The best train in the world Since the recent opening of the new branch of the high speed line in ( LGV sud Europe atlantique ) use new TGV stock nicknamed " ocean " with brand new interior I can't wait to try it.
I took this route in 1st class for as little as 37 euro back in January, very comfortable. It's a fast way of going to North/central Spain - or like I did a 7 day trip to Lisbon. Although the TGV arrivals into Hendaye don't seem to always align with the local Basque trains to San Sebastian. Gare de Montparnasse is utterly hideous, looks half built and makes London Euston look contemporary. Gare de Est & Nord are far nicer, Gare de Nord particularly so at night.
1970s architecture is divisive. The whole redevelopment area of Montparnasse (the tower, plaza, train station and housing projects) is still debated today.
not happening with our current loading gauge restrictions. Trust me man, I'd love to see TGV Duplexes or hell, even Swiss-style Stadler KISS sets, but the way our railway infrastructure's built out, it won't happen in a million years. Hell, there's even talk of making "captive" HS2 sets that can't be used anywhere outside the HS2.
Excellent report. Bordeaux was my old stomping grounds for three years, in Cestas Gazinet south of the city. Would love to take this new train, but will never leave the US again with all these new restrictions and hassles, it's not fun anymore. Love your channel.
mind I ask why you've named you profile after Josef Stalin, who was a cold blooded tyrant who murdered at least 20 million Russians during his time as dictator of the USSR?
Pays to buy in advance I'm going on this train in six weeks time. I bought it two weeks ago €29. Also first class. So looking forward to it. Thankyou for your very informative video.🚊😀
MEANWHILE, in the USA, there are only two direct train lines from Chicago to New York City - in other words, from our third-largest metropolis to our first-largest - and they each only run three times a week, and they run at snail-speed. :-/
Good trip report, but what I don't understand is why Oui.SNCF says that the train is full loaded, while you went to the ticket machine and it says no there is a free 1st class seat available. What's the reason of this??
The maker of both old and new TGV trains, Alstom, has advertised a new generation of double-deck trains (called Avelia Horizon) which will be quite different from these Euroduplexes. They have a video on UA-cam with a preview. I would not be surprised if these are the replacement for the old single-deck TGVs.
Actually, they've done this trick for all classes of high speed trains in Japan way back from the 1980s. Wonder why the European railway operators cannot learn from this.
That is clearly the most organized seat-back tray I've ever seen. Is "Inoui" a play on "inouï" (in Canadian French it's "unheard of" or "all-time (best)")? The name is so close to "ennui" I'd be concerned bad reviews would be titled "Inoui? C'est l'ennui!" (or maybe that won't work in France French?)
CanuckJim Hi, communication agency has stated the following regarding rebranding of TGVs to « InOui »: "O" evokes a bubble of comfort and serenity; "Oui", our intention to say Oui (Yes); "nou", an evocation of « nous » ("us" », an echo of "let's get closer" to the SNCF group; "ino", our strong desire for innovation and digitalisation; "in", "to be in", to be in tune with the times; "Inoui" is the strength of this new customer promise, an aspirational promise in which everyone finds themselves". Yes it sounds bs and everyone laughed at this. 😂. Also there is a brand consistency with the low cost TGV offer called « OuiGo »
And yes of course in the end inouï as « unheard of » , « all time best » sends also a very positive image which aligns with the more premium image of this tgv offer
Yes. The idea is of the "inoui" expression, not sure why since the old name was good but yes you're right. I personally believe that it also makes for a good logo to export globally to non Latin-writing countries.
as live in uk, enjoy travel on trains , hoping to return europe when things get better, when i in europe last 2 yrs ago i found using EURO RAIL ticket was useful such journey HAMBURG TO ZURICH AN D PARIS TO LONDON
Hello, thank's for the video. Iam to travel Paris to Bordeaux April 5th 2020 (departure 14h) the price seems to be 171(eu) how do I get a reasonable price?
The seating looks first class but nothing special . All they have is a food service car dispensing ordinary food ? Nothing first class about that, it needs upgrading to a dining car with table service.
French trains are always to tight and narrow on the inside... Thalys is worst, so dark and narrow. Just love our German ICE trains, very roomy and spacious especially in first class.
ice may be more roomy, but the quality of materials and confort during high speed is inferior to the tgv. plus, this is a duplex train, not a single deck train. So it is more tight.
How I miss French drains, especially the TGV’s. Even the older ones.

How do you know the TGV Atlantics will be scrapped soon? I haven't seen any news of that. Hope it isn't the case, theyre the prettiest.

We are catching up it seems. Not as wealthy as Japanese maybe?
Many/most people just don't mind sitting with their back to the travel direction. So why bother to install that? Just an expensive gimmick.

Ouigo it's low cost (more seat, no first class, no wifi, no luggages allowed) Inoui it's a classic TGV with power outlet and wifi :)
