Boba deserves his own arc/story which has now been sidelined) but so much of this made me so happy. (And I get they kind of have to do this because they have to basically set up the new Academy for failure...it makes sense that Luke might try to fall back on re-emulating some ideal instead of trusting his own instincts, but it hurts to watch.)
Funny thing is , when this show started, my big hope for a cameo was Qi'ra.
The moment the flat brimmed hat showed up, I mourned Cob Vanth
I think he was just laying out the cards on the table.
cob vanth, mando, r2, grogu, luke, ashoka, cad bane. came to watch jay and adam's heads explode. was not disappointed.
this... right this here...
I love that characters how just can come in casually with no pomp and circumstance.
Like Starkiller could just walk in at this point
I think I would lose my shit. He's my age now, it's been a rough time frame from TFU....I'd say go for it.

Your reaction warmed my heart
Luke forcing Grogu to choose makes sense because after witnessing the result of his father's fall into attachment, he's a purist.
Cad Bane has to be an old man by this point. And he’s still an excellent shot
As soon as I saw this chapter, I knew you guys would completely flip out! You didn’t disappoint. 🤩🤩
